Harriet Tubman was a slave who worked in the fields, woods, and waterways as a child slave. Harriet herself was very smart for a slave. [ no offense to slaves but they were not that smart because they didnt have an eduacation] Then on September 17 1849 Harriet Tubman escaped from her plantation in Maryland! Running 90 miles north to Philidelphia was probably very hard, especially since it was cold outside, but she made it. When Harriet made it she found work as an housekeeper, but was'nt satisfied with her work there so decided to go back to the plantation and save her family. The whole time she was in philly she was being " hunted. " After saving her family and taking them back to Philidelphia, she went back again and again to save mobs of slaves to free them! but while she was taking the slaves back home she ran into some troubles! She had been found by the " hunters " But luckily she was well prepared and so were the slaves with guns and ammunition while the opps only had bows and the slaves went pew pew and they were dead. In philedelphia, Harriet spoke out against slavery and became a hero to around 70 enslaved people
