This can cause a number of problems, such as swelling in the feet and legs, difficulty lying flat in bed or going up stairs and dizziness.
Rheumatic heart disease
The heart can be damaged by rheumatic fever, which can lead to a heart condition called rheumatic heart disease. This is often a silent condition that does not show any symptoms until many years after the original illness.
