Why No One Cares About Best Robot Vacuums
Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

The best way to keep your home tidy is with a robot vacuum. It will pick up dust, pet hair, and other surface debris.

Some robots are able to sync with smart assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant for a hands-free experience. Find models that recharge and then resume cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is a fantastic option for households with a variety of. It vacuums and mops well, has excellent navigation with both GPS and laser sensors, and offers a broad range of controls and features accessible through the app. It also comes with a useful feature that lets you add Cleaning zones for certain areas that require extra attention, as well as Keep Out zones where you don't want it to go. It also receives software updates, similar to the other Roomba products, that enhance it over time.

It's expensive but is also among the most sophisticated robot vacuums ZDNet has ever tested. It's equipped with a powerful battery that can sweep a large home in under two hours. It can switch between mopping and vacuuming at the touch of a button. It automatically empties the trash bin that is above its charging station, in contrast to other self-emptying robots that require you to empty the bin after every run.

It has a wide range of other features that make it an excellent option for most homes that include intelligent obstacle avoidance that utilizes the camera as well as processor-powered intelligents to identify obstacles. It isn't often entangled or entrapped during a cleaning process and is also the most effective at avoiding power cables and other objects I've tested. However, it isn't as reliable at detecting pet waste and other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Although Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in the field of low-cost robot vacuums, it's not yet an all-in-one model which can also mop. The X8 Hybrid is a new model that has a wide range of advanced features, and can compete with more expensive models.

automatic vacuum and mop robot is the primary selling point of this machine. The X8 makes use of a laser mapping system that is more precise than the previous Eufy devices. It also takes a lot less time to build up an accurate map of your living space and also stores multiple maps, which is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a great vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It can easily sling debris through the side brushes and into the 400ml dustbin. The X8's tyres, despite having a circular shape, are adept at grabbing corners and edges. It's not the best cat litter eater, however our tests have shown it only removes about 90% of the fur from hard floors.

There's a mopping mode that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. While this is a good option for loose spills however, you aren't able to regulate the amount of water it consumes, which will limit its effectiveness on more severe staining. It's effective in removing pet hair. It has a higher rate of pick-up than the Roborock S7.

3. Miele RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, effective appliances. It is a stunning design, a great navigation system, and excellent cleaning power. However, it has some operational hiccups which prevent it from being considered as the best overall smart robot vacuum.

Similar to the latest models of iRobot and models, the RX2 comes with a dual-sensor mapping system which uses the LIDAR sensor to map the space and two 3D scanning cameras to detect and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real-time. Once the room is mapped, the app lets you create virtual no-go zones as well as areas that you want to clean. will automatically clean. You can also initiate a manual clean or manually change the cleaning mode, see a live feed from the onboard cameras and more from the main screen.

The RX2's sensors work well in registering furniture and other obstructions in real-time. And its sweeping and suction power are top-notch cleaning up surface debris from carpets with medium piles and dust on floors that are unfinished. It's not the fastest robot on the market. Like many other robots it's not a very good climber and is prone to problems with things like thresholds made of steel transition strips.

Some people buy robot vacuums due to the ease of setting up a schedule in an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. It's important for a robot able to do the job and that's why our ZDNet staff has compared and looked over some of the most popular models to help you choose the best one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This round, budget robovac looks just like your typical robot but it's a step up in terms of performance and features. Its intelligent mapping system creates 2D and 3D maps of your home and uses those to avoid obstacles and navigate. It can even detect common obstacles like power cords and furniture legs in real time. This combination of sensors along with a bump sensor and an infrared sensor for dropping that keeps it off steps is what makes it one of the fastest vacuums we've tried.

In our tests, it effortlessly could climb over the thick shag rug and didn't end up stuck on them (like the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for carpet and bare flooring was higher than the competition, and it picked up 98.5 percent of dirt and embedded dog hair from our laboratory test samples.

Its controls are a bit more basic than the competition; there's an uniform cleaning button on the top, and you can launch it via the app or by voice commands using Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also set up a schedule for weekly or daily cleans, create areas that are not allowed to be cleaned, and check its cleaning history. In a smart dark gray plastics, Ion feels sturdy and is attractive in your home. The dust bin on the rear is easy to access for emptying and cleaning the filter is the same.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a basic low-cost robot vacuum at a reasonable cost, the Eufy11S is a great option. The model isn't equipped with smart features like Alexa integration and digital mapping that are found in higher-end models. If you don't need these functions, you can save money.

This robot is very easy to setup and use. It doesn't require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does include a remote control which lets you select between different modes and adjust suction level. It also allows you to manually send the robovac off on a scheduled cleaning.

During our tests, we found that the 11S was extremely efficient in cleaning pet fur and dirt from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile made it possible to fit under furniture with low hanging and other objects that larger robots are unable to reach. It was also able to easily traverse door thresholds and transition between floors and another.

The 11S, just like other robots, will also eat some objects, such as cords and cat toys. The manufacturer suggests you keep these objects off the ground and using a cord organiser if possible. It also suggests cleaning the dustbin periodically by replacing the filters and changing or washing the brushes when needed.

6. IRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba 980 is iRobot's flagship robot vacuum. It's costly however it's an excellent performer and, in some ways, the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self-navigating features and environmental mapping are something to behold. It also comes with more advanced automation features than many competitors, such as the ability to set virtual boundary lines with its mobile app. While its app isn't the most responsive, and the 980 does spin out a bit when crossing cables, it's an extremely efficient robot vacuum.

One thing we love about the 980 is the fact that it utilizes its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors and its visual simultaneous mapping and localisation technology (or vSLAM) to remember the floor plan of your home. It will use this data to create a consistent, efficient cleaning path through each cycle. The result is cleaner floors, and a cleaner vacuum than other high-end robot vacuums.

Other features of the 980 include dual multi-surface brushes that capture dirt on floors and carpets, as well as an ejector brush that spins to sweep debris into the robotic vacuum's bin. The sensor for floor tracking assists in navigating between furniture, along edges and on the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It can also return automatically to the base station to allow for recharging in between sessions. While the 980's battery life and bin size aren't as good as those of other robot vacuums it's a solid and reliable machine that can keep your floors spotless for hours on end.
