What NOT To Do With The Best Robot Vacuums Industry
Best Robot Vacuums and Mop Combos

The best method to keep your home clean is to use a robot vacuum. It can remove pet hair, dust and other particles from the floor before it becomes a larger problem.

Some robots can sync with smart assistants such as Alexa or Google Assistant to provide a hands-free experience. Find vacuum & mop in one that can be recharged and continue cleaning where they left off.

1. iRobot s8

This smart robot mop and vacuum combo is an excellent choice for many households. It vacuums and mops well and is extremely navigable using both GPS and laser sensors and offers a broad range of controls and features accessible via the app. It also has a handy feature that lets you create cleaning zones in areas that require extra attention, and Keep Out zones in areas that you don't want it to be. It also gets software updates, similar to all Roomba products, that improve the quality of the product over time.

It's costly however, it's also one of the most advanced robot vacuums that ZDNet has tested. It has a high-powered battery that can clean an entire home in less than two hours. It can switch between vacuuming and mopping at the touch of a button. And unlike other self-emptying robotics that require you to empty the bin after each run, it automatically emptys into an even larger waste container on top of its charging dock.

It also has a number of other options, like intelligent obstacle avoidance that uses a camera along with processor-powered smarts in order to identify obstacles. It rarely gets derailed or stuck during a cleaning cycle, and it's the best at avoiding power cables and other objects in my tests. However, it isn't as accurate in detecting pet waste and other hazards.

2. Eufy RoboVac Hybrid X8

Although Anker-owned Eufy has earned a name for itself in the field of low-cost robot vacuums, it's never offered an all-in-one model that can also mop. That changes with the X8 Hybrid, which has an impressive set of modern features and can compete well against much more expensive models.

Eufy's main selling point with this device is its laser navigation. Previous Eufy devices have constructed a rough map of your home by using infrared sensors and bumping into things however the X8's laser mapping system is more precise. It also takes a lot less time to create an accurate picture of your home and can store multiple maps, which is great for homes with multiple floors.

The X8 is a decent vacuum cleaner for floors that are clean. It is able to effortlessly sling debris under the side brushes and into the 400ml dustbin. Its tyres are adept at hugging edges and corners, despite being circular. It's not a great kitty litter scooper, however as our tests show it can only remove about 90 percent of the fur from hard floors.

There's a mopping mode that uses the same water tank as the vacuuming. This is great for spills that are not too dangerous, but you are unable to limit the amount of water it uses. It does, however, do an excellent job of picking up pet hair, with a higher speed of pickup than the Roborock S7.

3. vacuum cleaners RX2

Miele's RX2 robotic vacuum is known for its quiet, powerful appliances. It has a beautiful design, superb navigation and an impressive cleaning power. But it has some operational hiccups that keep it from ranking as the top overall smart robot vacuum.

Like the latest models from iRobot and models, the RX2 comes with dual-sensor mapping technology which uses an LIDAR sensor to map out a room and three 3D scanning cameras to identify and avoid obstacles (like furniture legs or pet waste) in real time. Once the room is mapped, the app lets you create virtual no-go zones as well as preferred areas that the robot will clean automatically. You can also begin a manual clean or manually change the cleaning mode, see a live feed from the cameras onboard and more on the main screen.

The RX2 has superior sensors that can detect furniture and other obstructions instantly. Its sweeping and suction powers are exceptional, taking away surface debris from medium pile carpeting as well as embedded dust on floors. It's not the fastest robot on the market. It's not the greatest climber and has issues with transition strips made of metal.

Many people purchase robot vacuums for the convenience of setting up a schedule using an app, and then forgetting about them for weeks. However, it's essential that a robot can accomplish the task that's why our ZDNet staff looked over and tested a number of the most popular ones to help you select the best one for your home.

4. Shark ION

This budget robovac is a robot that is similar to other, but has some extra features and is more efficient. Its smart mapping system generates 3D and 2D maps of your home, and uses them to navigate and avoid obstacles. It's even able to spot common obstacles like power cords and furniture legs in real-time. This combination of sensors with a bump detector and an infrared sensor to keep the vacuum away from stairs makes it one of our most flexible vacuums.

It was able to climb over the thick shag carpets and was not stuck (unlike the RoboVac 11s or Roomba 690-). Its navigation abilities were also impressive. Its composite score for flooring and carpet beats the competition and it picked up 98.5 percent of surface litter and embedded dog hair from our laboratory test samples.

The controls are more basic than the competitors. There's a clean button at the top and you can choose to start it with the app or voice commands with Alexa or Google Assistant. You can also schedule daily or weekly cleanings, create no-go zones and view the history of cleaning. Ion is covered in a sophisticated dark gray plastic that looks and feels attractive in your home. Its rear dustbin is easily accessible for emptying, and taking out the filters is also simple.

5. Eufy 11S

If you're looking for a simple robotic vacuum that is simple and has no frills for a reasonable cost, the Eufy 11S might be your best bet. It doesn't have many of the smart features, such as digital mapping and Alexa integration, which are found in more expensive models, but if you don't need these features, you can save cost with this model.

This robot is simple to install and use. It doesn't require smartphone application or Wi-Fi pairing. However it does come with a remote control which allows you to choose between various modes and adjust the suction levels. It also allows you to manually take the robovac off for scheduled cleaning.

In our tests, we discovered that the 11S was extremely efficient at getting pet fur and dirt from hard floors and low-pile carpets. Its slim profile allowed it to get under low-hanging furniture and other items that larger robots are unable to reach. It could also easily pass over doorway thresholds and change from one type of floor to another.

Like other robots, the 11S can suck up some objects, such as cords drawstrings for hoodies, and cat toys. The manufacturer states that you can avoid this by keeping these objects off the floor and by using an organizer for cords if you can. It also recommends that you periodically clean the dustbin, change the filters and clean or change the brushes when needed.

6. IRobot Roomba 980

The Roomba 980 is the flagship robot vacuum. It's costly however it's top-performing and, in some ways, the most advanced robot vacuum available. Its self-navigation as well as environmental mapping is something to behold. It also has more advanced automation features than many competitors, including the ability to set virtual boundary markers using its mobile app. While its app isn't the most responsive and the 980 may spin out a bit while rolling over cables, it's still a very capable robot vacuum.

One thing we love about the 980 is that it makes use of its iAdapt 2.0 navigation sensors as well as visual simultaneous localisation and mapping technology (or vSLAM) to memorise the floor plan of your home. It will use this data to create a consistent and efficient cleaning path for each cycle. The result is cleaner floors and a better robot vacuum than most high-end robots.

The 980's other features include dual multi-surface rubber brushes, that pick up dirt from hard floors and carpet and a spinning brush that sweeps debris into the bin of the robotic vacuum. Its floor tracking sensor helps it navigate through furniture, along edges and up the stairs. Cliff Detect prevents the Roomba from falling. It will also return to the base station for simple charging between sessions. The bin capacity and the battery life of the 980 aren't as impressive as some other robot vacuums. However, it is a reliable and solid machine that can keep floors clean for many hours.
