Triple-negative breast cancers are known collectively to demonstrate a more aggressive clinical course and earlier recurrence than cancers of other histological subtypes. However, the literature on rare triple-negative breast cancers and the association of histological type with survival and risk of metastasis is sparse.

To present the clinical and demographic characteristics, treatment patterns, and overall survival (OS) for histologically rare (<10% of breast cancers) triple-negative breast cancer types medullary carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and metaplastic breast carcinoma.

This cohort study was performed in the US using data reported by the National Cancer Database between 2010 and 2016. Confirmed cases of medullary carcinoma, adenoid cystic carcinoma, and metaplastic breast cancer were analyzed. Univariable analyses and multivariable Cox regression models were performed. Data analysis was performed from April to May 2020.

The primary outcome was 5-year OS. Secondary outcomes included sNationally, over the course of 7 years, medullary carcinoma was most common and metaplastic carcinoma had the worst 5-year OS among the rare histological breast cancer subtypes analyzed. Factors associated with a poor prognosis for metaplastic carcinoma included advanced stage, lung metastasis, older age, and not receiving chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Future research focusing on rare subtypes of breast cancer is desirable and could inform the optimal management of these relatively understudied carcinomas.

This serial, cross-sectional survey study included respondents from 8 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey cycles (2003-2018) with valid dietary recalls. Data were analyzed from April 16, 2020, to July 20, 2020.

Mean diet quality of foods (meals, snacks, and beverages) consumed per person, characterized by the American Heart Association diet score (range, 0-80, with higher scores indicating healthier diets), the Healthy Eating Index 2015 (range, 0-100, with higher scores indicating healthier diets), and their components. By 2017-2018, foods consumed at schools improved significantly and provided the best mean diet quality of major US food sources, without population disparities. Additional improvements are needed from all major US food sources, with particular attention on equity.

Reported increases in attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) diagnoses are accompanied by growing debate about the underlying factors. To estimate the degree to which expanding fecal immunochemical test-based colorectal cancer screening participation during the COVID-19 pandemic is associated with clinical outcomes.

A previously developed simulation model was adopted to estimate how much COVID-19 may have contributed to colorectal cancer outcomes. The model included the US population estimated to have completed colorectal cancer screening pre-COVID-19 according the American Cancer Society. The model was designed to estimate colorectal cancer outcomes between 2020 and 2023. This analysis was completed between July and December 2020.

To provide an answer, we draw on a unique study of more than 100,000 U.S. adults that inquired about respondents' race, ancestry, and genealogical knowledge. We find that people in our sample who have taken a GAT, compared with those who have not, are more likely to self-identify as multiracial and are particularly likely to select three or more races. This difference in multiple-race reporting stems from three factors (1) people who identify as multiracial are more likely to take GATs; (2) GAT takers are more likely to report multiple regions of ancestral origin; and (3) GAT takers more frequently translate reported ancestral diversity into multiracial self-identification. Our results imply that Americans will select three or more races at higher rates in future demographic data collection, with marked increases in multiple-race reporting among middle-aged adults. We also present experimental evidence that asking questions about ancestry before racial identification moderates some of these GAT-linked reporting differences. Demographers should consider how the meaning of U.S. race data may be changing as more Americans are exposed to information from GATs.Interseeding cover crops into standing grains can promote both agronomic and environmental benefits within agroecosystems. Producers must decide which cover crops are the best fit for their goals, and whether diverse cover crop mixtures provide benefits that are worth the increased seed cost. Broadcast seeding is an accessible strategy to try interseeding but can lead to patchy establishment; it is unknown how much seed loss is due to seed predators. In a two-year study, six cover crop species-planted as either single species or mixtures-were interseeded into standing corn. We evaluated seed predation at the time of seeding, agronomic impact through cover crop, and weedy biomass at the end of the season, and conservation impact through activity-density of ground beetles (Coleoptera Carabidae). Cover crop seeds were vulnerable to seed predation, primarily by vertebrate seed predators, and seed loss varied across cover crop species. Cover crop biomass did not differ according to cover crop diversity and weedy biomass was not affected by cover crop presence or species. Cover crop diversity effects on carabid activity-density were inconsistent carabids were higher in diverse mixtures in 1 year of the study, but only predicted by vegetative cover, not by cover crop, in the second year. Interseeding cover crops into corn has potential benefits for ground beetles, although the value of mixtures must be further explored.The need for precision dosing has been challenged on the basis of insufficient evidence. Torkinib Herein, we argue that adequate evidence exists to conduct therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) and precisely target antibiotic exposures. While achievement of any antibiotic concentration does not guarantee efficacy sans toxicity for any single patient, stochastic control optimizes the probability of achieving favourable responses across patients. We argue that variability in targets (such as the organism's MIC) can be considered with models. That is, complexity alone does not relegate the decision-making framework to 'clinician intuition'. We acknowledge the exposure-response relationships are modified by patient-specific factors (other drugs, baseline organ functional status etc.) and describe how precision dosing can inform clinical decision making rather than protocolize it. Finally, we call for randomized, controlled trials; however, we suggest that these trials are not necessary to make TDM standard of care for multiple classes of antibiotics.
