Bortezomib, a selective inhibitor of 26S proteasome, is commonly used as a chemotherapeutic agent against different types of human cancer cells. While cancer during pregnancy is a rare condition, the trends in becoming pregnant at an advanced age increase the risk of cancer associated with pregnancy. Cancers need to be treated carefully without harming the fetus during pregnancy for the patients who desire to continue their pregnancy. The aim of this study is to demonstrate the potential side effects of bortezomib as this drug has so far not been investigated during preimplantation embryo development.

Two cell stage embryos were flushed from mated female CD1 mice and were cultured. Two-cell, eight-cell, and morula stage embryos were exposed to different concentrations of bortezomib in vitro. Morphologic alterations of the embryos were evaluated and the data were statistically analyzed.

Our study showed that bortezomib exposure caused a statistically significant decrease in embryo survival and developmental competence and potential rate. We detected those early stages of embryos are more susceptible to bortezomib exposure than later stages.

Continuing in our efforts to identify TYR inhibitors, we describe the design, synthesis and pharmacophore exploration of new small molecules structurally characterized by the presence of the 4-fluorobenzylpiperazine moiety as key pharmacophoric feature for the inhibition of TYR from Agaricus bisporus (AbTYR). Data from human samples and mouse models are compared and contrasted. Understanding the molecular complexity of the microglial response repertoire will suggest new avenues for therapeutic treatments in AD.In June 2020, an atypical fatal outbreak in a Brazilian Nile tilapia farm was investigated. Twenty-three animals were collected and different tissues were used for bacterial isolation, histopathological and electron microscopic examination and viral detection using molecular methods. A large number of megalocytes were observed in the histopathological analysis of several tissues. Icosahedral virions, with a diameter of approximately 160 nm, were visualized inside the megalocytes through transmission electron microscopy of the spleen tissue. The virions were confirmed to be infectious spleen and kidney necrosis virus (ISKNV) through PCR and sequencing analyses of the fish samples. Phylogenetic analysis indicated that the virus belongs to the Clade 1 of ISKNV. This viral pathogen is associated with high mortality in the early stages of cultured Nile tilapia in the United States, Thailand and Ghana; however, until now, there have been no reports from ISKNV affecting cultured fish in Brazil. Additionally, in 14 out of 23 sampled fish, Streptococcus agalactiae, Edwardsiella tarda or Aeromonas hydrophila infections were also detected. This is the first report of fatal ISKNV infections in the Brazilian Nile tilapia fish farms and represents a new challenge to the aquaculture sector in the country.
The striped rice stem borer, Chilo suppressalis (Lepidoptera Pyraidae), is one of the most serious rice pests in China. Chlorantraniliprole was used extensively for C.suppressalis control over the past ten years, and some field populations have developed high resistance. In this study, we report the chlorantraniliprole resistance status of C.suppressalis in China and the resistance mechanism.

Significant geographical variations of chlorantraniliprole susceptibility were observed among 28 C.suppressalis field populations in 2019-2020. The LC
values varied from 2907.874 mg L
(XS19) to 1.524 mg L
(QW19). Most tested field populations collected from Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan and Anhui provinces in 2020 showed a high level of resistance to chlorantraniliprole (RR=311.9-2060.1), whereas Jiangsu and Sichuan province populations remained susceptible. We describe two siblings with differing unbalanced chromosomal rearrangements inherited from a mother with a 5-breakpoint balanced complex rearrangement involving chromosomes 2, 8, and 21. The overlapping but diverse phenotypes in the siblings were characterized by shared SRS-like features, underlined by a PLAG1 whole gene deletion. Genetic analysis and interpretation was further complicated by a meiotic recombination event occurring in one of the siblings. This family adds to the limited literature available on PLAG1-related SRS. We have reviewed all currently known cases aiming to define the associated phenotype and guide future genetic testing strategies. The heterogeneity of SRS is further expanded by the involvement of complex cytogenomic abnormalities, imposing requirements for a comprehensive approach to testing and genetic counseling.

It is the first time that CPL is distinguished using chirality-dependent SHG-CD effect in OIHPs bulk single crystals. Such SHG-CD technology extends the detection range to near infrared region (NIR). In this way, the anisotropy factor (gSHG-CD ) through SHG-CD signal is as high as 0.21.Herein, magnetic circularly polarized luminescence (CPL) (MCPL) spectroscopy was conducted to analyze an EuIII (hfa)3 complex with three chiral PIII -ligands. Resultantly, (R)-chirality luminophores with S-up orientation and (S)-chirality luminophores with N-up orientation were observed to possess symmetrical mirror image spectra, i. e., they were enantiomers. Similarly, the (R)-chirality luminophores with N-up orientation and the (S)-chirality luminophores with S-up orientation were also enantiomers. Additionally, the origins of the nonideal mirror-symmetric CPL and MCPL spectral characteristics of EuIII (hfa)3 with three chiral PIII -ligands were discussed in terms of parity (space-inversion, P)-symmetry, time-reversal (T)-symmetry, and PT-symmetry laws.
