Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair
If your household includes cats or dogs You might want to consider getting a robot vacuum designed specifically for hair of pets. These models typically have powerful suction power which can pick up hair strands, and food crumbs, kitty litter and even spills.
They also have larger dustbins, which reduce the frequency of emptying. Some are equipped with a mopping pad.
1. Eufy RoboVac ElevenS
The Eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum is a fantastic choice for those who are looking to save money. It has some excellent features that help remove pet hair. It's quiet and has a decent-sized dirt compartment and battery, and can clean itself automatically for two minutes or longer in spot cleaning mode. It also comes with BoostIQ that automatically switches between Standard Power and Maximum Suction' to provide the best performance on every flooring type.
It doesn't map rooms like Roomba however, it does have a resonant obstacle avoidance technology as well as drop-sensors to prevent it from crashing into objects (like the cats or dogs) or falling down stairs. It also has the ability to suspend and resume cleaning as it collects debris and moves it to the charging base. It also has a self-emptying function and a small dustbin which means you don't have to touch or see what it is sucking.
The 11S was a great performer when we tested it on untreated floors as well as a medium-sized carpet and cat hair. It did not perform as well on high pile carpets and had a difficult time when dealing with heavier debris such as kitty-litter and cereal. However, it still did better than most of its rivals. It also was able to climb over low lying obstructions such as cords with ease. It also kept pet hair out of the way on the wheels and brushes.
One thing we did notice is that it didn't do as great at handling dog hair as the other models we tried, but the amount of pet hair was much less than what we saw in other tests. The 11S has some limitations like not being able to schedule, and having a small range of voice commands. However they're not major concerns.
While the 11S is a good choice however, we would suggest looking into other robot vacuums that provide more advanced functionality. For example the iRobot Roomba 960 is better-built and easier to maintain. It has a larger dirt compartment and a quicker recharge time, and has smart pathing and better performance on all surfaces than the eufy. The iRobot also removes more pet hair and comes with a much more extensive list of features to help with your home automation requirements.
2. Deebot T10 Omni
The Deebot T10 Omni offers a premium hands-free cleaning experience for floors. It's among the most powerful robotic vacuums available and has great capabilities for picking up pet hair and litter. It also works with smart home assistants such as Alexa and Google Assistant, making it easy to adjust your cleaning schedule and utilize voice commands.
Its obstacle avoidance could be improved. The T10 Omni is prone to bumping into furniture and loose baseboards for cabinets, and getting stuck in tight corners. It also hits furniture to find its way out of rooms, which can damage surfaces and furniture. The T10 is somewhat haphazard when it comes down to the path as well. It isn't able to see things like socks and cords which is why it runs into them.
Fortunately, the latest T10+ has upgraded its navigation system and dropped the camera that was found on earlier models. Ecovacs instead chose to utilize lasers and a structured light source to help it navigate. This is a wise choice, as it helps the T10 avoid obstacles and furniture more effectively.
Additionally to that, the T10+ has a self-emptying dust container and docks that automatically clean and dry mopping pads to avoid the buildup of bacteria. It also has suction capacity of 8,000Pa and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant for voice control. It's also the priciest robot vacuum in our line-up, but it is an excellent choice for large homes with a lot of carpeted areas.
While all robot vacuums for pets have a certain level of intelligent functionality, certain are more feature-packed than others. For instance, some offer the capability to create a customized cleaning schedule and pick which rooms to be cleaned. Certain dust bins are bigger and reduce the frequency of emptying them. Some have tangle free brush rolls that reduce the amount of long hair that is sucked up into the trash bin. Certain vacuums have a lower sound level, which can be helpful for those who have sensitive ears. Many robotic vacuums work with smart assistants that allow voice control, and can be connected to smartphone apps to monitor the progress of cleaning.
3. iRobot Roomba 960
The Roomba 960 robot vacuum is among the most effective vacuums for pet hair. It did well in most of our tests, although it had some issues with carpets and had issues with some obstacles, like rug tassels. It is also slightly more expensive than some of its rivals. However, it does have more features and a better navigation than other models we tested.
It comes with a large dustbin, and it has a virtual wall to prevent it from going into areas you don't need to. It's compatible with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant that let you control the robot via voice commands. The iRobot application lets you view a map of all the areas it has cleaned. Additionally, you can set your cleaning preferences.
The 960 was a great performer on floors that were not paved. It was able to take up an amazing amount of surface litter including cereal, and even did a decent job cleaning up the embedded debris. It is a great choice for low-pile flooring, but it loses steam when the dirt compartment is full. It's made of a few components you'll have to replace regularly.
It performed well in our Home Coverage test, which is responsible for 20 percent of a robot's total score. It covered the entirety of the furnished room, which is much better than other robots that we have examined. The 960 did a great job on the stairs, too which is a tough task for most robots. It didn't perform as well as the Neato Botvac D80 or the 980 on carpets but it was able to do a decent job.
It's a bit more expensive than the D80 but it does come with an impressive set of smart features and a bigger dustbin. If you're willing to make sacrifices in navigation and obstacle detection, but you want a superior dust collection and a clean environment, then the 960 is a good option for you. It is also less expensive than the 980. This means it will have lower ongoing costs.
4. iRobot Roomba 990
The Roomba 980 is iRobot's most powerful robot vacuum and their top model for dealing with pet hair. It's more expensive than other models however it comes with a combination that makes it the most efficient vacuum on the market. It has the tread to traverse uneven floors, and the suction that picks the cat litter that is scattered throughout your home. It also has connectivity to allow you to control it remotely or schedule cleanings.
It's also the smartest robovac that we've ever tested. It makes use of iRobot's most advanced software to create a map of your home and plan the best course of action for cleaning. It utilizes a camera as well as an on-board sensor to do this. It also employs a special algorithm known as VSLAM (Visual Simultaneous Mapping and Localization).
The Roomba 980, despite being capable of moving around your home with ease, is not a perfect machine. Its quick cleanings have left behind a tiny amount of sawdust and pet hair on vinyl. It can be manually redirected with the help a virtual barrier to stay out of these areas.
The iRobot App lets you place them near your pet's water bowls and food bowls, as well as anywhere you want to keep away. If best robot vacuum for pet hair and mop looking for a little more assistance in preventing your pet's hair from ending up on the floor the 980 has a unique Power Boost mode that amplifies suction when necessary.
As far as user experience goes the 980 is enjoyable to use. Its large central CLEAN button is easy to find and it presses down with satisfying clicks to begin the robot's cleaning process. Three buttons are on the exterior of the robot which include a power switch, the scheduler, and reset. The iRobot App lets you control your robot by voice commands or with a smartphone.
