Bentley Mulsanne Key Celebrates Its Centenary
Bentley's custom coachbuilding division, Mulliner, has designed an exclusive key case to celebrate the brand's centenary. Made of Dark Stained Walnut and Piano Black veneer, it includes a flying "B" paperweight, a set of keys as well as a brochure with never-before-seen 1930 8 Litre images.
This is the ideal way to welcome a new owner of a vehicle.
Aesthetics
As a design-driven company, Bentley takes its aesthetics seriously. This is evident in the precise positioning of its quilting as well as the use of leather that is made from leftovers from cattle as well as the sustainable management of forests, and the innovative patterns of its levers. A car like the Continental GT W12 beckons as you take it in with its striking sculptural appeal and power through carefully curated lighting.
The Continental GT is Bentley's most sophisticated open-top car. The rear tonneau, for instance, displayed the largest piece of book-matched, dark-stained Burr Walnut veneer ever applied to an actual production Bentley. Similarly, the electrically-operated glass sunroof and champagne cooler that incorporated hand-blown and hand-cut lead crystal bottles marked a new benchmark in luxury and innovation.
Bentley is the most sought-after car brand globally due to its bespoke design and craftsmanship. The company continues pushing boundaries with the latest technologies and craftsmanship. This includes the introduction of an electronic tilt-opening rear window sunroof, as well as a custom-designed Apple iPad docking station.
A century after its creation, Bentley - now under sole Volkswagen ownership after years of fighting with BMW was able to celebrate its centennial in the year 2019. Prior to the pandemic plan taking the center stage, the company held a series of special events and launches planned to mark this historic occasion.
Design
Bentley is famous for its luxurious and ostentatious automobiles and even keys are designed to stand out. The Bentayga key is crafted from sterling silver and has a large 'B' logo that lets everyone know you drive a Bentley. It's also engraved with the years 1919 and 2019 to celebrate the company's centenary.
Bentley Mulliner redesigned and developed the Mulsanne to become the ultimate Grand Touring vehicle. The rear seats were designed to provide passengers with unmatched comfort and privacy. They were inspired by the luxurious private aircraft. The bespoke heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system was designed to give each passenger the ideal temperature control.
The Mulsanne has twin turbocharged 6.75 litre W12 engine that produces 560bhp and 479lb-ft of torque. This incredible power is complemented by a new suspension system that offers Bentley's signature smooth ride.
Bentley has announced a special specification for cars built after the year 2019 to commemorate its centennial. It is known as the Centenary Specification. The cabin features cross-stitching and contrast stitching in Centenary Gold throughout. The Key Lab on the headrests and seats are embroidered with Centenary Gold, adding to the sense of celebration. The Centenary Specification also includes a custom Bentley keycase to complete the Bentley experience.
Function
The Bentley Mulsanne Key has two buttons one of which opens the trunk, and another which starts the vehicle. It also has a switch that can switch on the parking break. There is a knob that can fold and unfold the mirrors while parking in tight spots. Utilizing this feature can assist you in getting into and out of the car more quickly.
Each key takes about two days to create. It is cut by hand, shaped, sewn, sealed, and polished to produce an extremely high-end finish. It is lightweight and durable, and it fits the Bentley key perfectly. Its design is similar to that of the Volkswagen Phaeton large car's key however, it feels heavier and has a more premium feel.
Secure-A-Key is also included to help prevent keyless entry theft. This device is put inside the remote-control key fob. It will shut it off after a few minutes of inactivity. This prevents thieves from transmitting the key's frequency to other devices that can unlock and start the vehicle.
Bentley's distinctive design is a reflection of the company's values which include exquisite craftsmanship and engineering expertise as well as modern technology. Over 4,000 people work at the Crewe headquarters, responsible for the design, development and production of Bentley cars. These workers use skills handed down for generations and apply them to cutting-edge automotive technology. This is British manufacturing at its finest.
Personalisation
Bentley's Mulliner division allows customers to design their car. The "mood station" allows guests to select images that inspire them. They can choose anything from picturesque vistas to sporting events. Each time a selection is made, the pattern that emerges will reveal the model of the Bentley, as well as the color and style preferences for the customized Bentley.
The configuration that is created is then loaded onto individual R.F.I.D.-enabled key cards, which are presented to guests in a custom-made key case. The keys can be equipped with Bentley Muliner Personalised welcome lamps that illuminate the pathway of the door's opening. They are adorned with the owner's name or logo as they approach the car.
Bentley estimates it takes approximately 500 man-hours in order to create and assemble the average Mulsanne. One of the main reasons for that lengthy effort is a deliberate decision to embrace the latest technology. The Crewe factory workers don't employ a machine to place perfectly-matched cross stitched leather seats. Instead, they do it by hand. Instead of using the car's built-in sensors guide it to perpendicular and parallel parking spots, drivers have to perform the task by hand.
Bentley displayed its Mulliner personalization capabilities in the release of a special Mulsanne W.O. Edition, which pays tribute to founder William Osler Bentley. The Mulsanne W.O. Edition pays homage to the man who founded the company, William Osler Bentley. The 100 limited-edition cars include the key with a special design that shows a portion of the 1930 8 Liter's crankshaft.
