some problems that cause the decline or instability of government or a nation is, the abuse of power, or not giving your citizens materials and health care and keeping materials for your own selfish reasons. Also not listening to your citizens wishes and making your country/nation follow cruel unfair rules.

The roman army won victories abroad, but the republic faced mounting economic troubles at home. The gap between the rich and the poor grew wider. many farmers faced financial ruins.

power was still held by the patrician's and most romans were plebeians who farmed small spots of land.

in the 100s B.C., farmers began to fall into poverty and debt. Why? Many small farmers had neglected their fields while fighting in romans wars. now the farmers did not have crops to harvest.
if I was in roman upper-class, I would tell the government to help the poor citizens in his empire, so he has future stronger armies. I would also tell him to open more farms and help the farmers so they farm more crops so they can have healthier foods for people in their empire.
