Frailty has ahigh prevalence in elders and impairs motor ability. This study aimed to investigate the influence caused by frailty in kinematic characteristics of walking and walking strategy adjustment from static standing to stable walking.

In this study, 80community-dwelling elders performed tests. The Kihon checklist (KCL) was used to assess frailty. RO4987655 in vitro The timed up and go test (TUGT) and the 30-s chair stand test (30-sCST) were used to assess balance and muscle strength. The Xsens MVN BIOMECH Awinda was used to collect walking kinematic data.

This study included 25robust, 30prefrail, and 25frail elders. The TUGT completed time (P < 0.001) and the 30-sCST completed number (P = 0.002) had statistical differences among groups. The maximum peak of knee internal rotation showed an interaction between the frailty and the walking phase (P = 0.015). The peak angle of hip adduction, hip and knee flexion, and knee and ankle internal rotation were significantly lower in frail elders than others (P < 0.05).

Frailty affects the kinematic characteristics of walking, resulting in the hip, knee, and ankle flexion, hip adduction, knee and ankle internal rotation reduced. Besides, frailty has aspecific negative effect on the walking strategy adjustment from static standing to stable walking.

Few studies have assessed the use of dietary supplements, anabolic androgenic steroids (AAS) and selective androgen receptor modulators (SARM) in male gym users. The comparison of physical appearance with others on social media and the exposure to fitness-related content on social media (i.e., image-centric social media use) may have a profound role in using these compounds due to its role in creating negative body images in male gym users.

Provide contemporary data on the use of dietary supplements, AAS and SARM among young male gym users, and test the hypothesis that social media is associated with the use of dietary supplements, AAS and SARM, as a result of anegative body image.

In this cross-sectional study, conducted in the Netherlands, male gym users (N = 2269; 24 ± 6years) completed an online questionnaire including self-reported measures regarding resistance training participation, image-centric social media use, dietary supplement intake, and body image. The prevalence of AAS and SARM use was af dietary supplements and AAS.
A total of 27 rose thaumatin-like protein (TLP) genes were identified from the rose genome through bioinformatics analyses. RcTLP6 was found to confer salinity stress tolerance in rose. Thaumatin-like proteins (TLPs) play critical roles in regulating many biological processes, including abiotic and biotic stress responses in plants. Here, we conducted a genome-wide screen of TLPs in rose (Rosa chinensis) and identified 27 RcTLPs. The identified RcTLPs, as well as other TLPs from six different plant species, were placed into nine groups based on a phylogenetic analysis. An analysis of the intron-exon structures of the TLPs revealed a high degree of similarity. RcTLP genes were found on all chromosomes except for chromosome four. Cis-regulatory elements (CEs) were identified in the promoters of all RcTLPs, including CEs associated with growth, development and hormone-responsiveness, as well as abiotic and biotic responses, indicating they play diverse roles in rose. Transcriptomics analysis revealed that RcTLxperiment. In addition, silencing RcTLP6 in rose leaves led to decreased tolerance to salinity stress. We also screened proteins which may interact with RcTLP6 to understand its biological roles. This study represents the first report of the TLP gene family in rose and expands the current understanding of the role that RcTLP6 plays in salt tolerance. These findings lay a foundation for future utilization of RcTLPs to improve rose abiotic stress tolerance.
The Mako robotic arm knee arthroplasty system was initially indicated in unicompartmental knee arthroplasty followed by bicompartmental and total knee arthroplasty techniques. The system utilizes three elements (1) Pre-op 3D CT based planning and image based intra-op navigation. (2) Pre-resection implant modifications with integrated alignment, implant position and gap data, and (3) A semi-constrained robotic arm assisted execution of bone resection with "haptic" boundaries, and cemented implants.

This paper evaluates variable pre-op implant placement, and anatomic reference positioning; data entry with incorporation of alignment, implant congruency through range of motion, and gaps; bone resection with "haptic" boundaries, and final implant evaluation with kinetic sensors.

The Mako system allowed for improved implant placement utilizing CT guidance, bone resection accuracy, flexibility for functional implant placement with gap balancing. When combined with kinetic sensors, there was improved rotation and soft tissue balance.

The MAKO robotic system can assist the surgeon with anatomic landmarks, provides the flexibility for independent gap balance through implant and alignment refinement, and three-dimensional soft tissue balancing data to achieve functional stability. Registry data has shown improved outcome survivorship irrespective of the surgeons' volumes and learning curves.

In patients with rotational ankle fracture, we compare the rate of venous thromboembolism development between patients who received chemoprophylaxis vs those patients that received none.

Retrospective cohort study.

Level I trauma center.

Between 2014 and 2018, we identified 483 patients with rotational ankle fracture that had no VTE risk factors, were under 70years of age, and had an isolated injury.

Chemoprophylaxis vs no chemoprophylaxis after open reduction internal fixation of a rotational ankle fracture.

Development of VTE was the primary outcome. Secondary outcomes included wound problems, infection, hematoma, or non-union.

There were 313 patients that received no prophylaxis and 170 patients that received chemoprophylaxis after operative fixation of an isolated ankle fracture. Demographics including age, gender, body mass index, and ASA class were similar between groups. The rate of DVT/PE was 3.5% in those without DVT prophylaxis, and 4.1% in those on DVT prophylaxis with no significant differences found (p = 0.8). There was no significant difference in wound complication (no VTE prophylaxis-3.7% vs VTE prophylaxis-2.5%, p = 0.7) or infection rates (no VTE prophylaxis-3.8% vs VTE prophylaxis 4.1%, p = 1.0) between groups.

No difference was detected in the rate of symptomatic DVT or PE in patients based on chemoprophylaxis. Our results support the conclusion that the use of chemoprophylaxis may remain surgeon preference and based on patient risk factors for VTE development.

Level III-retrospective cohort study.
Level III-retrospective cohort study. The pine wood nematode (PWN), Bursaphelenchus xylophilus, is a destructive invasive species that exerts devastating effects on most native pines in invaded regions, while many of the non-native pines have resistance to PWN. Recently, increasingly more research is focused on how microbial communities can improve host resistance against pathogens. However, the relationship between the microbial community structures and varying levels of pathogen resistance observed in different pine tree species remains unclear. Here, the bacterial and fungal communities of introduced resistant pines Pinus elliottii, P. caribaea, and P. taeda and native susceptible pines healthy and wilted P. massoniana infected by PWN were analyzed. The results showed that 6057 bacterial and 3931 fungal OTUs were annotated. The pine samples shared 944 bacterial OTUs primarily in the phyla Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, Firmicutes, Bacteroidetes, and Chloroflexi and 111 fungal OTUs primarily in phyla Ascomycota and Basidiomycota, though different pines had unique OTUs. There were significant differences in microbial community diversity between different pines, especially between the bacterial communities of resistant and susceptible pines, and fungal communities between healthy pines (resistant pines included) and the wilted P. massoniana. Resistant pines had a greater abundance of bacteria in the genera Acidothermus (class unidentified_Actinobacteria) and Prevotellaceae (class Alphaproteobacteria), but a lower abundance of Erwinia (class Gammaproteobacteria). Healthy pines had a higher fungal abundance of Cladosporium (class Dothideomycetes) and class Eurotiomycetes, but a lower abundance of Graphilbum, Sporothrix, Geosmithia (class Sordariomycetes), and Cryptoporus (classes Agaricomycetes and Saccharomycetes). These differences in microbial abundance between resistant and healthy pines might be associated with pathogen resistance of the pines, and the results of this study contribute to the studies exploring microbial-based control of PWN.
To compare detection rates of NET liver metastases of MRI and Ga-68-DOTATATE PET/CT to provide more clarity when selecting diagnostic imaging tests for NET staging.

In this IRB-approved single-institution retrospective study, all patients with pathology-proven NET who underwent Ga-68-DOTATATE and MRI scans within 8weeks of each other (3/2017-2/2020) were reviewed. Number of metastases for each patient on diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI), dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI, and Ga-68DOTATATE were recorded by two blinded radiologists, followed by consensus review with two separate blinded readers for MRI and nuclear medicine. Per-lesion and -modality scoring at each lesion location were then performed in consensus. Per-patient linear regression was performed comparing MRI and Ga-68DOTATATE detection rates for each reader and in consensus, and per-lesion-matched pair difference means were used to compare detection frequency between modalities.

32 patients (mean age 59years, 59.4% male) and 90 liver metastases were analyzed. Intraclass coefficients (ICC) [95% CI] between the two readers were 0.97 [0.95, 0.99], 0.89 [0.82, 0.94], and 0.98 [0.97, 0.99] for Ga-68DOTATATE, DWI, and DCE, respectively. Matched per-lesion mean differences were + 0.17 ± 0.07 (p = 0.01) and + 0.22 ± 0.06 (p =  < 0.001) for DWI versus Ga-68DOTATATE and DCE vs Ga-68DOTATATE, respectively, favoring MRI. Case-based linear regressions estimate that DWI and DCE detect 1.28 [1.07, 1.49] and 1.33 [1.12, 1.54] lesions, respectively, for each one detected on Ga-68DOTATATE.

MRI detects more hepatic NET metastasis in comparison to Ga-68DOTATATE. Liver MRI should be performed in concert with Ga-68DOTATATE in NET staging.
