This manufacturing line can manufacturing as many as 50,000 cell-to-pack EV battery packs annually, with the quality equivalent to those produced for global markets. Battery packs manufactured at the production facility will be initially deployed on MG4 ELECTRIC as well as other models in the future. Currently, the plant is undergoing production preparation process with plans for official operations to commence next year.

Mr. Zhao Feng, CEO at SAIC Motor-CP, said, "This battery production plant represents a key element in the development plan for the New Energy Industrial Estate located within WHA ESIE 2 industrial zone in Thailand's Chonburi designated for the domestic production of EVs. Along with the additional investment budget of 500 million baht, the factory is designed for the manufacture of cell-to-pack (CTP) EV batteries utilizing the new cube battery design. With the robust growth as well as growing opportunity within Thailand's electric vehicle segment, SAIC MOTOR CORPORATION and HASCO-CP recognize the prospects to become the production hub for EVs catering to local and export markets, particularly across Southeast Asian nations."
