N2 electroreduction into NH3 represents an attractive prospect for N2 utilization. Nevertheless, this process suffers from low Faraday efficiency (FE) and yield rate for NH3 . In this work, a highly efficient metal-free catalyst is developed by introducing F atoms into a 3D porous carbon framework (F-doped carbon) toward N2 electroreduction. At -0.2 V versus reversible hydrogen electrode (RHE), the F-doped carbon achieves the highest FE of 54.8% for NH3 , which is 3.0 times as high as that (18.3%) of pristine carbon frameworks. Notably, at -0.3 V versus RHE, the yield rate of F-doped carbon for NH3 reaches 197.7 µgNH3 mg-1 cat. h-1 . Such a value is more than one order of magnitude higher than those of other metal-free electrocatalysts under the near-ambient conditions for NH3 product to date. Mechanistic studies reveal that the improved performance in N2 electroreduction for F-doped carbon originates from the enhanced binding strength of N2 and the facilitated dissociation of N2 into *N2 H. F bonding to C atom creates a Lewis acid site due to the different electronegativity between the F and C atoms. As such, the repulsive interaction between the Lewis acid site and proton H suppresses the activity of H2 evolution reaction, thus enhancing the selectivity of N2 electroreduction into NH3 . © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. METHODS Among the 855 tumors of patients who underwent partial/radical nephrectomy or renal biopsy for presumed renal cell carcinoma between 2007 and 2018, 39 renal tumors were diagnosed as nonclassical angiomyolipoma, including epithelioid angiomyolipoma and fat-poor angiomyolipoma. We retrospectively evaluated the incidence of epithelioid angiomyolipoma. Furthermore, we analyzed computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging results, including diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging findings of epithelioid angiomyolipoma and fat-poor angiomyolipoma. RESULTS The incidence of epithelioid angiomyolipoma (n = 7) was 17.9% of surgically resected non-classical angiomyolipoma. The radiological appearance of epithelioid angiomyolipoma was hyperattenuating on unenhanced computed tomography images with iso or low intensity on T2-weighted magnetic resonance imaging. The mean apparent diffusion coefficient value of the solid component in epithelioid angiomyolipoma was significantly lower than that in fat-poor angiomyolipoma (median 0.79 × 10-3 vs 1.07 × 10-3 mm2 /s, P = 0.0019). CONCLUSIONS The proportion of epithelioid angiomyolipoma in our Japanese cohort was equivalent to that of the reported series in the USA. The apparent diffusion coefficient value is potentially useful to differentiate between epithelioid angiomyolipoma and fat-poor angiomyolipoma. Further research is required to establish the imaging diagnostic criteria for epithelioid angiomyolipoma. © 2020 The Japanese Urological Association.Aberrant epigenetic reprogramming is one of the major barriers for somatic cell reprogramming. Although our previous study has indicated that H3K27me3 demethylase KDM6A can improve the nuclear reprogramming efficiency, the mechanism remains unclear. In this study, we demonstrate that the overexpression of Kdm6a may improve induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) reprogramming efficiency in a demethylase enzymatic activity-dependent manner. KDM6A erased H3K27me3 on pluripotency- and metabolism-related genes, and consequently facilitated changing the gene expression profile and metabolic pattern to an intermediate state. Furthermore, KDM6A may promote IL-6 expression, and the secreted IL-6 may further improve iPSC reprogramming efficiency. In addition, KDM6A may promote PTEN expression to decrease p-AKT and p-mTOR levels, which in turn facilitates reprogramming. Overall, our results reveal that KDM6A may promote iPSC reprogramming efficiency by accelerating changes in the gene expression profile and the metabolic pattern in a demethylation-activity-dependent manner. These results may provide an insight into the relationship between epigenomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics, and reprogramming. selleck compound ©AlphaMed Press 2020.The assembling behaviors of nonchiral dicationic amphiphilic molecules (gemini) in the presence of the mixture of chiral anionic nucleotides and nonchiral anions are investigated. We demonstrate that subtle balance of various physico-chemical parameters and the competition between chiral and nonchiral anions at the interface of gemini assemblies influences the expression of molecular chirality at the micrometer scale through the hierarchical molecular assembly. © 2020 Wiley Periodicals LLC.Kinesin family member 11 (KIF11) is a plus end-directed kinesin indispensable for the formation of the bipolar spindle in metaphase, where it objects to the action of minus end-directed molecular motors. Here, we hypothesize that KIF11 might be a therapeutic target of breast cancer and regulated by miR-30a. Cell Counting Kit 8 assays were used to investigate cell proliferation. Invasion assays were used to survey the motility of cells. Kaplan-Meier and Cox proportional analyses were employed for this outcome study. The prognostic significance and performance of KIF11 were validated on 17 worldwide independent microarray datasets and two The Cancer Genome Atlas-Breast Invasive Carcinoma sets. microRNA was predicted targeting KIF11 through sequence alignment in microRNA.org and confirmed by coexpression analysis in human breast cancer samples. Dual-luciferase reporter assays were employed to validate the interaction between miR-30a and KIF11 further. Higher KIF11 mRNA levels and lower miR-30a were significantly associated with poor survival of breast cancer patients. Inhibition of KIF11 by small-hairpin RNA significantly reduced the proliferation and invasion capabilities of the breast cancer cells. Meanwhile, downregulation of KIF11 could enhance the cytotoxicity of adriamycin in breast cancer cell lines MCF-7 and MDA-MB-231. A population study also validated that chemotherapy and radiotherapy significantly improved survival in early-stage breast cancer patients with low KIF11 expression levels. Further bioinformatics analysis demonstrated that miR-30a could interact with KIF11 and validated by dual-luciferase reporter assays. Therefore, KIF11 is a potential therapeutic target of breast cancer. miR-30a could specifically interact with KIF11 and suppress its expression in breast cancer. © 2020 The Authors. Molecular Carcinogenesis published by Wiley Periodicals, Inc.We adopt an empirical approach to analyse, measure and decompose inequality of opportunity (IOp) in health, based on a latent class model. This addresses some of the limitations that affect earlier work in this literature concerning the definition of types, such as partial observability, the ad hoc selection of circumstances, the curse of dimensionality and unobserved type-specific heterogeneity that may lead to biased estimates of IOp. We apply our latent class approach to measure IOp in allostatic load, a composite measure of biomarker data. Using data from Understanding Society The UK Household Longitudinal Study (UKHLS), we find that a latent class model with three latent types best fits the data, with the corresponding types characterised in terms of differences in their observed circumstances. Decomposition analysis shows that about two thirds of the total inequalities in allostatic load can be attributed to the direct and indirect contribution of circumstances and that the direct contribution of effort is small. Further analysis conditional on age-sex groups reveals that the relative (percentage) contribution of circumstances to the total inequalities remains mostly unaffected and the direct contribution of effort remains small. © 2020 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.The site-selective allylative and allenylative dearomatization of indoles with alcohols is performed under carbocatalytic regime in the presence of graphene oxide (GO, 10 wt% loading) as the promoter. Metal-free conditions, absence of stoichiometric additive, environmentally friendly conditions (H2O/CH3CN, 55 °C, 6 h), broad substrate scope (33 examples, yield up to 92%) and excellent site- and stereoselectivity characterize the present methodology. Moreover, a covalent activation model exerted by GO functionalities was corroborated by spectroscopic, experimental and computational evidences. Recovering and regeneration of the GO catalyst via simple acidic treatment was also documented. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim. The key to bringing the electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation from conception to application lies in the development of high-efficiency, cost-effective electrocatalysts. Layered double hydroxides (LDHs), also known as hydrotalcites, are promising electrocatalysts for water splitting due to multiple metal centers and large surface areas. However, their activities in the electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation are unsatisfactory. Herein, we report a simple and effective way of phosphorus doping to regulate the charge distribution in LDHs, thus promoting the nitrogen adsorption and activation. The P-doped LDHs are further coupled to a self-supported, conductive matrix, i.e., a carbon nanofibrous membrane, which prevents their aggregation as well as ensures rapid charge transfer at the interface. By this strategy, decent ammonia yield (1.72×10-10 mol s-1 cm-2) and Faradaic efficiency (23%) are delivered at -0.5 V vs. RHE in 0.1M Na2SO4, which offers a new opportunity of tapping the unknown potentials of the well-known hydrotalcites (LDHs) in the field of electrocatalytic nitrogen fixation. © 2020 WILEY-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. As a result, it was proposed that racemic mandelic acid can be analyzed with a phenyl column by using a mobile phase composed of 10 mM ammonium acetate buffer (pH 4.2) and 0.02% (w/v) HP-β-CD at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min at 40°C after the passage of 10 mM ammonium acetate buffer (pH 4.2) containing 0.1% (w/v) HP-β-CD as a precoating mobile phase for 60 min. It is suggested that HP-β-CD is bound with a phenyl group on the surface of the stationary phase to allow a phenyl column to act as a transient chiral column, and injected mandelic acid can form the ternary complex with the adsorbed HP-β-CD. The longer retention time of D-mandelic acid than the L-isomer for HPLC can be explained from the higher stability of the HP-β-CD complex with D-mandelic acid, which was confirmed by CE experiment with HP-β-CD as a selector.
