Peru Organic Fair Trade Coffee 1kg

Fair trade coffee eliminates the middlemen by allowing buyers of green coffee to directly interact with farmers. This ensures top-quality coffee beans and a sustainable income for farmers.

The market for coffee is a volatile one and farmers struggle to make enough money. Fair trade offers farmers stability through the Fairtrade minimum price and an additional incentive for organically-grown coffee.

Peru Organic

This Peru Organic coffee has a sweet taste with a pleasant acidity. It has hints of orange and cocoa with an underlying cinnamon flavor. This fair trade certified coffee has been procured from a sustainable and eco conscious producer.

In Peru coffee is grown predominantly by small farms with just a few hectares or less. Farmers generally join cooperatives to share costs of equipment and gain access to markets. A growing number of farmers have decided organic farming to enhance the quality of their produce and avoid pesticides.

The farm from which this coffee comes, Cenfrocafe, is located in the provinces of Jaen and San Ignacio in north western Peru near the border with Ecuador. The coop is comprised of 2400 farmers who are members of the coop who grow their coffee on small plots ranging from 1300 to 2000 meters, between 4300 and 6500 feet at the highest elevations in the region. Farmers take very careful care to ensure that the harvest is picked just at the right time, so as to get the most value from the beans.

Our Peru organic coffee is fully cleaned and sun dried which gives it an intense, distinctive taste. The high altitude in this area produces a complex, medium-bodied coffee with mild citric acidity.

Women in Peru cultivate this coffee as part of a movement known as Cafe Femenino, which is changing the role women play in the coffee-growing communities of the rural areas. The coffee is grown and processed by women, which gives them the chance to use the extra funds derived from the sale of their product to further their own and their families' well-being. In addition, a part of the money spent on this coffee goes to the women who made the product. This helps them expand their business, provide healthcare and education to their children, as well as support their families. This is truly an amazing coffee that has been grown since the year 1700 using methods that have been handed through word of mouth for generations.

Peru Arabica

Peru is a country with a lot of high-quality coffee. Its thin air and soaring altitudes provide the perfect setting for the cultivation of the crop. The country is the ninth largest producer of coffee in the world, with a share of 2%. It is also a top producer of organic and Fair Trade Coffee.

The Spanish introduced the Ethiopian coffee to Peru after the 16th Century. Since the time Peru has been a major player in the international coffee market. It is among the five major producers of Arabica.

The country is home to small farm families who have joined together to form cooperatives. This has enabled them to gain access to fair trade prices and to market their beans directly. Small farms are also encouraged to use eco-friendly methods to reduce the environmental impact of their coffee production.

Volcafe's cluster program has helped to stabilize the supply chain for roasters while providing detailed traceability from field to FOB contract. This allows roasters the ability to make informed choices and track their entire purchase history. This method has been crucial to the success of Volcafe's collaboration with Peruvian farmers.

In the past, coffee was encouraged as a replacement for coca plants by many farmers. The government is constantly looking for ways to replace illicit crops with coffee, which will boost profits for the coffee industry. This is a good thing, however it can be a challenge for the local population.

It is therefore important to provide adequate financial support to farmers to maintain their livelihoods, and to ensure that their well-being and health of their families is not compromised. It is also essential to encourage the creation of new products that can boost productivity and improve the quality of coffee.

The fair trade Peru HB MCM grade 1 is a unique coffee that is grown in the northern region of Cajamarca. This single-origin, medium-roasted coffee is a perfect representation of the region's unique flavor profile. It has a tangy scent with hints of cinnamon and the spice of nutmeg. Colombian

The emerald country of Colombia is home to stunning forests, huge mountains, and a superb coffee. The country produces more arabica beans washed than any other in the world, and is skilled in the production of a wide range of truly exquisite, sought-after coffees that are usually distinctive. Colombian coffees are known for their rich, mellow and full-bodied taste and their pleasant acidic taste, which is always perfectly balanced and has the slightest hint of sweetness that never tastes cloying or overwhelming.

Traditionally, Colombian coffee has been grown at elevations of between 1,200 and 2,000 meters above sea level. Here, the best Colombian coffee beans are harvested and grown. In general, the top quality Colombian coffees are called Supremo. This refers to the bean size (screen sizes 17 or 18).

After harvest, the coffee cherries are carefully picked by hand, ensuring only ripe and healthy beans make it through the remainder of the process. At this stage, the ripe fruit is separated from the beans, which are then cleaned and dried in the sun. The beans that have been washed are separated and sorted by quality control teams, in accordance with their size and density, as well as colour. ensuring that only high-quality consistent coffee is able to make it into the shelves of supermarkets around the world.

Farmers and workers also get a Fairtrade Premium, which is an extra amount in addition to the purchase price. They can then invest in their own businesses or community projects. Fair Trade helps small-scale farmers form small cooperatives and producer groups to gain access to larger markets.

This premium is invested directly into the communities in which coffee is grown. It contributes to an environmentally sustainable development model and helps protect the environment. It also ensures that working conditions are safe, work hours are controlled, and there is freedom of association. There is also no tolerance for child labour and slavery. 1kg of coffee beans paid by the farmers allows them protect their families and to invest in their future. It allows them to preserve their cultural traditions, and produce coffee which is both delicious and authentic.

Indonesian

With its equatorial climate and the soaring mountains, Indonesia is one of the biggest coffee producers in the world. The varying conditions for growing and traditional wet hulling processing methods create distinctive flavour notes that make Indonesian beans extremely desirable for single origin coffees and blends alike. These heavy-bodied, rich coffees have a long spicy finish with a smooth texture. They work well with darker roasts.

The women led Ketiara co-op located in the Gayo Highlands in Sumatra is famous for its earthy and powerful body with delicious undertones of cedar and cocoa. The coffee is fair trade and organic certified, and helps ensure a sustainable future for farmers and their communities. The Ketiara co-op also helps in the conservation of the area around Leuser National Park by using shade-grown farming to help protect the ecosystem.

In a region renowned for its volcanic soil it's no surprise that the soil is perfect for growing coffee. However, this rich natural resource is under threat due to the increasing number of foreign coffee farmers that have dominated the market. Many local farmers aren't able to compete with the prices of these big corporations and have been forced to leave their farms.

In the absence of direct trade, on average, $0.15 of every $3 cup of coffee is paid to the farmer. Fair trade is important because this system must be altered. By establishing direct trading relationships, farmers can create income security, which will prevent the drastic fluctuations in demand from season to season.

Our natural organic Sulawesi fair trade beans are carefully selected from farmers who follow the principles of traditional Hindu agriculture known as "Sabuk Abian." The farms are located in the Kintamani highland region between the Batukaru and Agung volcanoes. They supply the fields with fresh volcanic ash, which keeps the soil fertile. The organic and Fair Trade coffee is creamy, full-bodied and spicy with a long-lasting finish. This dark roast is delicious as is or as part of a rich mix.
