The capital of Bulgaria, Sofia is home to an eclectic mix of historical sites and newer buildings. It’s a great city to just wander around and soak in the architecture. The city center is fairly compact so it’s easy to navigate. I like to get intentionally lost and just see what’s around the next corner.

You’ll find a lot of restaurants, shops, and bars around the main square. There are also a few rooftop bars that offer beautiful views of the city. It’s a good idea to make reservations if you plan on visiting one of the rooftop bars, as they can fill up quickly. The one with the best view is Sense, which is located right in the heart of the city and offers a lovely sunset.

Sofia has a humid continental climate. The warmest month is July and the coldest is January. The average temperature is 5 °C (41 °F). There are about 10 sunshine hours per day in July and the city receives an average of 70mm of precipitation each year.

If you want to experience the culture of Sofia then you should visit some of the museums and galleries that the city has to offer. The Museum of National History is a great place to start, but there are many more museums and galleries that you can visit throughout the city.

Aside from the museums and galleries there are also a lot of other things that you can do in Sofia. For example, you can check out the Boyana Church which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site or the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral. There are also a few parks that you can visit in the city, including Borisova Park which is a beautiful park with plenty of space to walk around and enjoy the scenery.

There are also several taxi services that you can use if you don’t feel like taking the public transport.

Another great attraction is the Ivan Vasov House Museum which is a must-see for anyone who loves literature. This is the house that was once the home of the famous Bulgarian author and is now a museum.
