Verbs- Action word ex. RUN, WALK, TALK
Nouns- person, place, or thing ex. ROB, WALLACEBURG, DOGS
Adverbs- describes the verb ex. SLOWLY, LOUDLY, SOFTLY
Adjective- describes the noun ex. RED, LARGE, TALL
Conjunction- connects words or clause ex. AND, BUT, SO
Interjection- an emotional interruption to a speech ex. YA!!!!!
Pronouns- words that can take the place of a nouns ex. BILL=HE
Preposition- the location of the noun ex. UP, DOWN, IN

Predict- tells readers about the subject
Independent Clause- when removed from a sentence it will still make sense
Subordinate Clause- can't be removed from a sentence because it won't make sense
Simple Sentence- only 1 independent clause
Compound Sentence- 2 or more independent clause
Complex Sentence- 1 independent clause and at least 1 subordinate clause
Compound Complex Sentence- 2 or more independent clauses and at least 1 subordinate clause
