RBM5-AS1 stimulates radioresistance in medulloblastoma by means of stabilizing of SIRT6 proteins.
MFI (median fluorescence intensity) of CCR5 expression on FoxP3
Treg cells was significantly decreased in severe asthma compared to the mild-to-moderate asthma and control groups. CCR5 expression on FoxP3
Treg cells as MFI positively correlated with lung function parameters FEV
% and PEF% in patients with severe asthma.

High CCR5 Tregs expression as MFI is associated with improved in lung function parameters FEV

The reversibility test measures an increase in ventilation parameters after the administration of 400 mg of a short-acting β-agonist (SABA). It is worth noting that a typical dosage, applied as a rescue medicine for bronchospastic dyspnoea, is significantly less, i.e., 100-200 mg.

To assess the effects of inhaled 400 mg fenoterol (in the bronchodilator reversibility test) on the heart rate and the development of tachyarrhythmias in subjects aged 65 and above.

A total of 53 subjects (45 women) aged 77; 68-82 (median; interquartile range) in stable clinical condition were included in the study. Data including medical history, physical examinations, blood biochemistry, chest X-ray, 12-lead electrocardiogram, 24-hour Holter ECG monitoring, bronchodilator test, and echocardiography were obtained. During the Holter ECG monitoring, the bronchodilator test using 400 mg fenoterol (Berotec pMDI) was performed.

A slight but statistically significant (
= 0.02) increase in heart rate from 71 to 75 per min (median) was noted after the administration of fenoterol. No statistically significant differences were found in the number of extrasystolic beats of either supraventricular (
= 0.42) or ventricular origin (
= 0.50). In addition, the subjects did not show any potentially dangerous arrhythmias or significant signs of coronary artery disease. However, there was a significant increase in the number of supraventricular beats in the subjects who were not taking β-blockers.

The use of 400 mg fenoterol in a bronchodilator reversibility test in elderly subjects does not entail any significant cardiovascular risk.

One of the examples of genes whose expression can be altered by the action of ustekinumab is TGF-β. It is a pleiotropic cytokine whose activity affects psoriatic changes and the state of homeostasis of the whole organism.

To evaluate the effect of ustekinumab on the transcriptional activity of TGF-β family genes in patients with psoriatic arthritis and to check whether the results obtained can be helpful in monitoring the progress of treatment.

From total PBMCs obtained from peripheral blood of 14 patients with psoriatic arthritis, total RNA was isolated. The expression level of the

Leg ulcers are a frequently observed medical problem affecting 3-5% of the general population over 65 years of age. The most common factor responsible for the development of leg ulcers is chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). It is believed that during the formation of an ulcer there are two processes occurring simultaneously, extracellular matrix (ECM) degradation and angiogenesis in which several proteins including matrix metalloproteinases, angiogenic and regulatory factors are engaged.

To determine the serum concentration of matrix metalloproteinase-1 (MMP-1), -9 (MMP-9), tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases-1 (TIMP-1), angiogenin and vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) in patients suffering from venous leg ulcers and in the healthy control group.

The study group consisted of 71 Caucasians (39 patients, 32 controls). To evaluate the serum concentration of MMP-1, MMP-9, TIMP-1, VEGF and angiogenin, the ELISA technique was used.

Mean MMP-1 and MMP-9 concentrations in the study group were 14.1d concentration of VEGF and angiogenin in the study group compared to the control group shows that angiogenesis occurs simultaneously with ECM remodelling. The human organism is inhabited by very diverse microorganisms, which constitute the so-called human microbiome and are necessary for the proper functioning of the macroorganism. The correct microbiome ensures homeostasis of the body. A disturbance in its homeostasis leads to dysbiosis. Such deviations may also be related to the development of inflammatory skin diseases, including atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. This review aims to analyse the most current published data on the microbiome of the human skin and examine its role in cutaneous skin diseases, such as atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. This review was compiled by collaborating dermatologists specializing in atopic dermatitis and psoriasis. A comprehensive review of current literature was done using PubMed and limited to relevant case reports and original papers on the skin microbiome in atopic dermatitis and/or psoriasis. It has not been yet established whether changes in the microbiome are the cause or consequence of disease (atopic dermatitis/psoriasis). However, it was found that in the cases where pathological microflora predominated, an intensification of lesion severity is observed, while with clinical improvement, commensal microflora is restored. Modification of the composition of the microflora may lead to changes in the activation of the immune system and eventually to the development of inflammatory diseases. Adverse effects on the microbiome may include antibiotics, poor diet, stress and adverse environmental conditions. However, more research is needed to identify exact details and mechanisms.Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma represents the second most common non-melanoma skin cancer and its incidence increases worldwide. This review provides an overview of selected exogenous risk factors for cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma, which include drugs (azathioprine, calcineurin inhibitors, hydrochlorothiazide, angiotensin-converting-enzyme inhibitors) and few dietary factors (fat meet, whole milk products, arsenic) to better understand squamous skin cancer etiopathogenesis. Ingredients such as leafy vegetables, nuts, fish, caffeine, niacin are preventive factors for cutaneous squamous cell cancer. The heart transplant recipients have an increased risk of squamous cell carcinoma development than kidney or liver transplant ones and switching photosensitizing azathioprine to mycophenolate mofetil can reduce the incidence of cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma. The great attention should be paid to early change of cardiac photosensitizing antihypertensive drugs to non-photosensitizing ones among patients with a history of prior skin cancers and among organ transplant recipients. Based on current knowledge that ultra-violet radiation is the main risk factor for squamous cell carcinoma development, promotion of the skin self-examination, photoprotection, tanning bed avoidance and early skin cancer diagnosis is important for this tumour prevention.
Recent studies on pathomechanisms of vitiligo have focused on the abnormality of keratinocytes that affect the melanocytes. Aquaporin-3 (AQP3) was implicated as a mechanism for keratinocyte apoptosis owing to the relationship between the PI3K/AKT pathway and the E-cadherin-catenin complex.

Based on this evidence, we undertook a cross-sectional study to assess the skin and blood AQP-3 levels in patients with non-segmental vitiligo in comparison to controls and to correlate these levels with malondialdehyde (MDA) levels and total antioxidant status (TAS) in the skin and blood of patients with non-segmental vitiligo and also with their disease activity.

Thirty-six patients with non-segmental vitiligo and 36 controls were included in this study. AQP3, TAS and MDA levels were assayed both in skin as well as in circulation.

We observed that skin and plasma aquaporin and TAS were lowered and MDA levels were increased in patients with non-segmental vitiligo as compared to controls. There was a significant negative correlation of skin and plasma aquaporin levels with disease activity. We also observed the local and systemic AQP3 deficiency to correlate with the local and systemic oxidative stress in vitiligo.

Our results demonstrate a systemic and local AQP3 deficiency in vitiligo correlating with the disease severity and oxidative stress which might have therapeutic implications.

Psoriasis is a common, chronic inflammatory disease of the skin. Although its relationship with cardiovascular risk factors is one of the main causes of mortality, the association between psoriasis and cardiovascular events is controversial.

The aim of this study is to measure the levels of hs-CRP and pregnancy-associated plasma protein-A (PAPP-A) related to atherosclerosis in patients with moderate-severe psoriasis and to evaluate their possible association with disease severity.

This study included 45 moderate-severe psoriasis patients without additional risk factors for cardiovascular disease and 45 healthy individuals as a control group.

Serum PAPP-A levels in both groups were given as two different variables, detectable and non- detectable, based on a value of 0.004 U/lL. When PAPP-A levels were compared, there was no statistically significant difference between the groups.

The use of the PAPP-A test in the evaluation of early-stage atherosclerosis in moderate-severe psoriasis patients who do not have additional risk factors for cardiovascular diseases may not be sufficient.

Patients presenting with cutaneous symptomatology may in fact suffer from underlying psychiatric conditions. Individuals diagnosed with delusional infestation (DI) have a fixed false belief of being infested with certain organisms or objects.

To analyse clinical features of subjects with DI who were admitted to the tertiary dermatology ward.

A retrospective analysis concerning DI patients hospitalized between 1997 and 2019 was carried out. The emphasis was put on the duration of symptoms, psychiatric symptomatology (including the "specimen sign"), comorbidities as well as therapy.

We gathered data regarding 21 consecutive patients with DI. The mean age of subjects was 65.2 ±13.3 years, the majority were females (76.2%). The mean time span between the disease onset and diagnosis was 1.9 ±1.7 years. MEK inhibitor clinical trial Previous psychiatric consultations were attended by 57.0% of patients. The specimen sign was present in 47.6% of cases, whereas the most common suspected causative factors were described as worms (52.4%), unspecified parasites (42.
