CENH3 binding was found on the B centromere region and on 9S, suggesting both centromere reactivation and de novo centromere formation. Another mini chromosome, B496, showed evidence of rearrangement, but it also only showed evidence for a de novo centromere. The primary objective of this study was to examine individuals' use of religious coping during the COVID-19 pandemic. We examined the relationship between COVID-19 anxiety and religious coping in a national sample of 970 individuals located within the USA recruited via Amazon's Mechanical Turk (MTurk) between September 12, 2020, and September 25, 2020. Findings indicate negative religious coping is most strongly associated with COVID-19 anxiety, as higher levels of negative religious coping were positively related to COVID-19 anxiety. In a moderated multiple regression wherein positive religious coping and negative religious coping were included in an interaction term, only negative religious coping was significantly associated with COVID-19 anxiety. This may have been due, in part, because individual's typical religious engagement was disrupted by social distancing and isolation measures. When accounting for participant age, sex, religious beliefs and behaviors, and negative religious coping, positive religious coping was negatively, although weakly, associated with COVID-19 anxiety. While most cetacean species produce context-specific sounds, little is known about the use of those sounds by potential conspecific eavesdroppers. We experimentally tested the hypothesis that a social cetacean, Risso's dolphin (Grampus griseus), is able to gather biologically relevant information by eavesdropping on conspecific sounds. We conducted playback experiments on free-ranging dolphins using three context-specific sounds stimuli and monitored their horizontal movement using visual or airborne focal follow observations. We broadcasted natural sequences of conspecific foraging sounds potentially providing an attractive dinner bell signal (n = 7), male social sounds simulating a risk of forthcoming agonistic interaction (n = 7) and female-calf social sounds representing no particularly threatening context (n = 7). Lower socioeconomic status (SES) is associated with shorter overall survival (OS) in patients with locoregional colon cancer. We aimed to estimate (1) the proportion of SES-based OS disparities mediated by disparities in the quality and location of surgical treatment in patients with resected stage I-III colon cancer and (2) the relative importance of components of surgical quality.

We examined patients ages 18-80 years with resected stage I-III colon adenocarcinoma using the 2010-2016 National Cancer Database. SES was defined at the zip code level. Inverse odds weighting mediation analysis was used to estimate the proportion mediated (PM) for nine treatment quality-related and facility-related factors and composite PMs in models including all nine mediators. Models compared high SES patients with each lower SES stratum.

Among 171,009 patients, 5-year OS increased from 70.4% in low SES patients to 78.1% in high SES. When high SES patients were compared with low, lower-middle, and upper-middle SES patients, PM ranges among lower SES strata were minimally invasive surgery 16.0-16.6%, lymph nodes examined 7.7-9.6%, positive margins 3.8-6.5%, length of stay 16.7-28.1%, readmissions insignificant to 3.7%, treatment at > 1 CoC facility 2.7-3.1%, facility type insignificant to 7.3%, facility volume 2.9-8.2%, and adjusted facility 90-day mortality rates 33.2-42.8%. Composite PMs were 76.9% (95% CI 61.3%, 92.4%) for low SES, 68.7% (95% CI 56.4%, 81.1%) for lower-middle SES, and 60.9% (95% CI 43.1%, 78.6%) for upper-middle SES.

These data suggest that improving the quality of the surgical episode for disadvantaged patients undergoing resection for locoregional colon cancer could decrease SES-based survival disparities by over half.

Cognitive impairment in temporal lobe epilepsy is widely acknowledged as one of the most well-known comorbidities. This study aimed to explore cognitive impairment and to determine the potential clinical, radiological, and quantitative electroencephalography markers for cognitive impairment in temporal lobe epilepsy patients versus extra-temporal lobe epilepsy.

Forty-five patients with temporal lobe epilepsy and forty-five patients with extra-temporal lobe epilepsy were recruited for an administered digit span test, verbal fluency test, mini-mental state examination, digital symbol test, and Montreal cognitive assessment. Also, they were subjected to magnetic resonance imaging assessment for hippocampal atrophy and a quantitative electroencephalography assessment for electroencephalography markers (median frequency, peak frequency, and the alpha-to-theta ratio).

Patients with extra-temporal lobe epilepsy showed non-significant higher epilepsy durations and a higher frequency of seizures. Temporal lobe epilepsy patients showed a more statistically significant family history of epilepsy (37.7%), more history of febrile convulsions (13.3%), higher hippocampal atrophy (17.8%), and lower cognitive scales, especially mini-mental state examination and Montreal cognitive assessment; lower digital symbol test, verbal fluency test, and backward memory of digit span test. Also, temporal lobe epilepsy patients had a strong negative correlation with electroencephalography markers median frequency, peak frequency, and the alpha-to-theta ratio (r =  - 0.68, P < 0.005 and r =  - 0.64, P < 0.005 and r =  - 0.66, P < 0.005 respectively).

The hand is a sophisticated tool which allows humans to interact with the external world mainly via the sense of touch. Previous evidences demonstrated that electrical stimulations of the nerve trunks governing the hand are able to restore touch perception in transradial amputees. The aim of this study was to evaluate the neurological correlates of restored perception by the evaluation of network characteristics of the brain connectome via EEG recordings in amputees utilizing a fully sensorized bionic hand.

A 48-year-old female with a left wrist traumatic disarticulation incurred 23years prior to the study was enrolled for 6months, during which experimental sessions were randomized. The control group included 12 healthy subjects performing a similar protocol.

Results showed that in both amputee and control group, a trend of SW in delta and beta 1 is recognizable (Delta and Beta 1 opposite spread) selectively in the hemisphere contralateral to the stimulus.
