If you have a bit of time to kill, you can see Beinan Archaelogical Site (卑南遺址公園) beside it. You can find craft shops, a few cafés/bars, and the occasional concert at Dulan Sugar Factory (新東糖廠文化園區). You’ll have to walk around 20 minutes or ride a bicycle/scooter to get there. With a scooter, you could also drive up to Luye Highlands (鹿野高台), where there are tea farms/shops. In summer, the incredible Taitung Hot Air Balloon Festival takes place up there, too (see “Taitung Events” section at the end).
Vietnamese coffee is a popular food souvenir, and you can find various brands and flavors to choose from. Pre-packaged Banh Mi kits that include all the necessary ingredients to recreate this mouthwatering sandwich at home are easy to find in local stores or through online shops. Alternatively, you can also bring back jars of pickled vegetables and pate to add an authentic 台東伴手禮推薦 touch to your homemade Banh Mi. But you should know that it gets extremely hot and humid, and typhoons aren’t uncommon in these parts. Winter isn’t a bad season to visit, but the weather can be unpredictable. Another thing to note is that if you’re planning to cycle in Chishang during winter, you’ll find many paddies either still barren or busy being planted.
These markets are perfect for souvenir shopping or finding a special gift to bring back home. Visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of the night markets while browsing through a diverse range of products, from handmade jewelry to stylish clothing items. Overall, Taitung offers a plethora of options for visitors looking to purchase authentic, locally designed clothing and accessories as memorable gifts. Many of these items are handcrafted by local artisans, adding a unique and authentic touch to the souvenir shopping experience. Here are five of the best locally made souvenirs you can pick up next time you’re in this wonderful west coast city. Green Island – this island located off the east coast of Taitung offers coral beaches, tropical forests, and fresh saltwater hot springs.
From a distance, it is very easy to see which destination the minibus will depart for. When these craftsmen retire, it can be said that it is very difficult to buy another set of hand-made mahjong tiles. However, if you like to collect some special Hong Kong products, Mahjong brand may be the most suitable gift choice for you. If you want to buy products with Hong Kong characteristics, you may think of going to Temple Street or Ladies Market. However, these two places mainly sell some products of average quality, and the price is definitely not cheap.
It is the perfect park for relaxing and it will take you close to nature. The park is expanded by approximately 10km with different vegetation and trails are designed in unique and adventurous ways that will keep you three hours busy in exploration. You can rent the battery or manual bicycle for a ride in the park and that is available at affordable prices in nearby shops. The park has a restroom at various locations and the complete information is highlighted in the Park in bilingual languages. But there are no restaurants in the Park or water dispensers or vending machines. Japan offers a delightful array of tasty treats that cater to all palates.
I still enjoyed the interesting architecture and the couple shops that were open. The best part, is this place anchored by Sabra Andre's store, the amazing indigenous designer who has an incredible fashion shop here. Miso paste and instant miso soup cups can be easily found in supermarkets throughout Japan, making it accessible for anyone to enjoy this traditional Japanese soup.
On the bright side, you will get to experience local hospitality from independent hotels and homestay (called “minsu”). Many restaurants in Taitung serve QQ rice noodles, typically served with ground pork sauce and bonito fish flakes. I tried a couple of restaurants, but in my opinion, Rong Shu Xia has the best rice noodles in town. As you might have suspected from endless rice fields, East Rift Valley in Taitung produces top-quality, sticky, and chewy rice. No wonder rice noodles are one of the regional specialty dishes you should not miss. Whether you like to eat lamb as breakfast or not, the restaurant only opens in the morning.
Whether it’s handwoven textiles, intricate pottery, or indigenous handicrafts, each souvenir tells a story and carries with it the spirit of Taitung’s vibrant community. Additionally, visitors can participate in indigo dyeing workshops, where they can learn the traditional art of dyeing fabric with natural indigo plants. These workshops not only offer a creative and immersive experience but also support local artisans and preserve traditional craftsmanship in the region. Taitung Township in Taiwan is known for its stunning natural landscapes and rich biodiversity, offering a wide range of unique souvenirs that are inspired by its surroundings. One popular souvenir is handmade ceramics featuring designs of local flora and fauna, such as indigenous flowers or endemic bird species found in the region.
Rice has been the lifeblood of Thailand since well before it was even called “Thailand,” and taking home such an essential part of life is a meaningful, yet useable souvenir. Their signature hot chocolate is made with melted dark chocolate pieces mixed into steamed milk–and it has been named one of Australia’s best chocolates by publications like The Age. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly, making this an ideal place to stop on your way through Melbourne if you’re looking for something tasty that won’t break the bank .
We’ve tried many brands in Lisbon, Obidos, and beyond, but remain partial to Ginjinha Espinheira (it’s fabulous). We currently live in Lisbon as American expats and have accumulated quite a collection of fun souvenirs from Portugal . If you love the scent and fragrances, this is the perfect place to pick up sandalwood soaps, joss sticks, and the intense aroma of raw spices in Little India.
Once again, the local markets and night markets are filled to the brim with these. Vietnamese coffee is famous for its flavour and preparation and can be found almost everywhere, from coffee shops and local markets to shopping malls and also at the airport. It is easily accessible for purchase, particularly at any of the traditional markets or souvenir shops. It’s a chance to both step into local life and bring home some bargain souvenirs. While my favorite foreign supermarkets are in France, Italy comes in at a close second. Night market is a must visit place if you are in Taitung and Taiwan in general, no questions asked.
From the stunning landscapes of the East Rift Valley, to the great parks in the city, and a fun surfing destination in Dulan, Taitung offers something for everyone. The festival features dozens of hot air balloons from around the world, each with its unique design, turning the sky into vibrant colors and shapes. Tiehua Music Village is a vibrant cultural hotspot in the heart of Taitung. Kayajam or “kaya” is a big part of a traditional Singaporean food eaten at breakfast time. Basically, it is a creamy coconut jam made with coconut milk, eggs and sugar.
While in Vietnam don’t miss out on trying cà phê sữa đá – a firm favorite of the locals. This traditional, tight fitting long dress, used by both men and women especially on special occasions, can be found all over Vietnam. The garment comprises long sleeves, a stand collar, and side seam slits up to the waist worn over pants.
As you walk through the park, you’ll come across several exhibits that showcase the lifestyles, beliefs, and art of this ancient culture. With this Taitung travel itinerary, you’ll discover some of the best hidden gems in the area. First, explore the East Rift Valley Scenic Area by hiking through lush forests and colorful fields. Then, head to the coastal town of Dulan to discover the vibrant art scene and surf culture. Guangfu Sugar Factory was built in 1920, also known as “Yilian garden”.
