Fuzzy time series (FTS) forecasting models show a great performance in predicting time series, such as air pollution time series. However, they have caused major issues by utilizing random partitioning of the universe of discourse and ignoring repeated fuzzy sets. In this study, a novel hybrid forecasting model by integrating fuzzy time series to Markov chain and C-Means clustering techniques with an optimal number of clusters is presented. This hybridization contributes to generating effective lengths of intervals and thus, improving the model accuracy. The proposed model was verified and validated with real time series data sets, which are the benchmark data of actual trading of Taiwan Stock Exchange Capitalization Weighted Stock Index (TAIEX) and PM10 concentration data from Melaka, Malaysia. In addition, a comparison was made with some existing fuzzy time series models. Furthermore, the mean absolute percentage error, mean squared error and Theil's U statistic were calculated as evaluation criteria to illustrate the performance of the proposed model. The empirical analysis shows that the proposed model handles the time series data sets more efficiently and provides better overall forecasting results than existing FTS models. The results prove that the proposed model has greatly improved the prediction accuracy, for which it outperforms several fuzzy time series models. Therefore, it can be concluded that the proposed model is a better option for forecasting air pollution parameters and any kind of random parameters.
The impact of heavy metals on pulmonary function among young adults has been scarcely studied, especially by a longitudinal cohort study.

We prospectively enrolled 974 young adults (aged 20-45 years) during 2017-2019 and measured pulmonary function and urinary heavy metals, including manganese, copper, chromium, iron, nickel, zinc, cadmium, and lead. Among them, 461 participants had examination of the same urinary heavy metals during 2006-2008, which could be used as a cohort for long-term effect of urinary metals on pulmonary function.

In the 974 enrolled participants, urinary heavy metals were within normal range. The urinary manganese level was the only significant factor for the observed/predicted ratios of forced vital capacity (FVC %)(β coefficient -1.217, p=0.030), forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV1%)(β -1.664, p<0.001), and FEV1/FVC% of predicted (β -0.598, p=0.047) in multivariable linear regression under cross sectional design. In cohort analysis, the urinary manganese level was also negatively associated with the FEV1% (β -1.920, p=0.021). There was no significance between other urinary heavy metals and pulmonary function for all participants. The urinary manganese significantly negatively correlated with FVC%, FEV1% and FEV1/FVC% in female subgroup whereas copper and iron were significantly negatively correlated with FVC% in male subgroup.

Among urinary heavy metals, urinary manganese level was associated with pulmonary function negatively, even the level was within normal range. In addition, women might be more susceptible to manganese. There is emergent need to conduct further investigation to confirm the respiratory hazardous effects of manganese.

However, the mediation of existing extraneous substances in the environment, such as dissolved organic matter (DOM), could regulate and affect the heavy metals adsorption process on biochar. In our study, we mainly focus on the regulation mechanism of modified biochar on the adsorption process of cadmium mediated by exogenous DOM. The modification significantly changed the functional groups composition on biochar, thus improving the adsorption capacity of cadmium on biochar. In the adsorption system concerned, the combination was formed between DOM and cadmium to a certain extent. The combination had a certain correlation with the influence on the adsorption capacity of cadmium onto biochar in the system.Microcystin-LR (MC-LR) is one of the most worldwide harmful cyanobacterial toxins. A lots of antibodies against MC-LR have been generated and characterized. However, the knowledge about the epitopes of MC-LR was still limited. The objective of this study was to analyze the epitopes of MC-LR and demonstrate the binding mode of MC-LR with its antibody. The variable genes of a mouse hybridoma cell line (Mab5H1-3B3) raised against MC-LR have been cloned and assembled in a single chain variable fragment (scFv), and then soluble expressed in E.coli BL21. Based on the scFv, the IC50 and IC10 for MC-LR were determined to be 7.45 nM and 0.30 nM by competitive ELISA. And the scFv also showed 115% and 112% cross-reactivities to MC-RR and MC-YR, and 59% to MC-LA. By molecular docking, the binding mode between MC-LR and its scFv was demonstrated. A hydrogen bond interaction was observed between the carbonyl group of Adda5 residue of MC-LR and its scFv, and the guanidyl group of Arg4 residue and phenyl group of Adda5 residue of MC-LR were also involved in the interaction. These predicted epitopes were supported by antibody cross-reactivity data. By comparing the antibody informatics of MC-LR scFv with its predicted paratopes, VH-CDR1 was crucial for MC-LR binding, and its specificity could be tuned by engineering in Vκ-CDR1 and Vκ-CDR3. These information would be useful for the hapten design for microcystins or improving the properties of MC-LR scFv in vitro.Hepatitis B virus (HBV) e antigen (HBeAg) was discovered in the sera of HBV patients nearly 50 years ago. link2 It is not essential for HBV to infect or replicate in hepatocytes. Earlier clinical studies suggested that this antigen might play an important role for HBV to establish persistence in babies after its mother-to-child transmission. Subsequent clinical studies also suggested that HBeAg might have immunomodulatory activities. In recent years, a large body of information on how HBeAg might modulate host immunity was published. In this review, we summarize recent research progresses on the immunomodulatory activities of HBeAg and discuss how these activities of HBeAg may promote HBV persistence. The recovery of high added value compound from waste stream is fundamental to keep biotechnological processes sustainable. In this study, anaerobic digestion of two highly produced organic waste was integrated with microalgae-based processes both to treat liquid digestate and recover high value compounds. Chlorella vulgaris growth was assessed for lipids accumulation and subsequent recovery, using two types of digestate organic waste and sewage sludge digestate (DIG-OFMSW) and wine lees digestate (DIG-WL). Growth tests were carried out in batch mode and results showed a slightly higher final biomass concentration from DIG-WL (1.36 ± 0.09 g l-1) compared to DIG-OFMSW (1.05 ± 0.13 g l-1) and a clearly different lipids accumulation yield (28.86 ± 0.05% in DIG-WL compared to 6.1 ± 0.2% of DIG-OFMSW, on total solids). Lipid characterization showed a high oleic acid accumulation (69.52 ± 0.50%w/w in DIG-WL) that positively influence biodiesel properties and a low linolenic acids content (below 0.30%w/w) that comply with European law EN14214 for biodiesel (linolenic acid content lower than 12%w/w). In addition, due to the high concentration of palmitic and stearic acids detected at the end of test, this oil can be used as new substrate to produce stearin, normally produced from palm oil.Prenatal learning of speech rhythm and melody is well documented. Much less is known about the earliest acquisition of segmental speech categories. We tested whether newborn infants perceive native vowels, but not nonspeech sounds, through some existing (proto-)categories, and whether they do so more robustly for some vowels than for others. Sensory event-related potentials (ERP), and mismatch responses (MMR), were obtained from 104 neonates acquiring Czech. The ERPs elicited by vowels were larger than the ERPs to nonspeech sounds, and reflected the differences between the individual vowel categories. The MMRs to changes in vowels but not in nonspeech sounds revealed left-lateralized asymmetrical processing patterns a change from a focal [a] to a nonfocal [ɛ], and the change from short [ɛ] to long [ɛ] elicited more negative MMR responses than reverse changes. link3 Contrary to predictions, we did not find evidence of a developmental advantage for vowel length contrasts (supposedly most readily available in utero) over vowel quality contrasts (supposedly less salient in utero). An explanation for these asymmetries in terms of differential degree of prior phonetic warping of speech sounds is proposed. Future studies with newborns with different language backgrounds should test whether the prenatal learning scenario proposed here is plausible.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the performance of the Sequential Organ Failure Assessment (SOFA) score and the newly introduced criteria, traumasis, defined as a SOFA score 2 or more among trauma patients.

Consecutive adult traffic collision patients who were admitted to the study hospital emergency department (ED) from January 2017 to December 2018 were enrolled retrospectively in the study. The primary outcome was in-hospital death. The SOFA score was calculated using relevant initial ED data. Traditional risk scores for trauma patients, such as the injury severity score (ISS), the revised trauma score (RTS), and the trauma injury severity score (TRISS), were also calculated.

A total of 927 patients were available for analysis, of whom 46 died (5.0%). The median SOFA score was 1.0 (interquartile range [IQR], 0.0-3.0). A total of 417 patients (45.0%) were identified as having traumasis (SOFA score≥2), of whom 44 died (10.6%). The area under the receiver operating characteristic (AUROC) curve of ol criteria among patients with trauma, similar to the sepsis criteria among patients with infectious disease.
The SOFA score can be used as a reliable tool for predicting in-hospital death among traffic collision patients. The newly introduced criteria, traumasis, may be used as a risk-stratification and quality-control criteria among patients with trauma, similar to the sepsis criteria among patients with infectious disease.
Early detection of SARS-CoV-2 patients is essential to contain the pandemic and keep the hospital secure. The rapid antigen test seems to be a quick and easy diagnostic test to identify patients infected with SARS-CoV-2. To assess the possible role of the antigen test in the Emergency Department (ED) assessment of potential SARS-CoV-2 infection in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients.

Between 1 July 2020 and 10 December 2020, all patients consecutively assessed in the ED for suspected COVID-19 symptoms or who required hospitalisation for a condition not associated with COVID-19 were subjected to a rapid antigen test and RT-PCR swab. The diagnostic accuracy of the antigen test was determined in comparison to the SARS-CoV-2 PCR test using contingency tables. The possible clinical benefit of the antigen test was globally evaluated through decision curve analysis (DCA).

A total of 3899 patients were subjected to antigen tests and PCR swabs. The sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of the antigen test were 82.
