0%, 40.9% and 37.3%, respectively. Studies that included patients with a history of spine surgery yielded a more extreme prevalence estimate than studies excluding those (36.9% vs 24.3%). For results of patients after operative treatment, significant differences for prevalence estimates were showed in different degrees of pain (Q = 4.72, P = 0.03), screening instruments (Q = 4.83, P = 0.09), and representativeness of sample (Q = 15.70, P = 0.00).

The systematic review indicated increased prevalence of depression in DSD patients. In consideration of the relationship between depression and poor surgical outcome, we should pay more attention to identifying strategies for preventing and treating depression in DSD patients.

To objectively determine whether there is potential thermal tissue damage during TmYAG laser-based LUTS treatment.

Our experimental model was comprised of a prostatic resection trainer placed in a 37°C water bath. In a hollowed-out central area simulating the urethral lumen, we placed a RigiFib 800 fibre, irrigation inflow regulated with a digital pump, and a type K thermocouple. A second thermocouple was inserted 0.5/1cm adjacently and protected with an aluminum barrier to prevent it from urethral fluid. We investigated continuous and intermittent 120W and 80W laser application with various irrigation rates in eight measurement sessions lasting up to 14min. Thermal measurements were recorded continuously and in real-time using MatLab. All experiments were repeated five times to balance out variations.

Continuous laser application at 120W and 125ml/min caused a urethral ∆T of ~ 15K and a parenchymal temperature increase of up to 7K. With 50ml/min irrigation, a urethral and parenchymal ∆T of 30K and 15K igate this potentially harming surgical adverse effect.
To evaluate the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on functional urology procedures in France.

A prospective study was conducted within 11 secondary and tertiary referral centers in France. Patients aged > 18years who were diagnosed with a functional urology disease before the national lockdown (March 17th, 2020) and who required a surgery were included. Study period went from March 17th to September 30th 2020. The included interventions were listed according to the guidelines for functional urology enacted by the French Association of Urology and delay of reoperation was compared to the guidelines' delay. The primary outcome was the number of procedures left unscheduled at the end of the study period. Descriptive statistics were performed.

From March 17th 2020 to September 3 rd 2020, 1246 patients with a previous diagnosis of a functional urological disease requiring a surgery were included. The mean follow-up was 140.4days (± 53.4). Overall, 316 interventions (25.4%) were maintained whereas 74 (5.9%) were canceled, 848 (68.1%) postponed and 8 patients (0.6%) died. At the end of the follow-up, 184 patients (21.7%) were still not rescheduled. If the intervention was postponed, the mean delay between the initial and final date was 85.7days (± 64.4).

Overall, more than two thirds of interventions had to be postponed and the mean delay between the initial and final date was about three months.

Assessment of inspiratory dyspnoea associated with upper airway obstruction is based on subjective clinical and nasal fibreoptic laryngoscopy (NFL) signs. The aim of this study was to determine whether peak inspiratory flow (PIF) measurement could indicate the need for upper airway release surgery in patients with acute inspiratory dyspnoea during emergency.

A retrospective single-institution study (February 2018-March 2020) of 48 patients with acute inspiratory dyspnoea and PIF measurement (Peak Flow In-Check Dial G16
-Harlow-England) was conducted. The surgical decision was based on the clinical evaluation of the patient's respiratory tolerance and NFL.

Forty-eight patients were included in this study. Thirty-five patients underwent surgery (PIF 36 L/min), and 13 patients did not (PIF 58 L/min) (p = 0.0009). Three of these 13 patients underwent an operation later (PIF value 42 L/min versus 63 L/min for the 10 others [p = 0.25]).

PIF measurement is a quantitative, objective, inexpensive, non-invasive, and quick test that is potentially useful for general practitioners, mobile medical teams, or for ear-nose-and-throat specialists. A threshold of 42 L/min can help doctors in emergency decision making to refer patients to an ear-nose-and-throat specialist to release the upper airway and perform surgery or to choose medical monitoring for patients with emergency inspiratory dyspnoea.

Although it has been reported that superoxide dismutase (SOD) is related to obstructive sleep apnea (OSA), the results are controversial. In addition, the effects of the continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) treatment on SOD levels are also inconsistent. The primary purpose of the present meta-analysis is to determine the relationship between the circulating SOD levels and OSA.

The studies included in this meta-analysis were selected from the PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Library, and Scopus databases. Two researchers independently reviewed the studies. Data analysis was performed using Stata 15.1. The overall effects were measured using the standardized mean difference (SMD) with a 95% confidence interval (CI). A random-effects model or a fixed-effects model was used, depending on the heterogeneity of the studies.

A total of 14 studies were included, comprising 1240 patients and 457 controls. The results showed that the circulating SOD levels of the patients with OSA were significantly lower than that ated that circulating SOD levels may be a reliable marker for detecting systemic oxidative stress in patients with OSA. However, the circulating SOD levels were not affected by the short-term (4-12 weeks) CPAP treatment. Therefore, further large-scale, well-designed randomized controlled trials with a longer CPAP therapy (more than 6 months preferably) and good adherence to the treatment are needed to investigate this issue.Difficulties in interpersonal communication, including conversational skill impairments, are core features of schizophrenia. However, very few studies have performed conversation analyses in a clinical population of schizophrenia patients. Here we investigate the conversational patterns of dialogues in schizophrenia patients to assess possible associations with symptom dimensions, subjective self-disturbances and social functioning. Thirty-five schizophrenia patients were administered the Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS), the Clinical Language Disorder Rating Scale (CLANG), the Scale for the Assessment of Thought, Language and Communication (TLC), the Examination of Anomalous Self-Experience Scale (EASE), and the Social and Occupational Functioning Assessment Scale (SOFAS). Moreover, participants underwent a recorded semi-structured interview, to extract conversational variables. Conversational data were associated with negative symptoms and social functioning, but not with positive or disorganization symptoms. A significant positive correlation was found between "pause duration" and the EASE item "Spatialization of thought". The present study suggests an association between conversational patterns and negative symptom dimension of schizophrenia. Moreover, our findings evoke a relationship between the natural fluidity of conversation and of the natural unraveling of thoughts.
Prehospital detection of large vessel occlusion stroke of the anterior circulation (LVO-a) would enable direct transportation of these patients to an endovascular thrombectomy (EVT) capable hospital. The ongoing ELECTRA-STROKE study investigates the diagnostic accuracy of dry electrode electroencephalography (EEG) for LVO-a stroke in the prehospital setting. To determine which EEG features are most useful for this purpose and assess EEG data quality, EEGrecordings are also performed in the emergency room (ER). Here, we report data of the first 100 patients included in the ER.

Patients presented to the ER with a suspected stroke or known LVO-a stroke underwent a single EEG prior to EVT. Diagnostic accuracy for LVO-a stroke of frequency band power, brain symmetry and phase synchronization measures were evaluated by calculating receiver operating characteristic curves. Optimal cut-offs were determined as the highest sensitivity at a specificity of ≥ 80%.

EEG data were of sufficient quality for analysis in 65/100 included patients. Of these, 35/65 (54%) had an acute ischemic stroke, of whom 9/65 (14%) had an LVO-a stroke. Median onset-to-EEG-time was 266min (IQR 121-655) and median EEG-recording-time was 3min (IQR 3-5). The EEG feature with the highest diagnostic accuracy for LVO-a stroke was theta-alpha ratio (AUC 0.83; sensitivity 75%; specificity 81%). Combined, weighted phase lag index and relative theta power best identified LVO-a stroke (sensitivity 100%; specificity 84%).

Dry electrode EEG is a promising tool for LVO-a stroke detection, but data quality needs to be improved and validation in the prehospital setting is necessary. (TRN NCT03699397, registered October 9 2018).

The molecular geometry of the ground state, the optoelectronics and electronic parameters have been calculated by combining the 6-311++G (d, p) basis set with various functionals of the density functional theory (DFT). selleck chemicals The functionals B3LYP and CAM-B3LYP have been used for NLO parameters. The energy gaps obtained for all the compounds are less than 3.0 eV. These results clearly show that PEDOT and its derivatives can be considered as good semiconductors. They can be tested for use in the manufacture of organic solar cells (OSC) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLED). The first order hyperpolarizabilities of these PEDOT hybrid compounds are much higher than those of the reference compound for NLO applications, namely para-nitroaniline (p-NA), which opens up a new field of application for PEDOT in NLO devices.
