Slot missions are a great way to earn gear weapons, equipment and other items. They're not easy to complete.

Concealed Weapon Slot

Smuggled Item Slot

The smuggled item slot is an excellent feature that allows players to bring weapons and tools into the game, but could be improved. It's currently shaped as a pistol, which makes it difficult to distinguish the weapon slot that is smuggled from other slots for gear.

The smuggle slots can be used to store a wide assortment of items, from concussion devices and explosives for weapons to more subtle concussions. These items can be found in hidden locations around the map. They can also be retrieved at anytime. Smuggled items differ from Agency Pickups or Hidden Stashes which hide only small objects in scenery and objects.

Mission planning is a feature that is available in short-term missions that allow players to discover different starting locations, smuggled items and gear slots ahead of their entry into the map. As players advance through challenges and unlock new Mission Mastery levels, these options for planning increase. This lets players prepare the best task for each challenge.

Gear Slot

In the beginning of the game, players will find their gear slots rapidly get full, resulting in the common "Your Gear Slots are Full" message which prevents Max from picking new equipment until the old items are removed or space is obtained. The solution to this issue is the Hogwarts Legacy Merlin Trials which offer more inventory space in exchange for completing challenging missions. Because many of these challenges are not completed and are scattered across the world, it may take a while to reach the most inventory slots in the game.

Each player has up to five different types of gear in their five Gear Slots. These must be selected from the Gear Selection menu prior to breaking in. Each gear item (except for the Pistol) is a part of one Gear Slot, while a grouping of similar items (such as Grenades in a grouping) can only use one Gear Slot.

Pickups by agencies

As you advance through the Mission Mastery levels you unlock various agency pickups that are on the map. These locations allow you to store items that do not fit into your weapon or gear slots, and retrieve them later.


These pickups are particularly useful when you have to pass through a frisk in the course of the mission or if you're carrying a weapon that would otherwise be suspect. You can only hide one item per game at a pickup location for agencies.
