14 Questions You Shouldn't Be Afraid To Ask About Slot Rankings
Slot Rankings - How Wide Receivers Score More Touchdowns in the Slot

Slot machines function exactly the same way every spin, so you won't be able to discover any secret tricks to beat them. However there are a few things to keep in mind to maximize your winnings.

Find out the RTP of a game first. This statistic shows how much players should expect to win in the long term.

Slot Efficiency

Slot efficiency is the aim of maximising the amount of slot switches that can be made while not violating certain constraints. These constraints may include, for instance the minimal operational delay (usually expressed as scheduling delays), fairness, equity access, competition environmental goals and many more. The slot allocation process can be a complex process and optimizing it in order to achieve desired performance metrics requires a careful analysis of the factors involved.

The process starts by identifying the different types of requests that need to be prioritized by reference to historical precedents. Once the type of request has been identified, a slot allocation model is utilized to reduce the delay criterion. However, numerous research gaps have been observed related to the optimization of slot scheduling models particularly when it comes to trying to balance fairness and efficiency.

ABC (assigned according to velocity) is a popular method of prioritizing slot assignments. This method collects the item's history and determines an appropriate grouping based on the velocity. Items that have the highest velocity get the best slots, whereas smaller velocity items are placed further back in the warehouse.

Another key element of slot efficiency is the distance factor, which measures the amount of space that must be allocated to support the pick-to-ship process. The factor considers the velocity group, racking locations and the characteristics of handling equipment of the items.

It is also important to take into consideration the costs of a change in the slot in order to increase the efficiency of the slot. Managers can assess the costs of a typical change to a slot and the impact it has on other aspects of slot efficiency such as speed by studying a typical slot.

After a few months of validating the data, and re-evaluating the recommendations, the casino began using the system more often. The gaming operations team estimates that they will save 10-12 hours a month with their traditional analysis but that doesn't count the time spent reviewing customer-rated data or preparing and analyzing new, actionable strategies.

The team was able, with the help of the new recommendations offered by SRE to make a number of game changes that increased the revenue of players. In particular, Dancing Drums Explosion and Twinstar Wave XL both from Scientific Games, saw big gains in the premium lease and WAP rankings. The casino was also capable of shifting its budget from marketing to other costs and improve the floor's performance.

Perimeter Efficiency

We all know that wide receivers are more likely to score more touchdowns on areas that are not targeted by slot targets because they're typically targeted further downfield and are often faced with one-on-one coverage. What may be surprising to some, however, is that the top five slot players and the rest of the group score differently on perimeter targets.

Of the wide receivers who have had at least 40 targets in each of the last two seasons, the top five slot scorers on the perimeter routes were all speed receivers: Mike Evans, Amari Cooper, Tyler Lockett and Michael Gallup. The bottom half of this list is filled with receivers who are more possession-based such as Chris Godwin and Diontae Johnston. The latter two are likely to see an increase in their targets this season, if the Bucs shift them into the slot more often however, they'll have to improve their perimeter scoring to maintain their high standards.

The slot is a great option for wideouts that are quick, since they can open up more easily when their route won't be covered by a linebacker or cornerback. The only wide receiver who isn't speedy on the list who benefits from more slot work is Corey Coleman, as he's an extremely reliable player on intermediate and short routes.

The last spot on the list features more possession-based receivers who perform better on short and intermediate routes than deep ones such as Jerry Jeudy and KJ Hamler. Jeudy is a great sleeper pick this year, as he'll be the primary slot receiver for the Rams while Courtland Sutton and Amari Cooper are expected to be involved on more downfield targets. Hamler is expected to excel on shorter-to-mid and intermediate routes, since that's where he excelled while playing for the Bills in 2021. Hamler could be a great replacement for the former wideout Jordan Matthews.

Percentage of Snaps in the Slot

The proportion of snaps a receiver plays in the slot is an excellent indicator of their ability to run deep routes. However, it's not always an accurate representation of a receiver's skill set since certain receivers excel in the slot, but aren't able to play deep and vice versa.

Alshon Jeffrey, as an example leads the league in goals per game (4.8), but is only ranked 6th when it comes to the slot that receives scores (58.5). This is because the majority of his targets come from outside and it's difficult to make a first down on a wide-open, deep route.

Some receivers are better at playing inside, whereas others struggle to do so on the outside. Robby Anderson, for example was given 978 snaps by the Panthers this season. He logged 74% of his route in the slot, as opposed to just 26% on boundary routes. This is a huge difference and shows just how much more productive Anderson is when he's aligned with the slot.

Furthermore there is the Buccaneers' Chris Godwin lines up inside on most of his passing downs, and has a top five slot receiving score (58.5). He also ran 51% of his perimeter routes and is a master in one-on-one coverage.

Speed receivers tend to be more efficient when they align inside. slots for fun can be targeted further down the field and are often faced with one-on-one coverage. This is why you'll see names like Julio Jones, Mike Evans and Amari Cooper on the top five spots of our list.

On the other hand there are some excellent slot cornerbacks like McDuffie and Moore in this group. McDuffie leads the NFL in forced fumbles, with seven, and Moore has the best tackle-stop performance (-3.5) on this list. By using McDuffie in the slot when they run nickel or dime packages, and then deploying him on the outside of base defense, Spagnuolo has maximized his abilities. Additionally, Moore's ability to stop big run plays has been a huge asset when playing in the slot.

Percentage of Snaps Outside

While the NFL's top receivers, such as Baldwin, Golden Tate and Larry Fitzgerald excel on the perimeter, it's also important to note that their slot counterparts are equally excellent. Wide receivers with high slot grades have touchdowns that are about the same as those on the perimeter. This is due to the fact that quarterbacks have a more stable target distribution when throwing to slot and outside receivers, compared to other inside options like tight ends and backfield pass-catchers.

It's also interesting to see a receiver such as CeeDee Lamb on this list in 2022, as he plays the slot in three WR sets, and flanker in two of the sets. He's running more routes in the slot than most of the players on this chart. This is an excellent way to gain matchup advantages for your team. It also helps explain why Lamb is the highest-graded receiver in our system.

Of course, he also plays the X position and makes huge plays on the perimeter, too. Lamb isn't as awe-inspiring as the players in this ranking, but he's still highly skilled and is an excellent player for the Cowboys scheme.

Mecole Hardman is a further example of a player capable of putting up huge numbers on both types of targets. He has a high slot receiving grade and is one of the league's top players at catching back-shoulder throws, but he's also an excellent opponent for contested catch.

Jalen Hilton is another player who is slot specialist. He has lined up in this position on 85.7 percent his defensive snaps so far this season. He's allowed the third-lowest target EPA and the fifth-best run stop EPA for cornerbacks that are aligned in the slot, making him a valuable part of his team's defense. On the other hand, he's had trouble to block passes from the outside and has allowed the negative EPA against these types of targets. This is due to him playing with linebackers and safety players who cannot match Hilton's speed, size, and route-running abilities.
