The Best Robot Vacuum For Carpet
No matter if you have a low or high-pile carpet, there's a robot vacuum for you. These machines are intelligent and can automatically navigate your home, suck up dirt and clean under furniture.
Many of them have advanced features, such as mapping, which can help you navigate your home and recall furniture placement. They can also increase suction power to tackle dirtier surfaces.
iRobot Roomba 694"
The Roomba 694 from iRobot is an entry-level robot vacuum that performs well on both carpets with low pile and bare floors. It has a good suction and is able to clean up most debris, though it has trouble with larger particles like rice or sand. It does a good job cleaning pet hair but isn't as resistant to tangling as the premium Roomba models such as the I6 and j7.
The Roomba is easy to use. It has three buttons on the top cover. 'Clean,' which initiates a cleaning session, 'Dock,' which puts it in its charging station and "Spot," which initiates the targeted cleaning. It is controlled by an app on your smartphone which lets you schedule and stop/start cycles, and also adjust settings. You can also connect it with smart home devices like Alexa or Google Assistant for voice-controlled operation.
This vacuum is a bit slower than other models, but it's still able reach the majority of crevices and corners. It has a large bin, which makes it easier to empty. It is compatible with digital mapping and virtual barriers, which allows you to set the robot to avoid certain areas or to stop cleaning altogether to prevent it from becoming stuck.
It's not the top for its price, however it's better than the majority of other options. The Roborock E4 has a better cleaning capability than the Roomba 694, and it's able to clean low-pile and bare carpets. It also has a more durable battery and a better route. It also feels more durable and has fewer components that require regular maintenance, is less expensive to own over its lifetime and charges more quickly than the 694.
You may also want to consider other models from the iRobot range, including the v7 or the 981. vacuum cleaner with mop and v7 are more expensive, but they provide significant improvements in cleaning performance both on bare and low pile floors. They also have a larger dirt compartment and charge faster, move more easily and are easier to pair with smart home devices.
Shark RV1001AE IQ
This self-emptying robotic vacuum cleaner does an excellent job on carpets with low piles and hard flooring. The combo brush can reach into edges and corners, and it automatically boosts suction when it senses carpet. It also is effective in cleaning dirt and debris that are embedded in mid-pile carpet. The IQ's small footprint for docks and its self-emptying feature are nice touches. If you want to change the floor level or set areas that are not allowed to be used, you'll need to manually reset the map.
The IQ's app has some advanced mapping and automation features but it's missing no-go zones that are available on iRobot models. The smart-pathing system of the app allows for greater maneuverability and the high-pile mode of its carpet cleaning mode is effective, although it can get stuck on rug tassels.
In our tests, we found that the IQ handled pet hair with ease. It was able to get rid of a large amount of debris on bare floors, and a fair amount on medium-pile rug. It was less efficient on shag carpets, where it struggled to reach dirt and dust embedded in the fibers. It was able navigate the legs of a chair, tiny spaces as well as the base of an IKEA wooden step stool. It was a little slower on floors that were not paved however it soon recovered speed and performed better than other robots we tested.
The IQ is a better option than the iRobot Roomba 694 for most applications. It has a larger dustbin and a longer battery life and is more adept at navigating around obstacles. It also has mopping attachments that are able to deal with sticky messes. The iRobot is, however, is better constructed, has fewer components that require replacement or maintenance and has lower recurring costs, can create virtual no-go zones using its companion application. It is able to even resume a cleaning session from the point it started if it runs out of battery before it has completed the task. The iRobot can also be controlled via voice, which can be an enormous benefit for many users.
Eufy 11S
The eufy RoboVac 11S robot vacuum isn't one of the most advanced models, but it provides excellent cleaning power for an affordable price. This robot vacuum is designed for budget-conscious consumers who don't require a complicated mapping system, or even an app to control it. The robot is capable of running for up to an hour and includes an remote, cleaning tool, AC power adapter, charging base and extra filters.
The 11S is slim, sleek and has a tempered-glass upper deck that resembles the brushed appearance of aluminum. It's a refreshing departure from the industrial and utilitarian designs of Roomba, Samsung and Neato.
The eufy11S did well in our tests at removing larger particles and fine dust from hard flooring. It was unable to thoroughly clean high-pile and medium-pile carpets. The device is also prone to smack into furniture and other objects in its path however, it's able detect those obstacles using sensors. When it comes across them, it ceases to move and emits a loud sound so you can manually guide it around the obstacle and then get back to work.
Another excellent feature of the eufy 11S is its BoostIQ mode, which allows you to set the robot to automatically adjust its suction power to match the type of floor and the amount of mess. The remote control makes it easy to direct the 11S to the desired location.
Single Room Mode is a great option if you have little furniture in the space you want to vacuum. The eufy is capable of spending up to 30 minutes cleaning the area it is assigned.
You can also opt for Edge Cleaning, which reduces the time spent in each area to 20 minutes for optimal battery life. This feature allows the eufy to move in a spiraling pattern by cleaning edges and corners.
Miele Complete C1
The Miele Complete C1 canister robot is a great mid-range vacuum cleaner that excels on carpet. Its performance on floors that are not bare is also impressive. It can pick up small particles such as rice effortlessly and doesn't lose suction efficiency even as its dirt bin fills. Its allergy-friendly design and air-sealed body traps allergens and keeps your family healthy. It comes with an onboard HEPA filter and self-emptying dustbin, so you don't have to buy additional filters or a separate vacuum bag.
It's not as powerful as the more expensive models, but it's still ideal for fighting staining and deep cleaning. The two cameras on the front of the unit provide a live image feed on your smartphone, and it comes with one of the top obstacles-avoiding systems we've seen. It also comes with a huge dustbin, long runtime and a quick clean-up that is free of bumps.
In contrast to other robots, unlike other robots, the Complete C1 can switch between the standard powerhead and the turbo head to suit different flooring types. The turbo head works best on low-pile or high-pile carpeting, while the standard powerhead is good for floors with no flooring and light rug. It also features an automatic height adjustment system that allows it to adjust to different kinds of flooring, without manual adjustments.
This model is included with the SBD 285-3 Classic Combination Floorhead, which can be used on both carpets and hard floors. medium pile. The powerhead can be easily moved around and reach difficult spots. It has five levels of surface adjustments and a switch that lets you turn off the brushroll to prevent hairs from getting tangled.
The Classic C1 also has a self-cleaning brush roll, an UtraClean mode that goes around the same area three times for the best cleaning possible and a self-emptying trash bin which can be filled with the press of one button. The sound level of this model is more pronounced than other models. However, its powerful motor with 1,200 watts and robust construction justify the additional cost.
If you don't mind spending some extra money, the Miele Complete C3 canister robot vacuum is a great all-around robot vacuum. It performs better on carpets than the Classic C1. It has a better performance on all types of floors and feels more sturdy and comes with an HEPA filter.
