Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary

Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed a unique keycase to commemorate the brand's centennial. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a fluttering 'B' paperweight, a set keys and a brochure that features never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.

This is the perfect way to welcome a new car owner.

Aesthetics

As a company that is primarily focused on design, Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. It is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting and the use of leather made from cattle by-products as well as the sustainable management of forests, and the ingenuous patterns of its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you drive by with its striking sculptural appeal and power through carefully curated lighting.

The Continental GT is the most sophisticated open-top Bentley ever made. Its rear tonneau for instance, displayed the largest piece of dark-stained, book-matched Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to the production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.

Bentley is the most sought-after automotive brand in the world due to its distinctive design and workmanship. The company continues pushing boundaries with the latest technology and hand-crafted products. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear window sunroof and a handcrafted Apple iPad docking station.

A century since its founding, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership following years of wrangling with BMW and BMW - celebrated its centennial in the year 2019. The marque planned a number special events and launches to mark the occasion prior to when the planning of a pandemic became a priority.

Design

Bentley is famous for its extravagant and lavish automobiles and keys, but even keys are designed to stand out. The Bentayga Key is made of sterling silver, and has an enormous B' logo to signal to everyone that you drive a Bentley. The key is also inscribed with the dates 1919 and 2019, to mark the company’s centenary.

Bentley Mulliner has redesigned and created the Mulsanne to be the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. It features two opposing sets of rear seats that were inspired by the luxury of private aviation that provide passengers with unbeatable comfort and privacy. The customized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system was developed to give each passenger the ideal climate control settings.

The Mulsanne is equipped with a twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that puts out 560bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. This incredibly powerful power is paired by a brand new suspension system that offers Bentley's signature smooth ride.

Bentley has announced a special specification for cars manufactured after the year 2019 in order to celebrate its centennial. It is known as the Centenary Specification. This includes cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold thread throughout the cabin. The Bentley Wings on the headrests and seats are embroidered with Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a bespoke Bentley keycase, completing the Bentley experience.

Function

The Bentley Mulsanne key has an open button on the trunk and another that turns on the car. It also has a button to switch on the parking break. There is a knob to fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spots. This feature helps you get into and out of your vehicle.

The key is made from vegetable tanned leather. It takes more than two days to make each one. The key is cut by hand, then shaped, stitched to seal, and polished to produce a premium result. It is lightweight and durable, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar with the Volkswagen Phaeton's huge car key, but it feels more substantial and premium.

Secure-A-Key is also included to protect against keyless entry theft. This device is inserted into the remote-control fob, and it shuts it down when the key has not been used for a short period of time. It blocks thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices which will allow the key to be opened and start the car.

Bentley's distinctive design reflects company's values of fine craftsmanship and engineering expertise as well as modern technology. More than 4,000 employees work at its Crewe headquarters, which is responsible for the development, design, and production of Bentley cars. These workers apply skills that have been passed through generations to modern automotive technology. This is the characteristic of British manufacturing at its best.

keys bentley 's Mulliner division allows customers to design their car. The customers sit at a set of images referred to as "mood stations" and pick a collection of images ranging from scenic views to sporting events that will inspire them. Every time a choice is made, the pattern that emerges is the model, color and style preferences for the custom Bentley.

The configuration that is created is stored on individual R.F.I.D.-enabled keys that are then presented to the guests in a hand-crafted key case. Keys can be adorned with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the opening door with the owner's logo or name as they approach the car.

Bentley estimates it takes approximately 500 man-hours in order to create and assemble the average Mulsanne. The key to this time-consuming effort is a reluctance to embrace the latest technology. The Crewe factory workers do not make use of a machine to create perfectly-matched leather seats. Instead they do it by hand. Drivers must park their vehicles manually, rather than using sensors built-in to direct them to parallel and perpendicular spots.

Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization abilities with a unique Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays tribute to William Osler, the founder of Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays tribute to the founding father of the brand, William Osler Bentley. The limited edition cars include a key that displays a piece of the 1930 8 Litre crankshaft.
