Future research must investigate how structural interventions at the dyadic level could address the negative impact of criminal justice involvement on sexual and injection drug HIV risks within the contexts of couples who are PWID.In 2009, Vietnam officially decriminalised drug use through amendments to the criminal law. The amendments outlined explicitly that illicit drug use would be seen as an administrative violation, but not a criminal offence. This legal transition has not been without implementation challenges, and police particularly have struggled to find a balance between drug law enforcement and decriminalisation. Despite being a health-orientated drug policy amendment, in practice it allows police to send suspected drug users to compulsory treatment centres without judicial oversight and people who use drugs continue to face challenges in their interface with law enforcement which can negatively impact access to harm reduction and community-based treatment programs. Using policy desk research combined with indepth interviews with 14 key informants from people representing a range of relevant Vietnamese government (n = 10) and non-government agencies (n = 4), this paper explores some insights and considerations into how decrr understanding of the interplay between policing and the implementation of harm reduction policy and programs, decriminalisation can co-exist within a broader and deeply entrenched drug control strategy in Vietnam.The aim of this work was to study the pyrolysis of waste biomass and plastics and use the produced biochar for the removal of heavy metals from aqueous solution. The batch experiments of Fe, Ni, Cu, Cr, Cd and Pb with biochars and plastic chars were carried for determining the effects of various experimental parameters (feedstock, contact time, adsorbent dose, pH and pyrolysis temperature). The isothermal sorption models demonstrated that the sorption capacities of biochars are higher in comparison to the plastic chars. The maximum removal efficiency shown by biochars and plastic chars at pH 4 was 99.86% and 99.93%, respectively. Both the carbon materials are thereby recognized as an environment-friendly and efficient pollutant control material at various studied parameters.In this study, the performance of volatile fatty acids (VFAs) production and phosphorus (P) release during Al-waste activated sludge (Al-WAS) anaerobic fermentation with stepwise pH increases from 8 to 11 was investigated via a long-term acclimation strategy. As results, VFAs concentration increased with increasing pH and the maximum yield of VFAs was 358.03 mg-COD/g VS at pH 11, which was much higher than at pH 8. Filgotinib P was also released during the process, and the P concentration increased gradually from 26 mg/L at pH 8 to 186 mg/L at pH 11, accounting for 35.8% of the total P in the Al-WAS. The P distribution results demonstrated the dissolution of non-apatite inorganic phosphorus (NAIP) and organic P in the sludge contributed to release P into the liquid at pH 8, 9, and 10, while inorganic P release originated from the dissolution of NAIP at pH 11.Lignocellulose is an abundant substrate for biogas production; however, for efficient utilization, proper pre-treatment is required to enhance the biomethane yield and hydrolysis rate significantly. Phenolic compounds from dissolved lignin, produced during alkali pre-treatment, have inhibitory effects on the anaerobic digestion; however, the possible inhibitory effects of solid lignin have not gathered enough interest. Especially, the effect of solid lignin on methanogenesis remains a knowledge gap. In this study, kraft lignin was used as a model solid lignin substrate for its co-digestion with microcrystalline cellulose. A new approach of modelling biomethane production curves using smoothing splines was developed to describe the long-term inhibitory effects of solid lignin on hydrolysis and methanogenesis. The method gives possibility to describe long-term inhibitory effects by using batch instead of continuous test data. Results revealed that kraft lignin showed mild inhibitory effects on methanogens. However lignin impact combined with volatile fatty accumulation can prolong hydrolysis and reactor recovery start-up by 47.3% and 75.3%, respectively. For small dosages of solid lignin adaptation of methanogens is possible.Bio-wastes from different agro-based industries are increasing at a rapid rate with the growing human population's demand for the products. The industries procure raw materials largely from agriculture, finish it with the required major product, and produce huge bio-wastes which are mostly disposed unscientifically. This creates serious environmental problems and loss of resources and nutrients. Traditional bio-wastes disposal possess several demerits which again return with negative impact over the eco-system. Anaerobic digestion, composting, co-composting, and vermicomposting are now-a-days given importance due to the improved and modified methods with enhanced transformation of bio-wastes into suitable soil amendments. The advanced and modified methods like biochar assisted composting and vermicomposting is highlighted with the updated knowledge in the field. Hence, the present study has been carried to compile the effective and efficient methods of utilizing industry generated bio-wastes for circularity between agriculture - industrial sectors to promote sustainability.Macrophages are the primary cell type in the immune system and are activated in response to diverse external stimuli. They can exert inflammatory or anti-inflammatory responses depending on the type of stimuli in the system, and as such rely on a complex network of diverse signaling pathways to function. Non-coding RNAs have recently been established as an important class of regulators linked to the activation of macrophages. Although the roles of many microRNAs have been described, the majority of the other types of regulatory non-coding RNAs, including long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs), remain undefined. In this study, we performed a comprehensive analysis of several large RNA sequencing datasets to identify common lncRNAs differentially expressed after M1 or M2 macrophage induction. We identified the lncRNAs that underwent significant changes in each dataset and established a list of commonly altered lncRNAs. We expect that our data will act as a valuable resource for future studies designed to uncover the roles of these lncRNAs in determining macrophage fates.
