10 Facts About Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet That Will Instantly Get You Into A Great Mood
The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet

There's a robot to suit every carpet type, whether it's high-pile or low-pile. These smart appliances automatically navigate through your home, pick up dirt and clean under furniture.

They come with advanced features like mapping that help them navigate through your home and keep track of where furniture is located. They can also increase suction power to clear dirtier areas.

iRobot Roomba 694"

The Roomba by iRobot is a budget-friendly robot vacuum that performs well on both plain flooring and carpets with low pile. It has good suction and cleans up most debris, though it isn't able to handle bigger debris like sand or rice. It also does a good job of cleaning pet hair, but it's not immune to tangling like premium Roomba models, such as the j7 or I6.

The Roomba 694 is easy to use. It has three buttons on its top cover: 'Clean' launches the cleaning process, 'Dock' puts it back into its charging station, and 'Spot Clean' initiates a targeted clean. You can control it via an app for smartphones that lets you schedule cycles, stop/start them and adjust settings. You can also pair it with smart home devices such as Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.

This vacuum is a bit slower than the others, however it's still able reach most corners and crevices. It has a big bin, which makes it easier to empty. It's compatible with virtual barriers and digital mapping which let you make it impossible to clean certain areas or stop cleaning altogether in order to prevent it from getting stuck on something.

It's not the best for its price, however it's superior to other models. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning capability than the Roomba 694 and it can clean both carpets with a low pile and bare. It also has an efficient cleaning route and has a longer battery life. It is also more comfortable to use and has fewer parts that require regular maintenance, costs less to own over the course of its life and charges more quickly than the 694.

It's also worth looking at other models that are more expensive within the iRobot range, such as the 981 or the v7. They're more expensive but they provide significant improvements over the 694 in terms of cleaning efficiency on both bare and low-pile floors, use a more efficient cleaning route and come with a larger dirt compartment, are quicker to charge, move more easily, and are much easier to connect to smart home devices.

Shark RV1001AE IQ

This budget self-emptying robot does an okay job on hard floors as well as carpets with a low pile. Its combination brush reaches the edges and corners and automatically increases suction as soon as it spots carpet. It also does an excellent job of cleaning dirt from carpets in the middle of the pile. The IQ has a tiny footprint and also a self-emptying function. If you want to change the floor levels or set no-go areas, you'll need to manually reset the map.

The IQ app provides advanced mapping and automated functions, however it lacks no-go zones. They are only available on iRobot robots. Its intelligent-pathing navigational system gives you greater maneuverability and its high-pile carpet cleaning mode cleans well, though it tends to get caught up in rug tassels, and its iHome speaker allows you to operate the robot by voice commands.

In our tests, the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively, clearing huge amounts of debris from floors with no flooring and fair amounts of medium-pile carpet. It was less efficient on shag carpets, where it struggled to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It did a decent job of maneuvering around chair legs and tight spaces as well as the base of a wooden IKEA step stool. We did notice that it was a little slower on floors with no flooring but it quickly recovered and performed more thoroughly than the other robots we tested.

The IQ is a better choice over the iRobot Roomba 694 for most uses. It has a larger dustbin and lasts longer on charge, and does a better job of maneuvering itself around obstacles. It has mopping tools that can remove sticky mess. The iRobot however, feels more sturdy and has fewer parts that require replacement or maintenance, incurs less cost per year, and can create virtual no go zones using its companion application. It is able to continue cleaning from where it left off, even if the battery is out before it has finished. The iRobot can also be controlled using voice commands, which is a huge benefit for many users.

Then, you can manually guide the device around the obstacle and restart it.
