When patients are admitted to the hospital, they are generally expected to remain in or within close proximity to their assigned rooms in order to promote their safety and appropriate medical care. Such policy development should take into consideration the potential clinical, legal, and ethical concerns in balancing the competing values of patients' preferences and respect for autonomy, while ensuring high quality, safe, and efficacious medical care. METHODS In the present study, the expression of TMEM16A in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) tissues were measured by quantitative reverse-transcription polymerase chain reaction (qRT-PCR), Western blot and immunohistochemical. Cell proliferation was detected using CCK-8, EdU staining and colony formation methods. Flow cytometry was carried out for detecting cell cycle distribution and apoptosis rate. Migration and invasion abilities were analyzed using transwell and wound healing assay. Western blot method was performed to analyze protein expression. RESULTS Here, we found TMEM16A was significantly increased in HCC tissues, and a higher TMEM16A expression levels were detected in larger tumor size, higher tumor grade, with distant metastasis and poor differentiation. Moreover, overexpression of TMEM16A promoted HCC growth, migration and invasion, and suppressed apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. Knockdown of TMEM16A inhibited HCC growth, migration and invasion, and induced apoptosis in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, TMEM16A regulated PI3K/AKT-MAKP signaling pathway. CONCLUSION Our data indicate that TMEM16A may represent a novel biomarker of HCC and may be a potential therapeutic target for diagnosis and therapy.In the original publication of this article [1], the Figs. 3 and 4 are not clear enough. Although PrEP use continues to increase, there is a need to better understand the factors that contribute to PrEP decision-making within primary relationships. We qualitatively examined how relationship context influences perceptions of PrEP and decisions to initiate and discontinue PrEP among young Black MSM to provide a nuanced understanding of PrEP use within relationships. Between late 2017 and mid-2018, we conducted 10 focus groups with young Black MSM (n = 80) in Milwaukee, WI, Minneapolis, MN, Kansas City, KS, and Detroit, MI. We used inductive thematic analysis to examine how young Black MSM make decisions about PrEP use within the context of primary relationships. We identified three primary themes (1) perceptions of PrEP as an indication of distrust and infidelity, (2) perceptions of PrEP use as necessary, even in primary relationships, and (3) the influence of partners on PrEP. Our results demonstrate the considerable variation in how young Black MSM view PrEP within primary relationships and the influence of primary partners in PrEP use decisions. The dynamics between two or more individuals can shape an individual's conceptualizations of and decisions around PrEP use, and these may be key drivers of racial disparities in HIV and PrEP use.With the increase in the availability and usage of pornography, the research on the effects of pornography has also increased. This research has uncovered several controversies in the field regarding how pornography usage influences attitudes, sexual behaviors, and relationships. However, many of the measures of pornography are problematic as there is often little reliability and validity information for them and it is not clear that participants in these research studies are referring to the same types of materials when they answer pornography usage questions. Consequently, many of the research findings are suspect and it is crucial to develop reliable and valid scales to measure general pornography usage. RG-7112 In this study, we present both a 20-item and a 7-item version of the Pornography Usage Measure (PUM) that is based on extensive previous research on what types of materials individuals consider pornographic and that indicates pornography is a multidimensional construct. We evaluated the reliability and validity of both versions by using an MTurk sample of 934 males and 705 females (N =1639 total) to conduct confirmatory factor analyses, item response analyses, and structural equation model analyses. These analyses demonstrated that there were adequate reliability and early evidence for content, construct, concurrent, and predictive validity for both versions of the PUM. This measure could improve the quality of future research on pornography by providing more consistency between different studies about what is being measured when individuals indicate their pornography usage patterns.
