As I walked through the torii gate at Dazaifu Tenmangu in Fukuoka, I was immediately drawn to the spiritual presence emanating from Honden. The shrine’s striking colors and intricate architecture revealed its rich history. When I walked towards the main shrine, I smelled the air filled with the soothing fragrance of incense, mingling with the heartfelt prayers of worshippers.
