In the presented work to the synthesis of polyurethanes was used tri-functional polyether polyol based on the oxypropylated glycerol. Mentioned polyol has trade name Rokopol G1000 and is produced by PCC Rokita in Poland. This polyol can be used as a component for the synthesis of polyurethane elastomers, single spray foam, coatings, adhesives, impregnates and varnishes. The presence of three primary hydroxyl groups permits to obtain chemical cross-linked polyurethanes. The polyester polyols imparted good mechanical properties to the PUs but poor resistance to hydrolytic degradation . In order to balance the hydrolytic degradation and the mechanical properties of the PUs, different blends of polyols of the same nature with different molecular weights or polyols of different nature have been used.

There are several reports available in the literature showing the techno-economic viability of bio-based polyols and hence polyurethanes. This article summarizes the synthesis of renewable polyols and polyurethanes thereof through utilization of various renewable sources such as vegetable oils, lingo-cellulosic biomass and other feedstock. The polyols obtained from different starting materials lead to variation in hydroxyl number and ultimately have a profound impact on the properties of polyurethanes. Hydroxyl groups are further classified based on their presence in polyols.

This polyol is an excellent choice when using either HCFC-141b or water as a blowing agent. The foaming reaction of systems based on this product is affected less by high humidity conditions than many other polyols. This yields uniform foam properties and improved adhesion to substrates. This product is ideal for high density foams such as furniture and decoration; and low density foams such as insulated panels, rail boxcars, portable coolers, pour-in-place insulation.

The peaks at 2θ values of 21° and 22° can be ascribed to ester–ester interactions, and both are less intense than in PE. The peaks at 2θ values of 20° and 23° correspond to carbonate–carbonate interactions and they are much less intense than in CD. The peak at a 2θ value of 24° does not exist in the parent polyols; this could be an indication of the existence of ester–carbonate interactions.
