Rolls-Royce Cullinan Keys to a New Generation of Luxury SUVs
Rolls-Royce has long made luxurious cars for those who want to drive into the sunset and explore the world in total comfort. read full article is the first SUV from the company, and the goal is to entice those who are wealthy away from their Range Rovers and Bentaygas.
Its new architecture, technologies, and design deliver an iconic look, unbeatable space and usability, and unbeatable off-road and on-road capabilities.
All Over Effortless
The Rolls-Royce Cullinan is designed for people who consider travel to be an art form, a way of life. It should be as easy to drive on and off the road as it is on a road road. The new SUV from the brand, called "the first all-terrain Rolls-Royce," brings this possibility to life. Its unique features reflect a legacy of perfection and mastery.
Cullinan does not care about bumps and imperfections. Its soft suspension makes it feel as if the road is a soft rug.
During our test drive of the Cullinan, we took off-road, both on gravel and mud, and on roads that are paved, but with potholes and other imperfections. The car's all-wheel drive and huge wheels allowed it to tackle difficult terrain with confidence. It also has an low-riding suspension that lifts the body higher than the ground to allow it to crawl over the rocks and other obstacles without damaging the bottom.
In addition to its all-terrain ability, the Cullinan has plenty of advanced technology to make the owner's journeys as smooth as they can be. The SUV has forward-collision alerts with automatic emergency brakes, night-vision the vision assist, a camera system that helps you park or drive in tight spots with adaptive cruise control, as well as warnings for lane departure. It also comes with a WiFi hotspot, navigation and a world-class head-up display.
The Cullinan also boasts the kind of solid build quality that a high-end buyer would expect. Every knob, switch and touchpoint feels as though it could last 1,000 years at which point it may just need a little sweat to keep it working. The cabin is decorated in wood, chrome and leather with the Spirit of Ecstasy looking down on the driver and passengers from its perch high above the dash.
The Cullinan has a cabin that is loaded with modern technology, but it lacks a few gadgets that younger drivers may desire. It isn't equipped with aids for drivers, like semi-autonomous highways and lane-keeping, or the connected gadgets that are becoming more common in cars.
The Clasp
Cullinan offers unrivaled off-road capabilities at the touch of an button, and is dubbed Everywhere' by Rolls Royce engineers. This lets the driver finesse the SUV's self-leveling air suspension to absorb every bump and rut while the drive and prop shafts ensure that all 850Nm of torque is sent to the front and rear wheels at precisely the right moment.
Cullinan, the first Rolls-Royce that has a tailgate and rear doors that open in a similar fashion to pickup trucks, is the first Rolls-Royce that has tailgate. The design creates an SUV with a three-box appearance. It also offers access to a cargo area that offers 21 cubic feet of space. This is with the rear seats up, with the floor positioned lower than the top of the seatbacks to keep things from slipping around.
The main cabin of the Rolls-Royce Cullinan offers an approach that is more practical to luxury than anything previously seen in the production Rolls-Royce car. For example, the rear passengers sit higher than those in the front, which means they can enjoy an unobstructed view of the world from their vehicle. The bench in the rear can be set up in many ways to meet your requirements.
To enhance the functional layout, the rear-view mirrors have been reshaped and toned down in appearance, and the Rolls-Royce badge is placed on a smaller pedestal independent of the number plate housing, with only a tiny strip of jewellery to add some flair. The rear lights are an identical utilitarian design and are comprised of two tall upright units which house the lights as well as one strip of jewellery in their centre.
Cullinan, beyond the obvious benefits of a more practical layout, is also the most family-friendly Rolls-Royce ever. Its rear bench can be arranged to seat three people and the standard panoramic roof design means that there's plenty of room to stretch out. The Immersive Seating configuration lets drivers enjoy their surroundings in comfort, wrapped in the finest leather. A whisky decanter and Champagne cooler can be put in the central console to increase the luxury.
The Rear Passenger Compartment
The Cullinan, a Rolls-Royce like none before, is identical and distinct. It's large and lavish and opens the brand up to a new generation of potential customers who'll happily take it to places that other luxury SUVs would avoid. This could include Jackson Hole, Wyoming where the SUV is constructed.
The vertical lines that run across the front doors and down the raised bonnet edge and down into the metal skid plates, convey a strong and purposeful sense of. This SUV is ready to conquer the entire world. The big wheels and the slim silhouette of the roofline create an impressive stance that conveys a strong character.
Rolls-Royce engineers have created an exclusive design that blends luxurious interiors with unbeatable off-road capabilities and uncompromising comfort. In the process they have created a vehicle that is both practical and truly iconic.
People who sit in the rear can enjoy spectacular views of their surroundings through the huge glass surface of the world's most renowned panoramic glass roof. If they want to find their current location on the globe they can just zero in on themselves using the rear touchscreen map.
A major feature is that both rear seat backs can fold down, which allows for a generous cargo space. With a simple push of an button, they can be easily lower without damaging the seat cushion. They can also be divided into a 2/3 or 1/3 configuration, enhancing the practicality of the vehicle.
The design of the Rolls-Royce coach doors allows the passengers to step inside and out in comfort, while keeping their legs shielded from dirt. This allows the passengers of the Rolls-Royce car to enter and exit comfortably, with their legs protected from dirt, because of the design that wraps both the front and rear coach doors low beneath the sill.
After entering, the passengers will be able to toast their success by drinking a whisky out of the bottle holder that is hidden behind the seats in front. And when they're ready for an afternoon nap, they can settle down in the heated and massaged rear seats, and relax by using the optional neck-, shoulder- and leg-rests.
The Glass Partition
The Cullinan which has a starting price of $325,000, is unique to any other vehicle that has ever left the Goodwood factory of Rolls-Royce in its 114-year-old history. It's not just that it comes with all-wheel drive, a button that reads "Off Road," or usable ride height (Rolls-Royce has an extensive history of overland travel dating back to T.E. Lawrence's 1914 armored car). No, it's because this SUV was built to be a family vehicle that's intended to be driven by the owners, not in the hands of a chauffeur.
It's also the first SUV to have a rear passenger compartment large enough to hold three passengers comfortably, while still leaving room for luggage. It also has a variety of immersive seating options, including massage chairs in the rear and the center console is equipped with a whisky decanter as well as glasses, or champagne coolers and two Rolls-Royce champagne flutes.
However, it's the Spirit of Ecstasy that really puts this Rolls-Royce in a different league in comparison to the Range Rovers and Bentaygas that have been vying for ultra-wealthy buyers' attention lately. This hood ornament is an ongoing reminder that the Cullinan is not your average SUV.
I'm also impressed with the level of restraint Rolls-Royce has demonstrated in its cabin. While some manufacturers are saturating their cabins with technology, Cullinan's center stack has an easy and clean display that resembles traditional gauges.
Box-grain leather is one of the most significant changes made to the previous Rolls-Royce models. This kind of leather is made by pressing a metal frame into the hide, followed by lacquering. The result is a dark black finish that is more durable than the smooth leather used in other luxurious automobiles.
The Cullinan is a stunning vehicle that combines all the characteristics that make SUVs so coveted. However, it has some flaws. It's absurd to pay that much money on an SUV, even if it is as well-equipped as this one. If you want to purchase a Cullinan you'll have to sell your artwork or skip the summer in Nice.
