61) decreased odds of disease progression and 76% (OR=0.24, 95% CI 0.12 to 0.47) decreased odds of death compared with the non-LIFT group. No effect on the number of LIFT sessions on disease progression was demonstrated. The LIFT group had a mean final NLR reading 3.48 (-5.89 to -1.09) lower than the non-LIFT group.

In this MEG study with 34 participants (17 women), we used a bimodal (visual/auditory) attention task to determine the neuronal dynamics associated with suppression of the activity of the VAN during top-down attention and its recruitment when information from the unattended sensory modality is involuntarily integrated. We observed an anticipatory power increase of alpha/beta oscillations (12-20 Hz, previously associated with functional inhibition) in the VAN following a cue indicating the modality to attend. Stronger VAN power increases were associated with better task performance, suggesting that the VAN suppression prevents shifting attention to distractors. Moreover, the TPJ was synchronized with the frontal eye field in that frequency band, indicating that the dorsal attention network (DAN) might participate in such suppression. Furthermore, we found a 12-20 Hz power decrease and enhanced synchronization, in both the VAN and DAN, when information between sensory modalities was congruent, suggesting an involvement of these networks when attention is involuntarily enhanced due to multisensory integration. Our results show that effective multimodal attentional allocation includes the modulation of the VAN and DAN through upper-alpha/beta oscillations. Altogether these results indicate that the suppressing role of alpha/beta oscillations might operate beyond sensory regions.Understanding how events throughout the annual cycle are linked is important for predicting variation in individual fitness, but whether and how carry-over effects scale up to influence population dynamics is poorly understood. Using 38 years of demographic data from Algonquin Provincial Park, Ontario, and a full annual cycle integrated population model, we examined the influence of environmental conditions and density on the population growth rate of Canada jays (Perisoreus canadensis), a resident boreal passerine that relies on perishable cached food for over-winter survival and late-winter breeding. Our results demonstrate that fall environmental variables, most notably the number of freeze-thaw events, carried over to influence late-winter fecundity, which, in turn, was the main vital rate driving population growth. These results are consistent with the hypothesis that warmer and more variable fall conditions accelerate the degradation of perishable stored food that is relied upon for successful reproduction. Future warming during the fall and winter may compromise the viability of cached food that requires consistent subzero temperatures for effective preservation, potentially exacerbating climate-driven carry-over effects that impact long-term population dynamics.
While CAR-T therapy has successfully treated haematological malignancies, it has proved sub-optimal for solid tumours. The main limitation is the inability of CAR-T cells to infiltrate and then proliferate within tumours.

We co-expressed IL-7 and PH20, a type of hyaluronidase, with CAR targeting GPC3 (G3CAR-7×20). We test the anti-tumour ability in vitro and in vivo. Moreover the capacity of infiltration and proliferation of G3CAR-7×20 was measured.

We found (G3CAR-7×20) exhibited better proliferation in vivo and in vitro than G3CAR, reduced the level of apoptosis after stimulation by tumour cells, and maintained the memory phenotype of CAR-T cells. G3CAR-7×20 also increased the ability of CAR-T cells to infiltrate tumour tissue.

co-expressed IL-7 and PH20 may significantly enhance the efficacy of targeted GPC3 CAR-T cells in solid tumours treatment.

To investigate the frequency, risk factors and long-term outcome of gonococcal arthritis in Western Australia (WA).

A population-based data linkage study of patients with a hospital-based diagnosis of gonococcal arthritis (GA) in WA between 1990-2014. Demographics, standardised incidence rates (IR) per million and comorbidity accrued before (lookback 186 months ,IQR 86-267) and after the index hospital contact for GA (follow-up 100 months, IQR 60-209). are presented as frequency (%), median (interquartile range) or rates /1,000 months.

In total 98 patients were diagnosed with GA. The annual incidence of GA increased from 1.35 to 2.10 per million between 1990 and 2014, but the rate of GA complicating all gonococcal infections was stable around 0.25%. Female patients with GA (54%, n=53/98) were younger (24 vs 38 years), and more frequently identified as Indigenous (88% vs 49%) than male patients (46%, n=45/98) (p=0.002). Female patients had higher rates of prior infections (15.5 vs 8.1 per 1,000 months, pcted by copyright. Increasingly, mutations in genes that encode postsynaptic proteins belonging to the PSD-95 protein complex, continue to be identified in neurodevelopmental disorders (NDDs) such as autism spectrum disorder, intellectual disability and epilepsy. These disorders are highly heterogeneous, sharing genetic aetiology and comorbid cognitive and behavioural symptoms. Here, by using genetically engineered mice and innovative touchscreen-based cognitive testing, we sought to investigate whether loss-of-function mutations in genes encoding key interactors of the PSD-95 protein complex display shared phenotypes in associative learning, updating of learned associations and reaction times. Our genetic dissection of mice with loss-of-function mutations in Syngap1, Nlgn3, Dlgap1, Dlgap2 and Shank2 showed that distinct components of the PSD-95 protein complex differentially regulate learning, cognitive flexibility and reaction times in cognitive processing. These data provide insights for understanding how human mutations in these genes lead to the manifestation of diverse and complex phenotypes in NDDs.Metal-halide perovskites are recently emerging as the promising alternative for CPL detection owing to their CPL-sensitive property induced by chiral organics and efficient charge transport of inorganic frameworks. However, most of these reported chiral perovskites involve high concentrations of toxic Pb which will become the potential bottleneck for their further application. Herein, we successfully developed two lead-free halide double perovskites, [(R)-β-MPA]4 AgBiI8 ((R)-β-MPA=(R)-(+)-β-methylphenethylammonium, 1-R), and [(S)-β-MPA]4 AgBiI8 ((S)-β-MPA=(S)-(-)-β-methylphenethylammonium, 1-S). check details Circular dichroism measurements reveal that these perovskites exhibit notable chirality induced by organic cations to distinguish different polarization states of CPL photons. link2 Significantly, they present unique chiral polar photovoltaic, and resulting self-powered CPL detection without an external power source is unprecedentedly achieved. Furthermore, an anisotropy factor up to 0.3 is acquired for the self-powered CPL detection, reaching the highest value among reported chiral perovskites. This work suggests hybrid double perovskites are promising photoelectronic candidates, and provides a new approach for exploring new "green" circularly polarized light-sensitive materials with high performance.
To identify factors that may systematically reduce opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians to participate in cancer clinical trials.

Analysis of online documents from the Australia and New Zealand Clinical Trials Registry for cancer treatment trials (Phase 3, 4 or Not Applicable) with at least one Australian site, registered in 2014-2018.

Among 365 eligible trials, most (89%) had sites only in major cities/inner regional areas, but 39% of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians live outside these areas. Seven cancer types accounted for 58% of cancers among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, but only 46% of trials addressed these cancers. Most trials specified exclusions relating to comorbidities/health status. A substantial minority of trials (38%) explicitly referred to investigator opinion/judgment as a relevant determinant of patient eligibility.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients appear to have a reduced opportunity to participate in trials because of where they live, their type of cancer and their general health status, as well as for less transparent reasons relating to investigator judgment. Implications for public health Greater transparency and greater scrutiny of barriers to trial participation for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians are needed to ensure equitable access.

This article brings together three personal perspectives exploring aspects of this influence. By considering the activities prompted by contact with Shane, we look to how librarians might build on the example she provided of living a full professional life.Copepods are among the most abundant marine metazoans and form a key link between marine primary producers, higher trophic levels, and carbon sequestration pathways. link3 Climate change is projected to change surface ocean temperature by up to 4°C in the North Atlantic with many associated changes including slowing of the overturning circulation, areas of regional freshening, and increased salinity and reductions in nutrients available in the euphotic zone over the next century. These changes will lead to a restructuring of phytoplankton and zooplankton communities with cascading effects throughout the food web. Here we employ observations of copepods, projected changes in ocean climate, and species distribution models to show how climate change may affect the distribution of copepod species in the North Atlantic. On average species move northeast at a rate of 14.1 km decade-1 . Species turnover in copepod communities will range from 5% to 75% with the highest turnover rates concentrated in regions of pronounced temperature increase and decrease.
