10 Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair On Hardwood Floors Tricks All Experts Recommend
The Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair on Hardwood Floors

A good robot vacuum can make a significant difference in keeping allergens such as pet hair and dust under control. Different models are not identical.

There are a myriad of options available for you to choose from, whether you need an animal-friendly vacuum or a robot that can complement your other cleaner.

1. Eufy RoboVac Edge G30

The G30 Edge is the newest model in Eufy's budget line of robot vacuum cleaners. It's a sleek black design with blue and rose-gold accents that look like a smartphone. This model is easier to use than past models and has features such as BoostIQ that automatically increases suction power for cleaner cleaning on all surfaces. It also employs intelligent navigation to prevent repeating the same areas over and over, a common problem with bounce-navigation systems that are simpler.

It does an excellent job of picking up pet hair and crumbs off hard floors, but lags behind the top models in scooping up flour on carpet. In our tests, the G30 Edge missed 74% of the flour on hard floors and 26 percent on carpet This isn't great, but it's not a complete disaster.

One of the features that makes the G30 Edge stand out is its ability to map your home's layout using a digital map in the app. It can remember which rooms it has cleaned previously and avoid returning to those areas, a major frustration with more basic robots that require the use of magnetic tape to delineate areas that are not allowed to enter.

The G30 Edge has other conveniences that include a "Find My Robot" mode that blasts out an audible tune until it is found, and a directional pad that lets you to manually move the robot. It also has a built-in auto return function that can send it back to its charging base if the battery is empty which is a crucial security feature.

2. Neato Botvac D-Shape

The Neato Botvac D-Shape is a remarkably capable robot with a number of smart features. It is able to clean floors well, and it climbs on carpets with high piles fairly easily. The app offers advanced features, such as boundary lines and remote access to the robot while it is in operation and a variety of other options.

This model is the latest in a long-running series of Neato robots. It is unique because it has a "D' shape when viewed above. The design offers a number of advantages, including better corner cleaning and a larger dust bin than the majority of models. The D-shape also enables the robot to get under furniture better than robots with a circular design.

When first starting a cleaning process, the D-Shape will stop for a moment to use spinning infrared lasers to look over and evaluate the area. Then it will work in a grid and gradually moving from one area to the next until the entire floor is cleaned. This method of cleaning is more effective and thorough than the random approach employed by certain competitors.

The d-shape design also allows the D-Shape to have a large dust bin, at 700ml, compared to 400- 600ml for comparable robots. robotvacuummops increased capacity means that you will have to empty the bin less often, saving you time and effort. The D-Shape also has a flat front that helps it to navigate around obstacles such as chairs and tables. In our tests, the D-Shape did get stuck under a stool with four legs and an electrical cord that was not covered but it was able to free itself each time.

3. Roomba i3+ EVO

The Roomba EVO i3+ is a great option for pet owners. It is a great choice for hard floors and does a great job of cleaning up any debris like rice, cereal, and hair of pets. It has some issues on carpet but is still better than the majority of robots in this price range. The Roomba i3+ EVO also does very well at moving between floor types and doesn't get hung up on transitions the way older models do. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes can adjust to different flooring and prevent tangling in pet hair.

The i3+ EVO's obstacle avoidance isn't as effective as the other robots we evaluated, and it repeatedly ran into objects in our tests, such as handbags, shoes and pet toys prior to continuing on its path. It also had difficulty with coarse sea salt that it blew around instead of picking up.

The i3+ EVO comes with a host of features that make it well worth the price over other Roomba models. It has the ability to self-empty the bin and more advanced control through an app. You can schedule cleanings, create custom routines, and create no-go zones for areas you do not want the robot be allowed to enter. The smart scheduling system can suggest additional cleanings during peak allergy times and in accordance with your routine. Its navigational system is somewhat unreliable, however, and sometimes vacuums in erratic lines, such as diagonals or zigzags, rather than parallel to walls.

4. Shark AI Self-Empty XL

With a detailed mapping technology, this intelligent robot can see your home more than you do. It comes with dual brushes that adapt to different types of floors and are able to avoid tangling. This makes it the perfect option for homes with pets. You can control the robot using the app, or activate it hands-free with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant. The dock, called Omni, automates tasks such as filling and cleaning the robot's water tanks, emptying the debris bins, and charging and drying the mop pads.

It's a great price. The Shark AI Self-Empty XL is cheaper than a lot of other robots on our list however it comes with advanced features, such as mapping and a self-emptying bin that holds a good amount of dust. We tried it out in a home with a mix between bare flooring and carpeting with low pile and found it able to move and clean extremely well, even getting into corners. The vacuum also does a good job of picking up pet hair on carpeting but it's not equipped with the same amount of power as our top picks.

However the Roborock S4 Max is better constructed, takes less time to recharge than the Shark and comes with a wider range of automation and scheduling features, including support for no-go zones. Shark is still a good option if you're looking for something less expensive or prefer to manage and control your system with your phone instead of the remote.

5. Bissell SpinWave Dry & Wet

This robot does both vacuuming and mopping. The two tank system is powerful and can vacuum or mop at the touch of a button. It effortlessly shifted between surfaces during our tests and was successful in cleaning pet hair from carpets and hardwood floors. It also features an edge-sweeping tool to remove pet hair from walls and baseboards, plus scheduling capabilities to fit your schedule.

This robot is a great choice if you are looking for a model that's inexpensive and has a few extra features. It was able to navigate obstacles with ease during our testing and can be controlled by an app or voice. It has a large dustbin to collect messes before they're filled. It can take it up to 166 minutes to complete its work, but this is still more efficient than other robots we have evaluated.

This robot's front-facing camera allows you to check the cleanliness of your home's cleanliness through a map with an app. It's especially useful if you're trying to find something specific or the children spill glitter from your Christmas decorations all over your flooring. You can avoid lots of frustration by locating the item you lost immediately. The lithium batteries that are fade-free can last for as long as 130 minutes on one charge.

6. Roomba 694

The Roomba 694 looks upscale and offers a thorough cleaning. It is very adept at maneuvering itself and is able to reach under furniture without getting stuck. It's also a good option for rugs and low-pile carpet. However, it could be caught in rug tassels, and may have trouble getting around corners or tight spaces. It also struggles to pick up pet hair on all surfaces.

Despite the 694's lack of features, it still performs better than the majority of competitors. It was able to score the perfect score on our cereal-carpet test. It also completed our cat litter test with just a few scattered pieces of litter left behind. It is less efficient on hardwood floors. Its side brush is often scattered with large, clinging cereal bits instead of sweeping them away. It also had a tough to collect table salt from a clean floor, with a lot of grains skidding across the floor, and out of its reach.

It can be controlled via the iRobot HOME app as well as voice commands using Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant (via an external device, which is sold separately). It is able to learn about your habits of cleaning and creates customized schedules. Cliff Detect and a edge-sweeping tool will ensure that it can get into difficult-to-reach areas, while Dirt Detect sensors alert the robot to heavily soiled spots. The battery lasts for about 60 minutes and comes with a self-emptying trash bin. The pricier iRobot J7 comes with an advanced suite of features and is more stable on all surfaces. It is also more durable, has a larger dustbin, is faster to charge and can handle obstacles like electrical cords more efficiently.
