Arsenic in groundwater for human consumption has negative effects on human's health worldwide. Due to the above, it is essential to invest in the development of new materials and more efficient technology for the elimination of such priority contaminants as arsenic. Therefore, in the present work, it was synthesized an amorphous hybrid material ZrOx-FeOx with a high density of OH groups, to improve the arsenic adsorption capacity of iron (FeOx) and zirconium (ZrOx) that makes up the bimetallic oxyhydroxide. The spectra of FT-IR and pKa's distribution suggest that in the synthesized binary oxides, a new union between the two metallic elements is formed by means of an oxygen (metal-O-metal). In addition, TEM profiles suggest that there are chemical interactions between both metals since no individual particles of iron oxide and zirconium oxide were found. According to the results, the adsorption capacity of the ZrOx-FeOx material increases 4.5 and 1.4 times with respect to FeOx and ZrOx, respectively. At pH 6, the maximum adsorption capacity was 27 mg g-1, but at pH greater than 7, the arsenic adsorption capacity onto ZrOx-FeOx decreased 66%. Graphical Abstract.Hematological variances were seen in Ctenopharyngodon idella when exposed to (LC50 and LC85) copper, chromium, and lead concentration groups. The metal-exposed blood samples after collection were analyzed for comparative analysis of hematological alterations in the reference and treated groups at the different exposure hours. A significant reduction (p less then 0.05) in hemoglobin, RBC, hematocrit, total leucocyte, and lymphocyte counts was observed with the increase in metal concentrations, whereas a significant incline (p less then 0.05) in granulocyte and monocyte counts was observed with the administered doses of selected toxic metals as compared with the values obtained from the reference group. More pronounced changes in hematological indices both for the red and white blood cells were noticed at the highest dose of LC85-administered metal groups. The induced hematological changes were independent of the exposed duration pattern. The present investigation has significantly contributed in knowledge assessment of metal toxicity based on inclusive evaluation of dose-response relationships.In present study, garlic peel (GP) was modified by loading with Fe(III), Ti(IV), and Ce(III) through a cation exchange process, i.e., nGP-COOH + Mn+ = (nGP-COO)-Mn+ + nH+ (M = Fe, Ce, Ti), which could adsorb tungstate effectively under the weakly acidic conditions. The optimal initial pH for maximum adsorption of W(VI) was determined at 1~3 for Ti-GP, 1~4 for Fe-GP, and 3 for Ce-GP, respectively; and at pH 2.5, the corresponding maximum adsorption capacity for Fe-GP, Ti-GP, and Ce-GP was evaluated as 91.5 mg/g, 83 mg/g, and 84 mg/g tungsten respectively. Coexisting anions like chloride, sulfate, and carbonate showed little effect on tungsten adsorption, while fluoride and phosphate inhibited the adsorption drastically. The column adsorption showed that the breakthrough point for Ce-GP, Ti-GP, and Fe-GP was 180 min, 200 min, and 270 min respectively. And 0.1 mol/L NaOH effectively eluted the adsorbed tungsten, and concentration of the eluted solution had almost 6, 19.9, and 22 factors of the initial tungstate concentration correspondingly.Light-absorbing organic aerosol (brown carbon (BrC)) can significantly affect Earth's radiation budget and hydrological cycle. CX5461 Biomass burning (BB) is among the major sources of atmospheric BrC. In this study, day/night pair (10-h integrated) of ambient PM2.5 were sampled every day before (defined as T1, n = 21), during (T2, n = 36), and after (T3, n = 8) a large-scale paddy-residue burning during October-November over Patiala (30.2° N, 76.3° E, 250 m amsl), a site located in the northwestern Indo-Gangetic Plain (IGP). PM2.5 concentration varied from ~ 90 to 500 μg m-3 (average ± 1σ standard deviation 230 ± 114) with the average values of 154 ± 57, 271 ± 122, and 156 ± 18 μg m-3 during T1, T2, and T3 periods, respectively, indicating the influence of BB emissions on ambient air quality. The absorption coefficient of BrC (babs) is calculated from the high-resolution absorption spectra of water-soluble and methanol-soluble organic carbon measured at 300 to 700 nm, and that at 365 nm (babs_365) is used as a gener only as a surrogate of total BrC.Achieving the win-win goal of economic development and carbon intensity reduction, especially through industrial restructuring, is a challenge involving uncertainty and complexity. Determining which industry is green and whether it should be encouraged or limited at different stages of economic development are key issues. The relationship between industrial structure and carbon intensity was systematically analyzed in 21 industrial sectors from 1971 to 2014 in eight developed countries, with different levels of economic development, using an extended dynamic threshold model. The results indicated that there is a relationship between industrial composition and carbon intensity, and the impact trajectory of industrial structure on carbon intensity can be classified into four categories contaminated, pollution-clean, cleaning hysteresis, and enhanced cleaning. Each type of sectoral relationship between GDP and carbon intensity would change at certain economic levels. The change points for most sectors were US$ 525 and US$ 3904 GDP per capita, which represent the points at which a country enters the mid-industrialization and high-tech industrialization stages, respectively. Therefore, the government and enterprises must upgrade their industrial structure as the national GDP increases, adjust the proportion of sectors operating according to the industrial characteristics, and improve production technology through environmental regulation.Sawdust loaded with zero-valent iron (S-ZVI) was prepared using a liquid phase reduction method for removing heavy metal ions from contaminated water. Surface chemistry and morphology of adsorbents were characterized with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), SEM-mapping, EDX, and X-ray photoelectron spectrum (XPS). The results demonstrated that the zero-valent iron was successfully loaded onto the sawdust. The impact of various factors such as pH, initial metal ion concentration, temperature, and contact time on the removal capability of the adsorbents was systematically investigated. The equilibrium adsorption data showed that the adsorption of arsenic ions and Cr(III) followed the Langmuir model well, and the maximum adsorption reached 111.37 and 268.7 mg/g in an aqueous solution system. In addition, the adsorption kinetics was more accurately described by the pseudo-second-order model, suggesting the domination of chemical adsorption.
