This study was aimed to explore the attitude of Argentinean neonatologists in the delivery room on resuscitating infants with trisomies.

An anonymous questionnaire was completed by neonatologists staffing level-III neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) on resuscitation of children with trisomies 21, 18, and 13. Potential sociocultural factors influencing the decision to resuscitate were included.

Overall, 314 neonatologists in 34 units in the Buenos Aires region participated (response rate of 54%). The position of neonatologists regarding the resuscitation in the delivery room was that 98% would resuscitate newborns with trisomy 21, and 47% with trisomy 18 or trisomy 13. Resuscitation of newborns with trisomy 18 or trisomy 13 by neonatologists was significantly associated with working in the public sector, religious beliefs, and legal framework.

With improvement in the management and treatment of infants with trisomies 18 and 13, Argentinean neonatologists showed a favorable attitude toward resuscitating them in the delivery room.

· We explored the attitudes of Argentinean neonatologists on resuscitation of children with trisomies.. · Half of neonatologists would resuscitate newborns with trisomies18 and 13.. · These results suggest an ongoing paradigm shift of the most severe trisomies..

The study aimed to evaluate the efficacy of dual medication therapy (DMT) with oral acetaminophen and oral ibuprofen for the closure of a hemodynamically significant patent ductus arteriosus (hsPDA).

In a prospective case-control cohort study (July 2017-May 2019), infants <29 weeks' gestational age and birth weight <1,000 g at ≤14 postnatal days with hsPDA and ratio of the smallest ductal diameter to the ostium of the left pulmonary artery diameter >0.5 were eligible. Infants received 10 mg/kg oral ibuprofen followed by two additional doses of 5 mg/kg at 24 and 48 hours after the initial ibuprofen dose and concomitant treatment with 15 mg/kg oral acetaminophen every 6 hours for 3 days (12 doses). Success of PDA treatment was defined as a small or absent PDA as ascertained by echocardiographic measurements. The
-values of comparisons were adjusted for multiple comparisons to preserve an error rate of 5%.

Overall, 20 infants received oral DMT and 11 infants received intravenous single medicamal medication for PDA treatment is available.. · Dual oral medication therapy (ibuprofen and acetaminophen) could be an effective alternative treatment for PDA.. · Dual oral medication therapy (ibuprofen and acetaminophen) may have a better safety profile than currently approved medications such as intravenous indomethacin and intravenous ibuprofen..
This study was aimed to describe the cardiopulmonary profiles of adult patients with bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD), comparing them to normative adult values.

This study presents a retrospective chart review of all BPD patients followed in the adult BPD clinic, identified from institutional and archive databases, born preterm at ≤33 weeks estimated gestational age (EGA) between January 1980 and December 2000.

Forty-four patients with BPD (26.4 ± 2.7 weeks of EGA) were included. Average age at follow-up was 19 years. Majority (61.4%) of the patients had a diagnosis of asthma. read more Mean spirometry values were first second of forced expiration (FEV1) 74.1%, forced vital capacity (FVC) 80.7%, and FEV1/FVC 82.5%. Echocardiography (ECHO) images were reviewed, left ventricular (LV) structure and performance did not differ between obstructive and nonobstructive pulmonary function test (PFT) groups, but values of LV longitudinal strain were 4.8% lower than expected normal for adults. Patients with obstructive PFT had additional decreased right ventricular (RV) function by ECHO.

BPD patients in this study were found to have a burden of cardiorespiratory alterations that persisted into adulthood, with RV performance abnormalities found among patients with obstructive PFT.

· BPD patients born at extremes of prematurity have cardiorespiratory alterations in adulthood.. · Among patients with obstructive lung function, subtle cardiac performance abnormalities were found.. · Future directions should include systematic follow-up of premature newborns with BPD..

This study was aimed to characterize the parent experience of caring for a child with posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus and to describe parent preferences for counseling in the neonatal period and beyond.

This was a qualitative interview study. Parents of infants born preterm with posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus completed semistructured interviews. Data were analyzed using a content analysis approach.

Thematic saturation was reached on parent communication preferences after 10 interviews. Parent experiences of infant hydrocephalus broadly fell into two time periods, the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and after NICU discharge. The themes of uncertainty, isolation, hypervigilance, and the need for advocacy were common to each phase.

Parents expressed interest in the development of tiered NICU counseling tools that would provide evidence-based and family-centric information to (1) initiate connections with community and peer resources and (2) combat the isolation and hypervigilance that characterized their family experience of living with hydrocephalus.

· Infants with posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus are at risk for adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes.. · The parent experience of caring for a child with posthemorrhagic hydrocephalus is not well-described. In this interview study, parents described uncertainty, isolation, and hypervigilance.. · These findings call for structured NICU counseling and longitudinal family supports after discharge..

The noradrenergic effects contribute to the treatment of painful physical symptoms. Hyperprolactinaemia and galactorrhea are recognized side effects of psychotropic drugs used in the treatment of psychiatric diseases. Although hyperprolactinaemia is a known side effect of the tricyclic antidepressants, evidence on hyperprolactinaemia and galactorrhoea induced by the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) and the SNRIs is limited. Hyperprolactinaemia due to SSRI or SNRI therapy is usually asymptomatic and is diagnosed after a detailed examination of the patient following the emergence of galactorrhea. In this report, a case who developed amenorrhea, galactorrhea, and hyper-prolactinaemia identified at the 5th month of duloxetine for major depression will be discussed. After a month of drug-free period and cabergoline treatment, the prolactin levels returned to normal. The worldwide public health problem of suicide, requires a multidisciplinary assessment, given its economic, cultural, social and psychological aspects. The global COVID-19 pandemic that originated from the Peoples Republic of China in the last months of 2019 has the potential to trigger mental disorders and even suicidal attemps through fear, psychosocial pressures and as a result of disruption of the customary daily life styles. In this report we discuss a case of completed suicide of a 34-year old male who had confined himself to his home, after stocking up large amounts of food, drinking water and cleaning materials in response to the COVID-19 pandemic in our country using site investigation reports, medico-legal autopsy and psychological authopsy of the deceased. It was found out that the victim was following the internet and the television daily for news on the COVID-19 outbreak in the country. One week before the event, he had left his workplace telling his colleagues that he would confine himself to his home for 15-20 days to clean up the premises. Washed banknotes and blister tablets were found in the house as well as stocked water and cooked food. The deceased had twice consulted hospitals for fear of COVID-19 infection 2 days before his demise. It was discussed that he might have the diagnosis of "mixed anxiety and depression". Evaluation of his experiences, discourses and behaviours within the span of 3-4 days before the act and the site investigation have suggested that he might have attempted suicide as a response to stress.
The postpartum period is a process that affects mothers and fathers mentally. In this systematic review, we aimed to investigate the literature on postpartum depression and elucidate the factors associated with depression in fathers/men; and eventually to draw attention to the subject.

A literature search was conducted between April-May 2019 including qualitative and quantitative research articles published between 2009-2019 in Pubmed, Science Direct, EBSCOhost, Turkish Psychiatric Index and Ulakbim Medical Databases. A total of 18 articles in English (n = 17) and Turkish (n = 1) were included.

The majority of studies were quantitative (n=17) and 1 had a qualitative design. 22.2% were carried out in the Americas, 61.1% in Europe and 16.7% in Asia. In 16 of the studies, Edinburgh Postpartum Depression Scale was used to diagnose postpartum depression in fathers, and 4 of them assessed psychometric properties. According to the results of the findings, unemployment, age, economic status and social support weve that there is a need for research on this subject in our country.
The purpose of this study is to investigate the validity and reliability of PISMI-TR, the Parents Internalized Stigma of Mental Illness scale, which had been previously adapted to the Turkish.

The data of this methodological study were acquired between June 2017 and August 2018 from the parents of 281 individuals who were diagnosed with a mental disorder and followed up at the adult psychiatry polyclinics of a university hospital, by means of an Information Form, the PISMI-TR scale and the Beliefs toward Mental Illness (BMI) scale. SPSS 22.0 and LISREL 8.89 were used for data analysis. The content and the construct validities were determined for the scale validity and the internal consistency values were calculated for the reliability.

The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was 0.87 for the total score of the scale, and it varied in the 0.69-0.81 range for the subscale scores. The confirmatory factor analysis validated a 5-factor structure for the PISMI-TR scale tested on the participants of this study; and the adaptive ad statistical values were at an acceptable level.
