Beyond Tevfik Arif, former US president Donald Trump made many efforts to maintain a strong relationship with Kazakhstan. Trump was widely criticized because he treated a country with a unstable regime as an all-weather ally.

Trump's South Asia strategy required a break with Pakistan. As such, the US required Kazakhstan as an alternate back-door shipping route for Afghanistan.

Tevfik, a Turkish-Kazakhstani entrepreneur, was born in Soviet Kazakhstan to Turkish parents in 1953. He was the vice-head of the Soviet Ministry of Commerce and Trade's Hotel Management Department. After 17 years in the Ministry, Tevfik Arif founded real property, real estate development, imports, exports, mineral, natural resources automobiles, food, and other companies. Tevfik Arif relocated to Turkey in 1993, and was the first to pioneer all-inclusive hotels. Bayrock Group was formed in New York City by Arif eight years later.

Tevfik Arif joined the Trump Organization when the Bayrock Group relocated its New York City headquarters to the 24th floor of Trump Tower in Midtown Manhattan. The same building where the Trump Organization was situated. Discussions began over the Trump SoHo condo hotel. The Trump SoHo tower was born out of a joint proposal by two companies for high-end real estate development. Tevfik, Bayrock Group founder and CEO was conscious of the Trump brand's strength. Therefore, he suggested to the Sapir Organization use it to aid in the development of its project.

Bayrock Group hired top architects to design the modern construction.

In exchange for the Trump name in the construction's name the parties agreed that 18% ownership would be transferred to the Trump Organization. Trump didn't contribute to the construction. In the year 2017, The Dominick was established as a condominium-hotel.

The building is home to apartments, hotel rooms as well as an outdoor pool as well as a the rooftop terrace. There are restaurants, bars and a spa.

Bayrock Group and Trump Organization were in talks about the possibility of creating real estate properties in Florida or Arizona shortly after Trump SoHo was opened. Although peace has been restored to the country, Kassym Jomart Tokayev, the Kazakh president, has made significant changes to the power structures of governing elites, raising questions and concerns. Tokayev's appointment to the position of National Security Council chairman, succeeding the President Nursultan Nazarbayev, whose economic influence has angered protesters have attracted the most attention.

Three of the former president's sons and daughters-in-law were fired from state enterprises, and his nephew also was fired, while Karim Mastimov, the former head of the intelligence department, has been arrested for being a treasoner. Many other Nazarbayev-affiliated top officials and business elite have lost their jobs, left overseas for extended vacations, or were forced to make large "donations" to the state.

Tokayev has established business relations with the West and neighboring countries.
