In our era, the proportion of people who live in the world is getting higher. Due to this issue there are a number of implicants of this problem. There are three diagrams that describe how ageing changes in years. This essay will show the trend over the last 100 years and how it is expected to change by the end of this century.
As we can see, the diagrams indicate the proportion of people who are in working age, elderly and children among the century. The pie charts show that the number of people who live in the world will be reached nearly 9 billion. This means that it will be increased four times. If we look the percentages, there is an ongoing increasement in the people who are in working age. On the other hand, the percentage of children is getting lower among the years. Additionally, it is expected to have more elderly people than before. The percentage of elderly people will be increased nearly 11%. Upon the analysis, there is likely to have a 57% people who are in working age instead of 51%. Additionally, there is also 17% mitigation at the proportion of children.
Furthermore, this big amount of working population will result in youth employment on the world. It has got huge impact on economy. The rate of unemployment will be increased. Moreover, this will lead to emigration for people who can’t find job opportunity. Indeed, due to this issue GDP will also be decreased. Governments should take precautions to increase the level of fertility. Since there is a problem like ageing, the most sensible solution is to raise the fertility level.
This ageing problem also has an effect on economy such as high pension and healthcare costs. Due to this issue the money which is allocated for old people will be increased. Governments have to pay a pension costs for old people. If the money which is paid by the governments gets higher, economy will receive a nasty blow from ageing people. The retirement age should be higher to diminish the amount of money which is allocated for the old people.
Another probable impact may be housing shortage. The demand for housing is getting higher and higher. It is predicted that there won’t be available spaces to build home at the end of this century. This demand can cause struggles to find a suitable place to open settlement there. Family planning and city planning have vital impact on this problem. If the governments can put these in a way, they can cope with this problem.
To sum up, the world has to put up with the impacts of this trend on population. Due to this trend there will definitely be issues such as youth unemployment, economic problems and housing shortage. The only way is to take precautions to diminish the damage will be taken.
