Nicholas Fouquet (ministre des finances de France) a fait construit un palais (Vaux-le-Viconte). En 1661 il a organiser une fête a son nouveau château. Louis XIV, insulté, a emprisoné Fouquet (pour haute traison) et a employé son jardinier, son architecte, et son cuisinier. Louis XIV n'a jamais invité Jean de La Fontaine à Versailles car il a toujours resté fidèle à Nicholas Fouquet qui l'a protègé.

La Fronde- (pendant jeunesse de Louis 14)- guerres civiles entre 1648-1653.
Attaque contre le pouvoir croissant de la royauté- Louis 14 a voulu établir le palais hors de Paris car il craignait être attaqué par les Parisiens.
