The 2019-nCoV infection that is caused by a novel strain of coronavirus was first detected in China in the end of December 2019 and declared a public health emergency of international concern by the World Health Organization on January 30, 2020. DNA inhibitor Community pharmacists in one of the first areas that had confirmed cases of the viral infection, Macau, joined the collaborative force in supporting the local health emergency preparedness and response arrangements. This paper aimed to improve the understanding of community pharmacists' role in case of 2019-CoV outbreak based on the practical experiences in consultation with the recommendations made by the International Pharmaceutical Federation on the Coronavirus 2019-nCoV outbreak. Laboratory rodents have been shown to have an ability to recognize the injury site and negative emotional state of their conspecifics in pain, resulting in empathic consoling behaviors and observational contagious pain (OCP). However, these empathic responses have been shown to be familiarity-dependent. In this report, we further explored whether the past pain experience could evoke empathic response in stranger observers. In our rodent model, two types of empathic response have been identified from naive cagemate observer (COnaive) during and after a priming dyadic social interaction (PDSI) with a cagemate demonstrator in pain (CDpain) the consolation and OCP. Consolation is represented by allolicking and allogrooming behaviors toward the CDpain, while the OCP is represented by a long-term mechanical pain hypersensitivity. The current results showed that (1) neither the consolation nor OCP could be identified in the naive noncagemate observer (NCOnaive) during and after a PDSI with a noncagemate demonstrator in pain (NCDpain); (2) nor were the two types of empathic response seen in the NCO, who had just experienced acute pain (NCOpainexp), during and after a PDSI with a naive unfamiliar conspecific (NCDnaive). However, both the consolation and OCP were dramatically identified in the NCOpainexp during and after a PDSI with a NCD in pain (NCDpain). The current results demonstrated that the past pain experience can evoke both consolation and OCP in stranger rat observers when witnessing a conspecific in pain, implicating that the processing of empathy for pain can be modulated by past negative mood experience. Many studies have confirmed a brain dysfunction in people with developmental dyslexia (DD) in certain brain regions, including the left superior temporal gyrus and the left fusiform gyrus. However, the neurobiological substrates in Japanese-speaking people with dyslexia are not fully understood, mostly due to the uniqueness of the orthographic systems. Since a substantial part of the written Japanese includes the logographic Kanji as well as the phonographic Kana systems, the reading disability might be caused not only by a dysfunction in the phonological system, but also by a dysfunction in the visual recognition system. Previous studies reported altered hierarchical visual word form processing in the left occipitotemporal cortex; however, it remains unclear whether the altered hierarchical visual processing is language stimuli-specific. Therefore, we aimed to investigate whether (a) Japanese-speaking individuals with DD exhibit atypical hierarchical visual processing, and if so, (b) whether the altered hierarchical visual processing is language stimuli-specific or not. The present study investigated the brain activation pattern for the hierarchical component of the Kanji characters and object stimuli in typically developing (TD) adolescents and adolescents with DD using functional magnetic resonance imaging. For the Kanji characters, adolescents with DD showed a greater activation in the left occipital gyrus and right occipital fusiform gyrus, and this hyperactivity was also found for pseudo and artificial Kanji characters. These results imply reliance on an early visual system in Kanji reading in Japanese-speaking adolescents with DD. Additionally, we also investigated the brain activity for object stimuli, and adolescents with DD showed a greater activation in the bilateral occipital gyri compared with the TD adolescents. These results imply an altered hierarchical visual processing characterized by overactivation in the early visual areas, which is a not restricted to language stimulus only. Unilateral proximal pulmonary artery stenosis is often seen in the setting of postoperative congenital heart disease. Accurate assessment of the hemodynamic significance of such a lesion is important so as to determine "When to intervene?" A thorough evaluation should include symptom assessment, anatomical assessment through detailed imaging, functional assessment using differential pulmonary blood flow measurement and cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Symptoms of exertional dyspnea or intolerance, decreased pulmonary blood flow to stenosed lung, and abnormal exertional performance would be factors to pursue therapy in the setting of significant anatomical narrowing. Safe and effective therapy can be offered through transcatheter or surgical techniques and has been shown to improve exertional performance. BACKGROUND/PURPOSE The inflammatory milieu has been firmly established to affect cancer progression. However, the connection between natural killer (NK) cells and prostate cancer (PCa) has not been elucidated. METHODS Prospective data on NK cell activity (NKA) and NK cell subset distribution patterns were evaluated from 51 patients treated with robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. Whole-blood samples were collected from patients preoperatively and 4-6 weeks postoperatively. The samples were subjected to NKA tests, NK cell number counts, determination of the NKG2D (activating receptor of NK cells), NKG2A (inhibiting receptor), and other surface markers. All the analyses were compared to the clinicopathological characteristics of patients. NKA was estimated by measuring interferon-γ (IFN-γ) levels after stimulation of the peripheral blood with PROMOCA™, which specifically stimulates the release of IFN-γ from NK cells. RESULTS NKA was lower in patients with PCa than in healthy participants (484.66 vs.
