This randomized-controlled trial is the first trial to test the efficacy of iCBT for improving endometriosis-related QoL. Potential predictor variables and key mechanisms in treatment will be investigated to enable further progression in medical and psychological care for patients with endometriosis.

The upper limb muscle strength and motion economy are important factors accounting for DP performance in cross-country sit-skiing. The present study investigates how upper limb muscle strength predicts DP performance in cross-country sit-skiing. A total of 19 female non-disabled college students (age 23.2 ± 0.8 years, BMI 20.4 ± 2.2) performed 30-s and 3-min DP performance tests using a sit-skiing ergometer. Isokinetic muscle strength of the shoulder and elbow extensor were measured at the angular velocity of 30°/s, 60°/s, and 120°/s with an ISOMED2000 isokinetic system. A medium correlation was found between DP output power and isokinetic upper limb muscle strength (shoulder strength at all speeds, r = 0.39-0.74, p ≤ 0.1). Multiple regression analyses which were employed to predict power production in the 30-s and 3-min tests showed that shoulder extension strength at 60°/s accounted for 34% of the variation in the 30-s test, and 40% of the variance in the 3-min test. Muscle strength and biomechanical analysis of DP process indicated that upper limb extensor muscle strength and muscle coordination were important factors for the power output generation in sit-skiing DP. These results may use to guide special physical fitness training for paralympic cross-country sit-skiing.
Environmental exposures have been associated with the juvenile idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (JIIM). We undertook a questionnaire-based study to evaluate patient-reported exposures as possible risk factors for JIIM.

One-hundred-seven patients with JIIM were enrolled in a myositis natural history protocol and completed environmental questionnaires. Frequencies of exposures in clinical and myositis-specific autoantibody (MSA) groups were examined. Patients with juvenile dermatomyositis (JDM) and juvenile connective tissue myositis (JCTM) more frequently received an immunization within 1 year of diagnosis compared to juvenile polymyositis (57.5 and 71.4% vs 0.0%, p ≤ 0.017). JCTM patients were more often underweight at diagnosis relative to JDM patients (42.9% vs 7.0%, p = 0.002). MSA-negative patients more frequently had gastroenteritis within a year of diagnosis compared to patients with anti-MDA5 autoantibodies (28.6% vs 0.0%, p = 0.032). Heavy exercise was more frequent in MSA-negative and anti-MDA5 groups compared to the anti-TIF-1 autoantibody group (42.9 and 35.3% vs. 9.0%, p ≤ 0.047). Medications received within 1 year of diagnosis were more frequent in MSA-negative patients relative to those with anti-MDA5 autoantibodies (92.9% vs. 52.8% p = 0.045). Various attempts have been made to monitor and map waste, but the proposed approaches are difficult and complicated, and they incur high costs. In this study, to overcome limitations in monitoring and mapping plastic waste, using combined optical and thermal sensors installed on drones is proposed. The study area is the riparian zone, or the zone around the river, where the accumulation of plastic waste at the mouth of the river eventually reaches the sea. The image data obtained were processed using machine learning methods to produce high accuracy and precision. To determine the effectiveness of the proposed method, an accuracy assessment was conducted. The results of this study indicate that the combination of optical and thermal sensors provides the best accuracy compared to using only single optical or thermal image data.
Chronic morphine exposure induces immunosuppression in the peripheral and central nervous system, resulting in susceptibility of patients to invading pathogens. Mitophagy is a crucial regulator of inflammation, and dysregulated mitophagy may cause immunosuppression, but whether mitophagy is linked with morphine-induced immunosuppression in the brain remains unknown. NLRX1 is the only mitochondrially localized NOD family receptor protein which serves as a critical regulator in immunity and mitophagy activation, but it remains an enigma how NLRX1 functions in the crosstalk between microglial inflammatory defense and mitophagy in the presence of morphine.

Here, we develop quantitative phase velocimetry (QPV) as a label-free approach to make the invisible flow of mass within cells visible and quantifiable. We benchmark our approach against alternative image registration methods, a theoretical error model, and synthetic data. Our method tracks not just individual labeled particles or molecules, but the entire flow of bulk material through the cell. This enables us to measure diffusivity within distinct cell compartments using a single approach, which we use here for direct comparison of nuclear and cytoplasmic diffusivity. As a label-free method, QPV can be used for long-term tracking to capture dynamics through the cell cycle.
An increase in the incidence of central venous catheter (CVC)-related thrombosis (CRT) has been reported in pediatric intensive care patients over the past decade. Risk factors for the development of CRT are not well understood, especially in children. The study objective was to identify potential clinical risk factors associated with CRT with novel fusion machine learning models.

Patients aged 0-18 who were admitted to intensive care units from December 2015 to December 2018 and underwent at least one CVC placement were included. Two fusion model approaches (stacking and blending) were used to build a better performance model based on three widely used machine learning models (logistic regression, random forest and gradient boosting decision tree). High-impact risk factors were identified based on their contribution in both fusion artificial intelligence models.

A total of 478 factors of 3871 patients and 3927 lines were used to build fusion models, one of which achieved quite satisfactory performance (AUC = 0.82, recall = 0.85, accuracy = 0.65) in 5-fold cross validation. A total of 11 risk factors were identified based on their independent contributions to the two fusion models. Some risk factors, such as D-dimer, thrombin time, blood acid-base balance-related factors, dehydrating agents, lymphocytes and basophils were identified or confirmed to play an important role in CRT in children.

Reliable assessment of individual risk is required for effective and cost-efficient medical care in these patients. The Polyscore is a previously established risk predictor consisting of seven autonomic tests derived from electrocardiogram, blood pressure, and respiration. The Polyscore allows classification of survivors of myocardial infarction in groups at low, intermediate and high mortality risk. The aim of this study was to investigate the prognostic value of the Polyscore in diabetic survivors of acute myocardial infarction, which may be impaired by the presence of diabetic autonomic neuropathy. Survivors of an acute myocardial infarction were included in a prospective cohort study during hospitalisation due to the index event at two university hospitals in Munich, Germany. The Polyscore was determined from simultaneous non-invasive 30-min recordings of electrocardiogram, continuous arterial blood pres9). Consistent results were observed for cardiac mortality. This analysis shows that the Polyscore predicts all-cause and cardiac mortality in diabetic survivors of acute myocardial infarction. Within these patients it identifies a large population not affected by the excess mortality associated with diabetes in this setting.
