Jay is now desperately unhappy at the tenancy support flat. He has been living there now

for four months and he has been having problems with the other service users. He says one

of his neighbours is verbally abusive to him and keeps banging on his wall late into the

evening. He doesn’t get on with the keyworker, and says there is a ’personality clash’ as

they are from different religions and he doesn’t understand his mental health needs.

Jay is stating that he wants to be independent and manage his own health and now is ready

live on his own. Jay says he wants to try ‘alternative ‘drug treatments which are more

expensive and not widely available on the NHS. He feels he can manage his own drug regime

and can recognise when he is starting to feel depressed or get manic. He is requesting a

change of keyworker, and a grant to set up in his own flat. His parents keep calling the social

worker demanding to know what their son has said.

The keyworker is concerned by Jays behaviour. He says that Jay has not been managing in

fully supported tenancy and that it is actually Jay who is causing disruption to the other

tenants by blasting loud music & coming and going very late at night. He says Jay has been

drinking alcohol and driving, not sticking to his meetings with the social worker or

psychiatrist. He is concerned he is now a risk to himself & others and feels he should be

sectioned under the Mental Health Act.
