A Trip Back In Time What People Said About Twilight Princess 20 Years Ago
Twilight Princess Game Review

The most dark and serious of the Nintendo 3D Zelda games, Twilight Princess pushes the limits of graphical presentation to its maximum limits on the Wii's hardware. It's darker and more disturbing than The Wind Waker. There aren't any bug-eyed pigs, nor effeminate Pirates.

Link is drawn into a parallel dimension called Twilight Realm, where he transforms into a Hylian and a wolf while being guided by Midna.

Gameplay

Twilight Princess is the thirteenth installment in The Legend of Zelda series. It was released in 2006 for the Nintendo GameCube system and Wii. The game was praised by critics and received top scores from a variety of publications, including 1UP, CVG, EGM and GamesRadar. It is considered by many as the best games in the series, and it was the most-seller Zelda game on the PAL market.

Twilight princess has a stylized and naturalistic graphics style that is like that of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, with a more advanced graphical engine. Twilight princess is the first game in the series with a fully directional movement control system, instead of a fixed viewpoint like previous games. This modification was made in order to work with the Wii console's point-based interface. The GameCube version of the game comes with a section in the back that has mirror-image maps for those who prefer the fixed view.

Upon entering the Twilight Realm, Link is transformed into a wolf and meets Midna, the mysterious creature. She informs Link that the kingdom of Hyrule is now under the control of a group of shadow beasts that are led by the evil sorcerer Zant. She also explains that she is the real ruler of Twili, but was usurped and cursed to her present form by Zant.

A short cutscene shows soldiers being killed by shadow beasts after Link and Midna arrive at Hyrule Castle. Link and Midna then escape from the castle by a tunnel to enter the Twilight Realm.

In the Twilight Realm, Link can utilize his wolf-like form to move around more freely around the world. He can also make use of his senses to navigate around the world. He can sense ghosts of soldiers and animals in the distance. He can also whistle and pull grass from specific patches to summon an animal such as an Hawk, Epona or other. Link can also whistle near the patches to summon an identical animal.

Twilight Princess is no different from earlier Zelda titles in that music plays an important role. Link can play instruments that are musical like the flute or the harp, to attract and call on different animals. He can also use his voice to command the wolf's appearance. Additionally, he could use his compass to guide him around the world and stay out of trouble.

Characters

The Legend of Zelda is full of colorful and unique characters that leave an impression that will last forever. From hands emerging from toilets to pirate sailors sailing across vast oceans, these wacky and unique characters are the core of the game. Twilight Princess continues in the tradition of previous games, and introduces numerous memorable characters.

In the course of the story, Link meets new NPCs that are not only intriguing, but also plausible. It is a huge step in the right direction that many of these NPCs actually play a part in the story, rather than just being a victim. NPCs such as Rusl who declares that the forest is dangerous and kidnaps children, or the Ordon villager who disguises himself as a wolf to hide his identity when the children are being kidnapped each has their own unique personality.

Other notable characters include Iza who manages the Boat Rental Caf in Lanayru Province and Iza's rapid ride, Louise Telma’s cat, who helps Wolf Link find a secret access point to the castle through her bar and sewer system, and Faron who's spirit helps guide Link to the Forest Temple in Eldin Province. The duo defeats the Fused Shadow possessed by Diababa and obtains the first Tear of Light.

Midna is the princess of the Twilight Realm and one of the most intriguing characters in the game. She is a part of the Triforce of Wisdom and can shift between her human form and her impish wolf form. She is friends with Link and tells him about her experience in the twilight realm and how she defeated Zant the king of Twilight.

Zant is the evil sorcerer that rules the Twilight Realm. He possesses the second half of the Triforce of Wisdom. He was removed to the Twilight Realm by the goddesses for taking over their land and enslaving the people. Midna can dispel Zant's power which allows him to change into his human form when required.

The game also has an improved horse called Epona that can be mounted in Hylian and wolf versions. Link can whistle around certain patches of grass to summon the animal (similar to Majora's Mask). Twilight Princess is the first game in the series where the player can identify their horse.

Theme

Music is an important part of any Zelda title. It can make a game appear epic, expansive, and engrossing. However, Twilight Princess is criticized for its inconsistent and unreliable soundtrack that doesn't convey the emotional impact of certain scenes. Contrarily, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask have enthralling compositions that bloom at the right moment to create a feeling of majestic and eerie.

Toru Minegishi and Asuka Ohta were responsible for the music and sound design in Twilight Princess, with Koji Kondo overseeing the series's composers for the first time since Wind Waker. The soundtrack for Twilight Princess is a radical deviation from the standard approach to the series, with a minimalistic approach to music and arrangements. The majority of dungeon and field themes begin with a single instrument, creating an atmospheric and eerie atmosphere for the player. Midna's Lament, for example, uses a simple keyboard to create a sense of sadness for the player.

The themes of dungeons are the most prominent examples of this trend towards minimalism, with many themes featuring a dull and dark atmosphere. This is most evident in Twilight Realm, which has an unsettling soundscape that could be heard on the soundtrack of a David Lynch movie. The lack of melody and the traditional arrangement of this track enhances its ominous, spooky nature. Drones and odd patterns collide to create a bleak texture.

Link's song from his hometown, "Faron Woods," is a more upbeat and joyful song. This tune uses various soft tones and stringed instruments to evoke an idyllic sense of peace and safety for the player. The song has subtle references to the most well-known scene in the franchise, as it features an riff that is similar to the famous melody that plays at the Ocarina of Time's start.

There are also a few dynamic songs in Twilight Princess that change depending on where the player is and what they're doing, and what's happening. Hyrule Castle Town has different versions of the theme for each part of the town. Central Square, for instance, has a more boisterous version. These variations add a wonderful flavor to the world of Hyrule that adds a sense of depth and immersion.

Story

The story of Twilight Princess revolves around Link trying to prevent Hyrule from being engulfed by the corrupted dimension known as the Twilight Realm. To achieve this, Link assumes the appearance of a Hylian or as well as a Wolf and is aided by a woman called Midna.

demo slot princes 1000 was the original ruler of Twili but she was usurped and cursed by Zant to transform into her imp form. Link and Midna are informed by the Sages of the Old Testament that only by defeating Ganondorf will be capable of releasing them from their curse. The Sages then reveal that the Mirror of Twilight is the source of the darkness that exists in the Twilight Realm. Midna and Link travel to the Spirit's Spring where they encounter predatory creatures that kidnap children. Wolf Link's keen nose assists them in tracking the children's scent to a nearby bridge that they cross over into the Twilight Realm.

They enter the Forest Temple, battle Diababa and get the first Fused Shadow. After this, Faron informs them that the next stop is the Eldin Province to the west (Wii) or east (GCN).

Midna, at the Lakebed Temple of Lanayru teleports Link to a fiery rock and uses her powers on the ice below Lake Hylia. The spirit of the recently deceased Zora Queen, Rutela, then appears and tells Link that he must visit the Lakebed Temple in order to gain access to a treasure from the Zora.

Returning from Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask, the horse Epona can again be riding in Twilight Princess. Link can select the name of the horse, a change from the predetermined names of the previous games.

After arriving in the Twilight Realm, Midna and Link recover the remaining Mirror Shards. In the Palace of Twilight, the Sages reveal that Midna is actually the real ruler of the Twili and Hyrule kingdoms, but she has been overlooked by the monarchy and was turned into an idol to gain power. The Sages tell them that they will only be defeated by Ganondorf by bringing Ganondorf to the light and break the pact made between the Twilight kingdom and the Hyrule kingdom.
