Immunohistochemical staining of breast cancer tissue microarrays showed that KIF21A was expressed in both the cytoplasmic and nuclear compartments of carcinoma cells. Predominance of cytoplasmic KIF21A was significantly associated with larger tumors and high grade cancer, and prognostic of cause-specific overall patient survival and breast cancer recurrence.

The data demonstrates that KIF21A is an important regulator of breast cancer aggressiveness and may be useful in refining prognostication of this malignant disease.

To evaluate the accuracy of MultiColor imaging (MC) compared to fluorescein angiography (FA) in detecting proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) and associated diabetic retinopathy features.

Fifty-nine eyes from 38 PDR patients were included. MC images were reviewed by 2 independent masked graders. A qualitative analysis based on the following features was performed neovascular complexes (NVC), disc neovascularization (NVD), neovascularization elsewhere (NVE), microaneurysm (MA), intraretinal hemorrhage (IRH), vitreous hemorrhage (VH), preretinal hemorrhage (PRH), fibrosis, hard exudates (HE), epiretinal membrane (ERM), diabetic macular edema (DME), ischemia and laser spots (LS). Measures of diagnostic accuracy compared to FA were determined.

The sensitivity for the detection of NVC using MC was 95.1%, with a specificity of 40.0%, positive predictive value (PPV) of 92.9% and negative predictive value (NPV) of 50.0%. Sensitivity and specificity were higher in detecting NVD (88.9% and 76.9%) while NVE rRH, VH, PRH, and LS.
The first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic confronted healthcare systems around the world with unprecedented organizational challenges, particularly regarding the availability of intensive care unit (ICU) beds. One strategy implemented in France to alleviate healthcare pressure during the first COVID-19 wave was inter-hospital transfers of selected ICU patients from overwhelmed areas towards less saturated ones. At the time, the impact of this transfer strategy on patient mortality was unknown. We aimed to compare in-hospital mortality rates among ICU patients with COVID-19 who were transferred to another healthcare facility and those who remained in the hospital where they were initially admitted to.

A prospective observational study was performed from 1 March to 21 June 2020. Data regarding hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were collected from the Ministry of Health-affiliated national SI-VIC registry. The primary endpoint was in-hospital mortality.

In total, 93,351 hospital admissions of COVID-19 pati COVID-19 who were transferred between ICUs across regions, or internationally, during the first pandemic wave in France. However, the global mortality rate declined overall during the study. Transferring selected patients with COVID-19 from overwhelmed regions to areas with greater capacity may have improved patient access to ICU care, without compounding the short-term mortality risk of transferred patients.
Health literacy is an important multidimensional concept of public health concern and a determinant of health outcomes and access to healthcare which requires robust measurement. The objective of this study was to culturally adapt and establish the psychometric properties of the Yoruba version of the Health Literacy Questionnaire.

A cross-sectional survey of Nigeria Yoruba speaking adults was conducted with the Health Literacy Questionnaire following its translation and adaptation. Data were subject to psychometric evaluation (confirmatory factor analysis, composite reliability, Cronbach's alpha, intra class correlation) and association with sociodemographic variables.

A total of 258 adults with mean age 26.7 years participated in the study. The easiest scale to score highly was 'Actively managing my health' and hardest was 'Ability to find good health information' and 'Navigating the healthcare system'. Six one-factor models fitted well without correlated residuals but the other three had a good fit aftial of being a useful clinical tool for the assessment of health literacy, especially among Yoruba speaking community of Nigeria. Thereby helping to improve the health outcomes through access to healthcare.
Tobacco products represent a major health risk factor and a potent way to help transmission of COVID-19. Current data regarding consumption of these products in the region are scarce. The aim of this study was to evaluate patterns of cigarette, hookah and other tobacco products consumption among undergraduate students from the University of Sarajevo before the COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

This cross-sectional study based on a National Youth Tobacco Survey (NYTS) was conducted among undergraduate students from the University of Sarajevo in Bosnia and Hercegovina via an online questionnaire from 22nd to 26th of January 2020.

Out of 605 students involved in the study, most of them were female (N=429, 70.9%); 363 (60.0%) were enrolled in medical sciences; 159 (26.3%) were attending the 3rd year of their curriculum; 224 (37%) were original from Canton Sarajevo and 514 (84.9%) were living in urban environment. Two hundred thirty five students out of 605 (38.8%) were current smokers and 117 (19.3%) hookahamong undergraduate students.
This study provides an insight in prevalence of smoking among students at the University of Sarajevo. More antismoking efforts are needed, especially in urban environments; and a follow-up study, to be planned in the near future, should determine whether COVID-19 pandemic (and all the modifications of lifestyles connected with it) have eventually changed tobacco consumption patterns among undergraduate students.
To assess the religious and spiritual support in critical care according to the conception of patients' family members and nurses.

This is a quantitative cross-sectional study conducted with nurses and relatives of patients admitted to intensive care units. Sociodemographic data were collected and a questionnaire on religiosity and spirituality was applied to family members and the Spirituality and Spiritual Care Rating Scale to nurses. The results with p ≤ 0.05 were significant.

Sample consisted of intensive care nurses (n = 22) and family members (n = 61). Intensive care nurses stated that they can provide spiritual care (p = 0.03). Of the family members, 88.5% believed that religiosity and spirituality help in coping with difficult times, highlighting prayer as part of care for critically ill patients (p = 0.02).

Nurses and family members recognized religious/spiritual support as significant to the process of caring for critically ill patients, even though professional qualification is required for greater integration of this support in daily intensive care.

To explore the knowledge and use of personal protective equipment by nursing professionals of Primary Health Care during the Covid-19 pandemic.

This is an exploratory study of a non-probabilistic sample developed in Basic Health Units in the city of Picos, Piauí, Brazil. Data were collected between June and August 2020, by phone call, following a semi-structured script, with responses recording and transcription. For material analysis, the software IRaMuTeQ was used for statistical textual analyses Descending Hierarchical Classification, similarity analysis, and word cloud.

From the corpus of 6,873 words and 832 lexical units, three categories were created (1) motivations and barriers for use (20.9%); (2) handling of personal protective equipment (classes 5 and 4) with 25% and 21.6%, respectively, and (3) measures to protect users and health professionals (classes 3 and 5) with 17.6% and 14.9%.

The nursing professionals interviewed demonstrated that they did not have sufficient knowledge for the proper use of the equipment, which could compromise their integrity and that of the patient as a subject who receives unsafe care.

This theoretical study intends to present a reflection on the being who being-in-the-world becomes mother of a second child. It is based on Heideggerian phenomenology and nursing thought. The text is organized around two axes Heidegger's conceptual contributions and nursing thought. The Heideggerian ontological dimension, aligned with the humanistic presuppositions of Nursing, contributes to unfold the meanings of life experiences and broaden possibilities of caring of the being who being-in-the-world… becomes mother of a second child. Concomitantly, the access to the experience of women who being-in-the-world become mother of a second child enables widening comprehension of this phenomenon, which will certainly impact nurses' being-present in their daily care.Covering 1993 to 2021 (mainly 2017-2021)Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases are neurodegenerative conditions affecting over 50 million people worldwide. Since these disorders are still largely intractable pharmacologically, discovering effective treatments is of great urgency and importance. These conditions are characteristically associated with the aberrant deposition of proteinaceous aggregates in the brain, and with the formation of metastable intermediates known as protein misfolded oligomers that play a central role in their aetiology. In this Highlight article, we review the evidence at the physicochemical, cellular, animal model and clinical levels on how the natural products squalamine and trodusquemine offer promising opportunities for chronic treatments for these progressive conditions by preventing both the formation of neurotoxic oligomers and their interaction with cell membranes.Planar chiral organic fluorescent materials that exhibit high chiral stability, high efficiency and circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) currently remain an unresolved issue despite their promising applications in optical encryption and 3D-display. Herein, a pair of new donor-chiral π-acceptor (D-π*-A) type planar chiral thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) enantiomers, namely R/S-PXZ-PT, are developed. Such a D-π*-A type structure completely suppresses the racemisation of the planar chirality, making it possible to prepare circularly polarized organic light-emitting diodes (CP-OLEDs) by vacuum deposition processing. Moreover, this design perfectly integrates the chiral unit into the luminescent unit to achieve intense CPL activity with luminescence asymmetry factors (glum) of ±1.9 × 10-3. this website Notably, the enantiomer-based devices exhibit a yellow coloured emission with a maximum external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 20.1%, and mirror-image circularly polarized electroluminescence signals with electroluminescence dissymmetry factors (gEL) of +1.
