The aim of this prospective cohort study was to investigate swallowing function in relation to personal and clinical factors among patients with head and neck cancer (HNC) from diagnosis up to 2years after treatment.
The 100ml water swallow test was measured before treatment, and 3, 6, 12, and 24months after treatment. Linear mixed-effects model analysis was conducted to investigate changes over time and the association with personal (sex and age) and clinical (tumor site, tumor stage, and treatment modality) factors.
Among 128 included patients, number of swallows increased from baseline to 3months after treatment and decreased to baseline again at 6months after treatment. The number of swallows was associated with age and treatment modality.
In patients with HNC, swallowing (dys)function changes over time with the worst score 3months after treatment. A higher age and being treated with surgery are factors associated with swallowing dysfunction over time.

Describe perceptions of COVID-19, COVID-19 vaccines, information sources, and levels and reasons for vaccine hesitancy among disability support workers (DSWs).
Cross-sectional survey of 252 DSWs from across Australia, between early March and early April 2021. Perceptions of risk of COVID-19; government and media representations; vaccination status (Y/N); vaccine intentions (when offered, delayed vaccinators, vaccine refusers); reasons for hesitancy; confidence in safety and efficacy of vaccine; and information sources.
At the time of the survey, fewer than 1% of DSWs had been vaccinated and 17% had been offered vaccination. Of those who had not had the vaccine, 47% said they would get it as soon as it was offered; 19% would not get the vaccine; 12% would have if required; 13% hadn't decided; and 8% would wait until it was available for a while. Reasons for hesitancy included inadequate safety data (70% delayed vaccinators, 79% vaccine refusers), side effects (63% delayed vaccinators, 58% refusers), and distrust in the government (17% delayed vaccinators, 52% refusers). DSWs most trusted sources of information were their own doctor, Chief Medical Officers, and governments. 61% believed that COVID-19 will only stop if most of the community is vaccinated and 53% agreed the chances of them or their clients getting COVID-19 would be reduced if they were vaccinated.
Tailored information is needed to reduce vaccine hesitancy and increase confidence in COVID-19 vaccines among DSWs. The importance of getting vaccinated to prevent COVID-19 among people with disability should be emphasised.

The importance of getting vaccinated to prevent COVID-19 among people with disability should be emphasised.The innovation of high-performance fused-ring electron acceptors (FREAs) has carried the field of organic solar cells (OSCs) toward a new stage of development. However, due to high synthetic complexity and production costs, FREAs may not be the most promising candidates for future commercialization applications. To address these disadvantages of FREAs, a series of low-cost acceptors, named as noncovalently FREAs (NFREAs), is successfully constructed by employing the strategy of noncovalently conformational locks. Herein, a novel NFREA (BDTO-4F) based on 3,7-dialkyloxybenzo[1,2-b4,5-b']dithiophene is synthesized and fully characterized. Benefiting from the complementary absorption of the donor and acceptor, balanced charge transport, and favorable film morphology, J52BDTO-4F based OSCs afford a satisfied power conversion efficiency of 12.09%, much higher than PBDB-TBDTO-4F-based devices (8.30%). It is worth mentioning that BDTO-4F possesses a higher figure-of-merit value of 55.65 in comparison with several representative FREAs based on a cost-efficiency evaluation. This work demonstrates the potential of the novel benzo[1,2-b4,5-b″]dithiophene derivative for constructing low-cost and high-performance NFREAs, providing a valuable insight on the materials design.This study examines if parental neglect is significantly associated with adolescent cyberbullying perpetration, and whether this relationship is mediated by smartphone addiction. In addition, the moderation of self-regulation in the direct and indirect effects of parental neglect on cyberbullying perpetration among adolescents is determined. A random sample of 728 Chinese adolescents from Grade 10 to 12 in senior high schools respond to anonymous questionnaires regarding parental neglect, smartphone addiction, self-regulation and cyberbullying perpetration. The data are then analysed using macro PROCESS. Results reveal that adolescents who are neglected by parents are more likely to engage in cyberbullying perpetration. Smartphone addiction significantly partially mediates the above relationship. Moreover, self-regulation not only moderates the relationship of cyberbullying perpetration with parental neglect but also its association with smartphone addiction among adolescents. Proteasomal inhibitors This study contributes to a better understanding of how parental neglect increases the risk of adolescent cyberbullying perpetration, which may be reduced through tailored interventions.
To address access to cardiac rehabilitation (CR) for people in R&R areas, this research aimed to investigate (1) post discharge systems and support for people returning home from hospital following treatment for heart disease (HD). (2) propose changes to improve access to CR in R&R areas of NQ.

The genetic components (DNA) of human papillomavirus-related throat cancer (in the oropharynx) might be measured after surgery to help to predict whether treatment has been successful.Marine coastal zones are highly productive, and dominated by engineer species (e.g. macrophytes, molluscs, corals) that modify the chemistry of their surrounding seawater via their metabolism, causing substantial fluctuations in oxygen, dissolved inorganic carbon, pH, and nutrients. The magnitude of these biologically driven chemical fluctuations is regulated by hydrodynamics, can exceed values predicted for the future open ocean, and creates chemical patchiness in subtidal areas at various spatial (µm to meters) and temporal (minutes to months) scales. Although the role of hydrodynamics is well explored for planktonic communities, its influence as a crucial driver of benthic organism and community functioning is poorly addressed, particularly in the context of ocean global change. Hydrodynamics can directly modulate organismal physiological activity or indirectly influence an organism's performance by modifying its habitat. This review addresses recent developments in (i) the influence of hydrodynamics on the biological activity of engineer species, (ii) the description of chemical habitats resulting from the interaction between hydrodynamics and biological activity, (iii) the role of these chemical habitat as refugia against ocean acidification and deoxygenation, and (iv) how species living in such chemical habitats may respond to ocean global change. Recommendations are provided to integrate the effect of hydrodynamics and environmental fluctuations in future research, to better predict the responses of coastal benthic ecosystems to ongoing ocean global change.
To assess the cost, cost differential and affordability of current and recommended (healthy, equitable, culturally acceptable and more sustainable) diets in the Torres Strait Islands and compare with other Queensland locations.
The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healthy Diets ASAP (Australian Standardised Affordability and Pricing) methods protocol was applied in five randomly selected communities in the Torres Strait Islands.
The current diet was 32% more expensive than that recommended; 'discretionary' foods comprised 64% of the current diet cost. Families could save at least A$281.38 a fortnight by switching to recommended diets. However, these cost 35-40% more than elsewhere in Queensland. Recommended diets would cost 35% of median and 48% of welfare household income in the Torres Straits.
While less expensive than the current diet, recommended diets are unaffordable for most households. Consequently, many Torres Strait Islander families are at high risk of food insecurity and diet-related disease.
Urgent policy action is required to further lower the relative price of recommended diets, and also increase household incomes and welfare supplements to equitably improve food security and diet-related health, and contribute to environmental sustainability in the Torres Strait Islands.

This retrospective chart review examined real-world healthcare resource utilization (HRU) in patients with AML ineligible for intensive therapy who received first-line systemic therapy or best supportive care (BSC).
Data were collected anonymously on patients with AML who initiated first-line hypomethylating agents (HMA), low-dose cytarabine (LDAC), other systemic therapy, or BSC. HRU endpoints included hospitalizations, outpatient consultations, transfusions, and supportive care.
Of 1762 patients included, 46% received HMA, 11% received LDAC, 17% received other systemic therapy, 26% received BSC; median treatment durations were 118, 35, 33, and 57days, respectively. Most patients were hospitalized, most commonly for treatment administration, transfusion, or infection (HMA 82%, LDAC 93%, other systemic therapy 83%, BSC 83%). A median number of hospitalizations were 2-6 across systemic groups and two for BSC, with median durations of 8-18days. Transfusion rates and outpatient consultations were highest for HMA (80% and 79%) versus LDAC (57% and 53%), other systemic therapy (57% and 63%), and BSC (71% and 66%). Antivirals/antibiotics and antifungals were used more frequently than growth factors (72-92%, 34-63%, and 7-27%, respectively).
Patients with AML ineligible for intensive therapy have high HRU; novel therapies are needed to alleviate this burden.
