The contemporary interior features an open floor plan, a glass wall dining room overlooking the covered porch, and convenient one-level living. Mountain Road doesn’t only work with dark paint colors — for this Craftsman house, our designers suggested a fully earth-tone palette. The subdued hue of Benjamin Moore’s Manchester Tan used on the columns and trim provides a gentle contrast to the neutral Mountain Road brick and stucco. From there, our designers used the darker Benjamin Moore’s Aegean Olive for smaller details, like the porch floor, windows, and attic trim, making the design more dynamic. Craftsman houses have evolved with broad interpretations and are still a popular style.

Today, you’re likely to see Craftsman-style homes in a wide variety of colors, though many homeowners still lean toward earthy color schemes when working toward this style. Exterior renovations to this Craftsman-style home focused on playing up the Arts and Crafts aesthetic, which favors clean lines and natural materials. The restored front door features a hand-hewn feel and looks out on a concrete porch, which was given new cut marks to suggest stone-block construction. This modern craftsman house has a gable on each end, making it appear neat and symmetrical. For this design, we especially love how both peaks are above a functional aspect of the home. The peak on the left hovers over the entrance and covers the porch, while the one on the right is above the garage.

Today’s Craftsman house plans combine the traditional style with the usability of a more modern home. We invite you to view the elegant and thoughtful details in these gorgeous homes. https://sites.google.com/view/exterior-craftsman-design-tips/home ’ll fall in love with the wide-sash windows, built-ins, front porches and iconic deep eaves. The beautiful craftsman style homes are credited to the late nineteenth century British architecture. During the industrial revolution, art and craft movement reject the mass production and accept the handcrafted product. Originally, Gustav Stickley’s house plans designed are called craftsman style architecture.

Initially, only the specific home plans in Stickley’s magazine were called “Craftsman homes,” but eventually, the moniker was given to the increasingly popular style at large. The right color, trim, and placement of materials make or break Craftsman style homes. The warmth of the stone and wood elements are balanced with the coolness of the color scheme, with a thoughtful decorative trim detailing. Notice the wood ceiling beneath the post and beam entry gable and the rafter tails above the garage addition! These elements make all the difference when it comes to creating that stunning Craftsman design. Cypress Lake brings back the modern Craftsman style of the early 19th century with low roof pitches and a large front porch.

Even though craftsman homes are simple and straight-forward, many feature artisan details that signify their unique and careful craftsmanship. This can include handcrafted woodwork, decorative brackets, and unique millwork on walls or around doors and windows. Often, craftsman homes feature welcoming front porches that feature wide expanses supported by substantial square or tapered columns. These porches serve as an outdoor living space that also enhances the home’s connection with nature.
What makes a beautiful house exterior? Beautiful house exterior design can be complemented with attractive architectural features. Unique details can include beautiful landscaping ideas, gorgeous exterior color combinations, outdoor lighting, charming fences, and a spacious porch.

The generous front porches let families mingle with their neighbors more easily. Increase the connection between landscape and home by repeating natural elements from the architecture make your choose craftsman design (such as stone and wood) in the landscape. Beautiful details on a fence or garden gate will echo the architecture of your home and enhance the view from the street.
Sage Green
Most of the time, these fireplaces are flanked by built-ins, such as cabinets, bookshelves, etc. Our designers suggest playing up the entire wall by the fireplace to make it stand out. Craftsman style homes are houses that first appeared during the late 1800’s and remained popular until the early 1900’s, with the advent of the Arts & Crafts Movement. Try pairing a white exterior with color details to make your house shine like black iron windows or engaging materials like shingles or stone. Going for a full monochrome look is also very classic and will create a smooth look for your house.

I’ll bet more of you are going for walks now that the weather is warming up. Do you like to walk around pretty neighborhoods while admiring the daffodils and tulips? One of my favorite housing styles I like to see on my walks is the charming craftsman style that originated right here in the U.S. This contemporary-style craftsman home has a really unusual and experimental design that looks very much in touch with nature with its design and stunning sage green color that dominates the home. The gaps in the front area are filled with an environmentally friendly meadow garden that is currently in its early stages of development. You can easily spot a craftsman-style home for its simplicity, dedicated craftsmanship, and usage of all-natural elements, which is just the greatest thing about these homes.
Craftsman House Plans
To make a craftsman home more modern, our designers have a slew of ideas that will get you inspired. Check out some of our favorite modern craftsman house designs below. Related to bungalow and prairie homes, craftsman style house plans feature wood, stone or stucco siding, a low-pitched roof and wide eaves with exposed wood rafters. The low-slung roof typically has multiple projections to give the home a "built-in" feel. Craftsman-style homes are a classic type of house characterized by their bungalow-inspired layouts and quaint, charming designs.

Exposed rafter tails stick out from under the eaves, adding interest to the roofline and tying the new addition in with the rest of the home. A garden of more than 100 plant species complements the Craftsman-style architecture. Color-coordinated containers beckon visitors onto the porch of this Arts and Crafts home. Spring-green ceramic spheres match the containers to provide a unifying effect. Pedestal urns positioned by the doorway tie in with the tapered porch columns.

This Remington Architecture-designed home in the woods exudes warmth and tradition. Brick, board-and-batten, and shingles come together on the exterior of Carodine to give this house Craftsman charm. We love this plan's additional features, such as the spacious primary suite and the ability to expand into the bonus area above the garage for an extra bedroom. Have you noticed the abundance of windows throughout this modern craftsman home?
