The mismatch between the number of young people that require mental health care and who actually receive it, questions access to care. This study aims to gain in-depth understanding of barriers and facilitators in the pathway to mental health care among 12 to 25 year olds as experienced by visitors of youth walk-in centres of the Dutch @ease Foundation.

Open interviews were conducted to explore participants' experiences and attitudes towards mental health care. Following inductive thematic analysis, barriers and facilitators in participants' pathways towards care were described.

Fifteen participants were included, heterogenic with regard to age, sex and nationality. Three main themes in the process of seeking help were 'attitudes towards mental health problems and seeking help', 'entrance to care' and 'in care itself'. A fourth theme consisted of suggestions for improvement.

Negative attitudes towards mental health problems make young people to only seek help when problems begin to escalate. The lack of knowledge about mental health problems, treatment options and costs asks for more awareness and clear information. Updates about waiting lists and alternative options, informal settings with walk-in options and personalized care are feasible and crucial improvements to decrease the individual and societal burden.

One approach to promote students' use of research in future practice involves integrating students' research use in supervision during practice placements. Studies examining this aspect of supervision in practice placements are lacking.

To explore how practice educators perceive and emphasise research in their supervision of occupational therapy students during practice placements.

A qualitative study was conducted. A purposive sample was recruited, consisting of participants from community-based health services and hospitals in Norway. We conducted three focus groups and one individual interview with occupational therapists (
= 9). check details The qualitative data analysis was based on interpretive description.

We identified four themes 'emphasis on research in supervision of students'; 'practice educators' research competence and awareness of research'; 'institutionalisation of research use in everyday practice'; and 'communication and cooperation between education and practice regarding research'. Despite hiw research should be emphasised in supervision.Pseudorabies (Aujeszky disease) virus (PRV) was eliminated from domestic swine in many countries using glycoprotein E (gE)-deleted vaccines and serum antibody gE ELISAs, but PRV continues to circulate in some regions and in most feral swine populations in the world. We created a dual-matrix (serum and oral fluid) indirect IgG gE ELISA (iELISA) and evaluated its performance using samples from 4 groups of 10 pigs each negative control (NC), vaccination (MLV), PRV inoculation (PRV), and vaccination followed by challenge (MLV-PRV). All serum and oral fluid samples collected before PRV challenge and all NC samples throughout the study were negative for gE antibodies by commercial blocking ELISA (bELISA) and our iELISA. Nasal swab samples from 9 of 10 animals in the PRV group were gB quantitative PRC (qPCR) positive at 2 days post-inoculation (dpi). The oral fluid iELISA detected a significant S/P response in the PRV (p = 0.03) and MLV-PRV (p = 0.01) groups by 6 dpi. ROC analyses of serum bELISA (n = 428), serum iELISA (n = 426), and oral fluid iELISA (n = 247) showed no significant differences in performance (p > 0.05). Our data support the concept of PRV surveillance based on oral fluid samples tested by an indirect gE ELISA.Myelodysplastic syndrome/myeloproliferative neoplasm with ring sideroblasts and thrombocytosis (MDS/MPN-RS-T) is characterized by anemia, ring sideroblast erythroid precursors, and persistent thrombocytosis. Case reports suggest lenalidomide may be effective in treating MDS/MPN-RS-T. We evaluated a large series of patients with MDS/MPN-RS-T to compare hematological improvement (HI) response rates among different drug therapies including lenalidomide. We identified 167 patients with MDS/MPN-RS-T. Among the patients tested, 84% had SF3B1 mutations and 43% had JAK2 V617F mutations. The median OS for the cohort was 81 months. Overall, 76 patients (46%) received erythropoiesis-stimulating agents (ESAs), 47 patients (28%) received lenalidomide, and 45 patients (27%) received hypomethylating agents (HMAs). The HI rates were 58%, 53%, and 24%, respectively. The median duration of treatment was 11 months for lenalidomide compared to 6 months for HMAs. Rates of HI improvement were higher in patients with MDS/MPN-RS-T treated with ESAs or lenalidomide, in comparison to those treated with HMAs.Non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is a worldwide health problem. Alternate-day fasting (ADF), although thought to be aggressive, has proven safety and efficacy. We aimed to evaluate the effect of short-term ADF against already established high-fat-fructose (HFF)-induced NASH, independent of the amount of calorie intake, and to study the effect of ADF on lipogenesis, apoptosis, and hepatic inflammation. Male Sprague Dawley rats were divided into two groups (1) negative control and (2) NASH group fed on HFF for 9 weeks, and then randomized into two subgroups of either HFF alone or with ADF protocol for 3 weeks. The ADF could improve HFF-related elevation in serum lactate dehydrogenase and could decrease the mRNA expression of lipogenesis genes; acetyl CoA carboxylase, peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ, and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor α; apoptotic genes caspase-3, p53, and inflammatory cyclo-oxygenase 2; and immunohistochemical staining for their proteins in liver with upregulation of LC3 and downregulation of P62 immunoexpression. Moreover, ADF ameliorated HFF-induced steatosis, inflammation, ballooning, and fibrosis through hematoxylin and eosin, Oil Red O, and Sirius Red staining, confirmed by morphometric analysis, without significant weight loss. Significant correlation of morphometric parameters with levels of gene expression was found. These findings suggest ADF to be a safe effective therapeutic agent in the management of NASH.School nurses play a vital role in the lives of children and are guided by The National Association of School Nurses' Framework for 21st Century School Nursing Practice and its five major principles. School nurses practice independently and are often the sole healthcare provider at their designated schools, requiring them to be accomplished clinicians utilizing evidence-based practice in the care of children. When compared with nurses practicing in healthcare settings, school nurses may lack access to evidence-based continuing education and skill enhancement. One strategy proposed is the forming of partnerships with an academic institution, giving school nurses access to academic faculty and resources. This article highlights the collaboration and partnership between Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing and the Dallas Independent School District, demonstrating that an academic partnership for the training of school nurses improves outcomes.Infographics of modest complexity are commonly used to convey knowledge to non-experts. However, little is known regarding how the use of infographics may convince the public and lead to massive behavioral changes in response to an acute cause. In March 2020, scientists and journalists revamped a scholarly published graph into the "flatten the curve" (FTC) mantra that defined the United States' initial response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This study examined how Americans' awareness of the flatten the curve charts relates to their perceived effectiveness of social distancing measures, perceived controllability of the pandemic, and behavioral intentions toward social distancing measures. Implications on visual communication of science are discussed.
There is a lack of lesbian, bisexual and gay (LGB)-focused nursing research, in part, because the population is traditionally difficult to access. This article explores the effectiveness, benefits, and limitations of online recruitment of a distinct population of LGB-identified nurses in a study of substance use and minority stress.

A sample of nurses who self-identified as LGB were recruited for an online survey using organic Facebook outreach. A $5 Amazon gift card was offered as an incentive. Facebook insights data and demographic data were analyzed.

Within 96 hours, 394 participants had completed the 101-question online survey. The majority (
= 269, 68.6%) reported accessing the survey through Facebook. Email (
= 79, 20.2%) and word of mouth (
= 44, 11.2%) also contributed to recruitment.

The effectiveness of this Facebook recruitment protocol speaks to the importance of social media, survey incentives, and the "power of visibility" in recruitment of this population.

Their structures were determined by comprehensive and comparative spectroscopic analysis of NMR and MS data. The absolute configuration of the new compound was deduced by analysis of the experimental and calculated 13C NMR data. The protective effects against lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced apoptosis in normal rat kidney tubule epithelioid (NRK 52e) cells of the isolated compounds were investigated in vitro, whose results showed that compound 1 showed significant protective effect with the EC50 value of 3.0 μM.
Trials of interventions for delirium in various patient populations report disparate outcomes and measures but little is known about those used in palliative care trials. A core outcome set promotes consistency of outcome selection and measurement.

To inform core outcome set development by examining outcomes, their definitions, measures and time-points in published palliative care studies of delirium prevention or treatment delirium interventions.

Prospectively registered systematic review adhering to Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses.

We searched six electronic databases (1980-November 2020) for original studies, three for relevant reviews and the International Clinical Trials Registry Platform for unpublished studies and ongoing trials. We included randomised, quasi-randomised and non-randomised intervention studies of pharmacological and non-pharmacological delirium prevention and/or treatment interventions.

From 13/3244 studies (2863 adult participants), we identified 9 delirium-specific and 13 non-delirium specific outcome domains within eight Core Outcome Measures in Effectiveness Trials (COMET) taxonomy categories.
