Physical Development
Physical development plays a crucial role in children’s all-round development. At TLA, we provide both indoor and outdoor spaces where children can actively engage in play and receive adult support to enhance their physical abilities. Our holistic approach to physical development ensures that children build a strong foundation for healthy bodies, social interactions, and emotional well-being.
Here are some aspects of our approach.
1. Core strength and stability.
Through activities like balancing, crawling, and climbing, children develop their core strength and stability. These foundational skills contribute to overall physical health and well-being.
2. Balance and Spatial Awareness
Our play areas encourage children to explore balance spatial relationships.
Activities like walking on balance beams or navigating obstacles course enhance their spatial awareness.
3. Coordination and Agility
Children participate in actives that require coordination, such as catching and throwing balls dancing.
Agility is fostered through games that involve quick movements and changes in direction.
4. Fine Motor skills
We engage children in puzzles, play dough activities, small world play. This experiences help to refine fine motor skills including hand-eye coordination and precise movement. Fine motor controls such as holding a pencil or turning pages, is linked to early literacy. As children develop these skills, they become better prepared for writing and other literacy activities.
5. Gross motor skills
Gross motor skills are essential for activities like running, jumping, and climbing. We carry out Weekly sessions of physical education (PE), yoga and play dough disco.

Literacy
At TLA, we provide daily opportunities for children to assess books. Our staff read to children and give them opportunity to talk about stories, which helps expand their vocabulary and comprehensions skills. Additionally, this practice promotes critical thinking, communication, and love for reading.
We engage in singing nursery rhymes. Not only does support communication, but it also helps children to develop phonological awareness and rhythm.
Our language-rich Environment is filled with words, labels, and print to help children absorb language from their surroundings. This approach supports children’s vocabulary development and promote comprehension.


Mathematics
Our activities support children in building the necessary foundation they need to excel in mathematics. We incorporate counting, numbers, shapes, and sizes into daily activities to help children build confidence in mathematics.
Understanding of the world.
Understanding the world involves guiding children to make sense of their physical world and their community (EYFS 2024). At TLA, we engage in a variety of activities to foster children’s understanding of the world. We read a wide range of books, encouraging discussions about families, nature, and the environment. Our visits to local parks, libraries, and farms provide firsthand experiences that connect learning to the real world. Additionally, we invite community helpers such as police officers, firefighters, and dentists to interact with the children. These interactions not only broaden their understanding but also inspire curiosity and respect for the professionals who serve our community.
Expressive Arts and Design
At TLA, we believe in nurturing children’s self-expression through various art forms, including painting, drawing, music, and movement. Our little artists explore and play with a diverse range of media and materials, fostering their understanding, vocabulary, and ability to communicate through the arts. By encouraging creativity, we empower children to express themselves and appreciate the beauty of imagination.
