I examine whether or not clinical measures can reliably distinguish NS mimicking MS from NS coexisting with MS, and the informative role biopsy and autopsy evidence may play in understanding these two disorders. Uniquely challenging, I explore the rare patients presenting with the differential of MS or acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM) versus NS, including MS or ADEM as an associated illness in patients with systemic sarcoidosis. In most but not all NS patients, red flags against a diagnosis of MS are strong enough to rule out this more common disorder. Biopsy and autopsy findings indicate a tendency of NS granulomatous changes in the CNS to involve the same deep white matter perivascular spaces as expected to occur in MS, and hence correlate with a tendency of NS involving white matter to produce classic MRI findings of MS. The spectrum of NS includes some cases limited to a single anatomical site, including sites classically involved in demyelinating CIS (optic nerve, brainstem, and transverse myelitis). Asymptomatic "non-specific" periventricular MRI changes are described in many studies as "MS-like". No biopsied or autopsied cases have yet proven associated classic pathological changes of MS in patients with NS.Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is an immune-mediated and treatable disease that may be associated with various systemic conditions. Our objective is to describe the clinical, electrophysiological and pathological data of a series of patients with both CIDP and hemopathy. In this retrospective study, we analyzed 21 patients with CIDP and various hemopathies (malignant or not), consecutively observed for almost five years. In this particular context (with a risk of neurological complications of the hemopathy), a nerve biopsy was taken from each patient (after written consent). All the patients fulfilled the EAN/PNS electrodiagnostic criteria (2021) of CIDP 16 with 'CIDP' and 2 with 'possible CIDP' (no data for 3 patients). For each patient, pathological analysis of nerve biopsy was compatible with the diagnosis of CIDP, and there was no evidence for hematological complication of the peripheral nervous system. In cases of peripheral neuropathy and malignant hemopathy, the possibility that the peripheral neuropathy is CIDP should not be overlooked because CIDP is clearly accessible to appropriate therapies, with high potential for a positive clinical response. If the diagnosis of CIDP is usually suspected clinically and electrophysiologically, it should be confirmed by pathological study (nerve biopsy) in certain cases. Here, we selected Propsilocerus akamusi, widespread in urban streams, to first uncover the gene structure, location, characteristics, and phylogenetics of chironomid ABC transporters at genome-scale. Fifty-seven ABC transporter genes are located on four chromosomes, including eight subfamilies (ABCA-H). The ABCC, ABCG, and ABCH subfamilies experienced the duplication events to different degrees. The study showed that expression of the PaABCG17 gene is uniquely significantly elevated, with deltamethrin concentration increasing (1, 4, and 20 ug/L) both in RNA-seq and qPCR results. Additionally, the ABC transporter members of other six chironomids with assembled genomes are first described and used to investigate the characteristic of those living in the different adverse habitats. The ABC transporter frame for Propsilocerus akamusi and its transcriptomic results lay an important foundation for providing valuable resources for understanding the ABC transporter function in insecticide toxification of this species as well as those of other non-biting midges. Tedious extraction procedures are usually involved in liquid chromatography-based chemical analysis of herbal medicines (HMs), resulting in extensive consumptions of organic solvents, time, energy, and materials, as well as the significant chemical degradation risks for those labile compounds. Fortunately, an emerging online pressurized liquid extraction (OLE, also known as online liquid extraction) technique has been developed for the achievement of directly chemical analysis for solid matrices in recent years, and in a short period, this versatile technique has been widely applied for the chemical analysis of HMs. In the present mini-review, we aim to briefly summarize the principles, the instrumentation, along with the application progress of this robust and flexible extraction technique in the latest six years, and the emerging challenges and future prospects are discussed as well. Guanabenz acetate (Wytensin®, GA), a clinically approved antihypertensive drug, efficiently counteracts ER stress. The entirety of clinically used GA is the E-isomer, while the Z-isomer is known to lack significant hypotensive properties. We recently discovered that the Z-isomer retains anti-ER stress activity. Coupled with its lack of sedative effects, (Z)-GA is well positioned as a potential therapeutic for a host of ER stress-related disorders. We set forth to characterize the metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) of (Z)-GA in vitro and in vivo. Toward this end, a reliable and sensitive LC-MS/MS method for simultaneous determination of the (E)- and (Z)-guanabenz was developed. Chromatographic separation of the isomers was achieved on a C18 reverse phase column with a gradient elution. Tandem mass spectrometric detection was conducted using an AB Sciex 5500 QTrap mass spectrometer with positive electrospray ionization. Full validation of the method was performed in mouse plasma with a simple and low plasma volume protein precipitation procedure. The method demonstrated good linearity, reproducibility, and accuracy over a range of 0.5-1000 nM with minimal matrix effect and excellent extraction efficiency. In addition, the developed method was successfully applied to DMPK studies of the GA isomers in vitro and in vivo. Results of these studies revealed for the first time that the DMPK profile of (Z)-guanabenz is distinct from that of (E)-guanabenz, with higher apparent volume of distribution (Vd) and clearance, presumably due to lower plasma protein binding.
The Ages and Stages Questionnaire Social-Emotional (ASQ-SE) is a parent-report screening instrument designed to assess children's social-emotional development and detect those at risk for delay or problems. Psychometric properties of this questionnaire have been studied before, but the ASQ-SE has never been compared to the Social-Emotional Scale of the Bayley-III (Bayley-III-SE).

To compare the Dutch ASQ-SE (ASQ-SE-NL) to the Dutch Bayley-III-SE (Bayley-III-NL-SE; criterion measure).

A Dutch community sample of mothers with children aged 3-41months (n=1014) filled out both questionnaires. Cut-off scores for the ASQ-SE-NL were determined using 1) >1 SD above the mean and 2) ROC curves. For the Bayley-III-NL, Dutch norm scores were used.

Specificity (70.8% and 88.5%) and screen-out accuracy (0.65 and 0.77) of the ASQ-SE-NL were good. Sensitivity was only sufficient (70.6%) when using ROC curves and only for the ASQ-SE-NL ≥18months age versions. The contribution of each body segment to the BCoM acceleration was quantified in terms of weight and similarity in ten people with transfemoral amputation. First, body segments and BCoM accelerations were obtained using an optoelectronic system and a full-body inertial model. Based on these findings, different scenarios were explored where the use of one sensor at pelvis/trunk level and of different networks of segment-mounted sensors for the BCoM acceleration estimation was simulated and assessed against force plate-based reference acceleration.
