However, you can consider few things before buying it. The most important thing is to decide where exactly you will run your radio controlled car - on road or off the road? The on road cars would usually run smooth on the roads, but definitely not on stones, grass or hills. For that purpose, you will have to buy the off road version.

Get A History Report: Invest the money upfront and know where your used car has been and if there are any problems or accidents reported. The best reports to get are CarFax and AutoCheck. I recommend getting them both because they pull information from different sources. I've seen a clean CarFax report and then found the same car had frame damage on an AutoCheck report.

Make an appointment -- If a salvage yard makes an acceptable offer for your vehicle, then make an appointment to drop it off. If it isn't drivable, the yard may send out a tow truck to take it away. A car that has to be towed will be worth less as it will cost the salvage yard more money to obtain your vehicle. If your car is not drivable, but can be pulled to a salvage yard, then consider doing the job yourself.

You also need to know if you want ready-to-run rolling stock or kits that you make yourself. Typically, HO scale offers the most rolling stock kits. O and N gauge rolling stock comes almost exclusively ready-to-run. Kits tend to be more affordable than ready-to-run cars.

The first thing you will likely notice is that adult RC cars tend to carry a higher price tag compared with the child's toys. In fact, you can easily spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars on this hobby. The good news is that here are inexpensive cars to be had and you can get started on a budget if you wish.
