Treat-to-target strategies require frequent on-site evaluations of disease activity in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), burdening patients and caregivers. However, this frequency may not be required in patients in a stable low disease activity state. The Routine Assessment of Patient Index Data 3 (RAPID3) is a reliable tool to detect such states in groups but has not been tested to reduce the frequency of on-site evaluations in individual patient care. In Reade, an outpatient rheumatology clinic, patients can complete the questionnaire online prior to consultation, and the results are directly fed into the electronic patient record. Focusing on low disease activity, we retrospectively studied the test characteristics of RAPID3 and its agreement with the DAS28 in our database of routine patient care.

Pneumatosis intestinalis (PI) is a condition of gas collection within the bowel wall that can represent either a benign clinical finding or a forerunner to potential gastrointestinal catastrophe. As a potentially sinister discovery typically first detected on radiographic imaging, clinicians need to astutely assess the need for additional urgent medical or surgical management in these patients. Apart from portal venous gas, PI outside of the bowel wall is an extremely rare entity that is poorly described. Hence, it is not necessarily clear if PI outside the bowel wall warrants more aggressive management.
. We describe a patient with intermittent abdominal pain who presented with PI of the greater omentum in addition to the right and transverse colon nearly two weeks after small bowel resection. Due to his clinical stability, we elected to closely observe him. His condition completely resolved with conservative management.
. PI in the omentum has not been described in a patient who has survived their underlying pathology. Our patient demonstrated PI radiographically in his right and transverse colon and omentum with complete resolution. We did not have to alter our clinical management because of this unique clinical presentation.

AVFs are abnormal, epithelial-lined connections between the anal canal and vestibulum, and their management is a challenge for surgeons. Complete excision of the entire fistula tract is the goal of treatment, but this can often be difficult. Moreover, recurrences are not so rare. Fistulas can occur as a result of a congenital malformation, but most often have an acquired etiology. Here, we report AVF with a normal anus in a newborn. The fistula repair was performed using a biopsy punch and layered closure without overlapping suture lines, when the patient was 4 months old.
It is of vital importance to determine the safety of drugs. Pregnant women, as a special group, need to evaluate the effects of drugs on pregnant women as well as the fetus. The use of drugs during pregnancy may be subject to fetal toxicity, thus affecting the development of the fetus or even leading to stillbirth. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a toxicity rating for drugs used during pregnancy in 1979. These toxicity ratings are denoted by the letters A, B, C, D, and X. However, the query of drug pregnancy category has yet to be well established as electronic service.

Here, we presented PregTox, a publicly accessible resource for pregnancy category information of 1114 drugs. The PregTox database also included chemical structures, important physico-chemical properties, protein targets, and relevant signaling pathways. An advantage of the database is multiple search options which allow systematic analyses. In a case study, we demonstrated that a set of chemical descriptors could effectively discriminate high-risk drugs from others (area under ROC curve reached 0.81).

However, there are no validated medications to prevent or treat cisplatin-induced AKI. Oridonin is the major bioactive component of Isodon rubescens (Rabdosia rubescens) and exhibits anticancer, antioxidative, and anti-inflammatory effects. Recent studies have shown that oridonin alleviated a variety of inflammatory diseases, including renal diseases, in rodents. This study was aimed at investigating the potential renoprotective effect of oridonin on cisplatin-induced AKI. Male C57BL/6 mice were administered with cisplatin (20 mg/kg) with or without oridonin (15 mg/kg). Oridonin administration to mice after cisplatin injection attenuated renal dysfunction and histopathological changes. Upregulation of tubular injury markers was also suppressed by oridonin. Mechanistically, oridonin suppressed lipid peroxidation and reversed the decreased ratio of reduced to oxidized glutathione in cisplatin-injected mice. The principal purpose of this meta-analysis was to assess the association between HLA-DRB1 (HLA-DR1, HLA-DR13, and HLA-DR16) polymorphisms and SLE susceptibility.

We searched published case-control studies on the association between HLA-DRB1 polymorphisms and SLE susceptibility from PubMed and Web of Science databases. The pooled ORs with 95% CIs were utilized to estimate the strength of association of HLA-DR1, HLA-DR13, and HLA-DR16 polymorphisms and SLE susceptibility by fixed effect models. We also performed sensitivity analysis, trial sequential analysis, Begg's test, and Egg's test in this meta-analysis.

A total of 18 studies were included in this meta-analysis. Overall analysis showed that HLA-DR1 and HLA-DR13 polymorphisms were associated with a decreased risk of SLE (OR = 0.76, 95% CI 0.65-0.90,
< 0.01; OR = 0.58, 95% CI 0.50-0.68,
< 0.01), and HLA-DR16 polymorphism was associated with an increased risk of SLE (OR = 1.70, 95% CI 1.24-2.33,
< 0.01). In subgroup analysis of ethnicity, the results were as follows HLA-DR1 polymorphism in Caucasians (OR = 0.76, 95% CI 0.58-0.98,
= 0.04) and North Americans (OR = 0.64, 95% CI 0.42-0.96,
= 0.03); HLA-DR13 polymorphism in Caucasians (OR = 0.62, 95% CI 0.47-0.82,
< 0.01) and East Asians (OR = 0.44, 95% CI 0.34-0.57,
< 0.01); and HLA-DR16 polymorphism in East Asians (OR = 2.62, 95% CI 1.71-4.03,
< 0.01).

This meta-analysis showed that HLA-DR1 and HLA-DR13 are protective factors for SLE, and HLA-DR16 is a risk factor. Due to the limitations of this meta-analysis, the association between HLA-DRB1 polymorphisms and SLE susceptibility needs to be further researched before definitive conclusions are proved.

The aim of this study was to compare lower dental arch changes using two types of space regainers, including a removable appliance with a distalizing screw and a fixed double-banded appliance.

In this case-control study, the study sample was comprised of thirty-eight children with mixed dentitions, all of whom had unilateral space deficiency due to premature loss of the second deciduous molar in the mandibular arch. Patients were treated with either a removable appliance with a distalizing screw or a fixed double-banded space regainer (DBSR) (
 = 19). Pre- and posttreatment dental casts and lateral cephalograms of patients were evaluated to compare the effects of the two space-regaining devices on the mandibular dental arch. The data were analyzed using paired and independent
-tests.

Available space, molar angle, IMPA, and the first molar distance to the mandibular plane and symphysis increased significantly in both groups (
< 0.001). The mean amount of IMPA changes was significantly greater in the distalizing screw group than in the DBSR group (
< 0.05). But, there were no statistically significant differences between the mean changes of available space, molar angle, and the first molar distance to the mandibular plane and symphysis in the distalizing screw and the DBSR group (
< 0.05). The DBSR group's treatment time was significantly shorter (
< 0.001).

The removable device with a distalizing screw and the DBSR were both able to regain mild-to-moderate unilateral space loss, achieving an increase in molar angle, IMPA, and molar extrusion. However, treatment time with the DBSR was shorter and with less incisor tipping as a side effect.
