For my part A on my arts award, I had decided to make a dress. I wanted to make a dress because I find them as a staple fashion piece that is a classic. Initially I had many idea on what I wanted to make, but i knew i wanted to make a dress. I drew 3 designs when i finally descided on the final one. I then adapted that design to the best i think i could have made it at my ability. I also had to take into consideration that i cannot do anything too complex as i havent made a dress before, but i am always up for a challange. Here, on the lefton the page, is the final design i had made, and i am very proud of it. It is something simple yet sleek and could work on many people. I chose to make it black because black goes with everything and suits most people. It is also believed to be the colour to make people look slimmer, who knows if thats true? The day after i had finalised the design, me and my mum went to the fabric shop and bought the sufficient ammount of black cotton. I used cotton as it is easy to work with yet it offers a nice look. As soon as i returned home, i drew out a pattern piece and got to work. The dress took me around 2 days to make, in spaced out sittings to do so. I thoughrly enjoyed making this dress, and it had encouraged me to make more clothing items in the future. Although i liked making it, i also came upon some struggles. I easily got stressed with it as it was quite fidly, but i ploughed through and carried on. I enjoyed designing the dress the most, as i love drawing and i felt more comfetable doing that rather than the making of the dress. I have learned whilst doing this that nothing comes easy and if you want to do something you are proud of, you are really going to need to put the work and time into it. Finally, If i could do this project again, i would have tried to not make the silly mistakes i had in the first time. They could have been missed easily yet i was caught up in other things that i didnt realise i was doing them. But, i had overcome them the best i could and i am very proud of my final product.
